A short walk from St Nicholas Church is the Guildhall Museum. When we arrived and entered the museum, there was a lady who enquired if we were there to joined the guided tour. We told her that we did not sign up for it but as there was only a couple who did, she invited us to join the tour. The tour was informative and we enjoyed the historical events leading to the building being constructed and knowing the history of the various items being displayed. The building is very well kept, and the staff are friendly. Entry to the Guildhall Musrum is free.

Open daily 11-4.30, Free entry although donations welcome of course. Amazingly intact building for some 600 years old. You can go through the rooms, into the courtyard and upstairs. Some interesting exhibits – some gruesome! It is next to Leicester cathedral (free and worth a look) and very near the King Richard III museum (fee) The attached café was good for a coffee and snack

I have always loved this beautiful medieval building and have visited it several times since we moved to Leicester three years ago. I had a big birthday last weekend and thought I would be having a surprise meal at a restaurant but when we turned towards the Guildhall and discovered my family had organised a party there for me I was speechless! It was a dream come true, I know weddings and events are held there (I’ve been to a few events) but couldn’t have imagined a party for me. It was a wonderful evening, guests particularly loved visiting the cells. A huge thank you to Ben, my family said he was so helpful in arranging the party and welcoming guests on the evening and Bethan who with Ben ran the bar. An unforgettable evening at the Guildhall.

This Guild Hall was visit was the highlight of our Leicester visit. It is a remarkable example of an early Guild Hall, and the story boards give excellent information on its history and function through the ages. The library with its fine collection of ancient books is a bonus. A must visit site,

I stumbled into this museum on a day trip to Leicester. It is right next to the Richard III museum where his bones were found and the church where they are interred. Entry is free, and the building rich in history. It took me about 25 minutes to see most everything. It has a cute interactive game to engage children in learning about the medieval times, with hands on tasks in most rooms. The artifacts are fascinating, the great hall impressive, and the curating well done. I would definitely recommend this to most anyone with any interest in history, even families with kids.

Located next to Leicester catherdral, this building is a small museum showing a small amount of old archifacts during the Tudor times. Also it has a large hall which can be hired for events and weddings at a great value. There is a jail room where you see in rooms where people were locked up many years ago. There is a gift shop and it is free entry but really its only worth the one visit.
