Great museum. Awful cafe.

Museum very good. Cafe horrendous. Cappuccino was basically a spoonful of coffee from a jar mixed with water and milk. No froth no taste just awful. £2.90! You couldn’t make it up.

Great Leicester Attraction
Jul 2021 • Family
Well worth a journey in the school holidays. Booking very straight forward and gave you a time to arrive and it was free, really covid friendly! 8 year old enjoyed it although a little spooked by some of the german surrealist paintings upstairs.

It would be great if more things could be labelled. She was asking what the animals were in the doors of the trees, I had no idea. The meteor that landed in Barwell was on display it was 4,500 billion years old!!! That was awesome. Thanks for a really great day out

Years of Pleasure
Aug 2020
Been coming here since I was a kid, and now I bring my own. The mummies are a particular favourite as are the stuffed wildlife! However upstairs they have great collections on show every so often, not always good for kids though, but others like the Star Wars exhibition is great for all ages. Would thoroughly recommend putting this on your things to do and places to visit while in Leicester if you're solo or with the family.

Another fantastic visit
Jun 2021 • Solo
Visited yesterday, first visit since 2019. As always great displays and exhibitions. One complaint though, please tell your staff it isn’t professional to be bickering on who should be doing what. I was trying to look at display only for a young man to be having a strop with a female member of staff

Pleasant visit

Absolutely fantastic museum. Could spend a whole day in here. I remember visiting the museum must have been 20 years ago and seeing the Rutland dinosaur, brilliant to bring back memories!
The cafe is reasonable with a lovely selection of cakes.

Fantastic for kids - a little bit of everything
Oct 2020
This place is amazing. I took my 8 year old twins there and they adored the Egyptian exhibits (including real mummy toes that you could see!), the dinosaurs, the lego and the WWII engines. I particularly liked the Picasso sculptures - such a great mix. Plus, it was completely free and Covid secure.

Great little museum, dinosaurs and Lego highlights
Oct 2020 • Family
Was attracted by the Lego City exhibition which didn't disappoint. The museum itself has set itself well for Covid with booking process, one way system and fans for air flow.
On paper a fairly standard museum with dinosaurs, old relics, stuffed animals and art of different styles and generations. However, they have bought it to life really well, with a great flow and clean nice surroundings.
Dinosaur exhibition was a particular highlight with a mini natural history museum style.hanhing skeleton.

Fabulous Lego
Oct 2020 • Family
The Lego Exhibition was fabulous for our 5 and 10yr old granddaughters. Hats off to that BUT the forced route you had to take around the museum took you through the Egyptian Mummies that terrified them. Had to cover their faces up and run through. Weeks before when I went with the other grandchildren you had an option of avoiding it.
Also no labels on stuffed animals. Couldn't let them know what a lot if the animals/birds were. Top marks for Lego Exhibition but poor for the animal section.
