Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Myself and my partner booked onto the very first evening tour that the guides (Brant and Matthew) conducted. The tour was incredibly informative, we learnt so much interesting history about Lincoln. Brant and Matthew constantly give you fun facts and stories about each part of the city we visited. Despite the tour being several hours long we didn't lose interest at all. We loved every moment.

The tour is technically free to book onto, but you'll like it so much that you'll want to pay the pair of them for their incredible knowledge and enthusiasm whilst giving the tour. We happily parted with a generous donation at the end of the tour.

Absolutely brilliant, 10/10. Would recommend to absolutely anyone!

My partner and I have now spent two very enjoyable mornings on Brant and Matt's walking tours, the first being on their special Charity Dog Walking Tour of Lincoln and the second on their newly launched Industry and Innovation Tour of the City. Both were interesting and enjoyable and as locals we learnt a wealth of new information relating to various aspects of Lincoln's rich history as well as a few quirky tales from the city's past along the way. Brant and Matt are knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic guides and I would heartily recommend joining them on any of the walks that they offer whether you are a tourist discovering Lincoln for the first time or a resident keen to get a fresh perspective on the city.

I was fortunate enough to be invited on one of the trial tours. The tour was great. Matt and Brant were fantastic guides and managed to bring the history of Lincoln to life. The tour included many hidden gems, which having lived and worked in Lincoln for over 15 years I was unaware of. Therefore I would strongly recommend the tour to anyone who has an interest in the history of the city. Luckily (for them ) they had just received their new card reader so I was easily able to leave a tip at the end.

As my title suggests, make sure you have a DeLorean handy as you will cover the whole of Lincoln's history! Brant and Matt are both locals and have prepared an extensive tour of the main landmarks, whilst also covering the full history of Lincoln. Do be prepared to overrun as our tour lasted around three hours. Please note that the route is steep at times, but is all downhill. However, remember that you may well have to return to your starting point, as we did! Brant and Matt can give you directions to the local buses, if required. We would recommend some refreshments around the waterside prior to the return ascent.

We went on two tours organised by Lincoln Free Walking Tours; the Lincoln History and Roman Lincoln tours.
The shorter Roman tour takes about 2 hours and the Lincoln History about 3 hours. to be honest, you don't notice the time go by as all sorts of facts, stories and anecdotes are given out in a most informative manner.
Our guides on the Saturday and Sunday were the double act of Brant and Matt who gave an enjoyable presentation.
Discount vouchers for Stokes Coffee House and the Horse and Groom pub are available at the end of the tour, if you want one.
Don't be stingy with the tip. These guys really have done their homework and clearly enjoy sharing there knowledge of a city steeped in history. Even if you are local and think you know it all, they will surprise you.
Totally recommended.
Bear in mind it rains a lot in Lincoln and there are a lot of cobbled streets and lanes, so be prepared.

This was an excellent guided tour.Exactly what I had hoped for .
Matt was the experienced guide . He was so knowledgable and told us so much about Lincoln’s history it was fabulous. Krissy worked alongside Matt though she was learning and less experienced but still very very good .
The tour provided info about the castle , the cathedral , Roman times and Roman remains , Medieval times , the old lunatic asylum and James Charlesworth and more …..With many anecdotes and stories from more modern times too .
It was excellent and I’d thoroughly recommend it to those who can walk for 3 hours and listen to information throughout.
The tour is free , but at the end you can tip if you wish to support these lovely , very friendly , happy guides who give up every weekend for the love of Lincoln .
I’d recommend you do so that this excellent facility continues and prospers .

Saturday morning tour was absolutely brilliant. The two guides were professional, personable and full of interesting information and anecdotes. One of us was a mobility scooter user and the care both guides took to ensure his comfort and safety was superb. Originally, we didn’t think he would last more than half an hour but he enjoyed the tour so much he was determined to finish it despite the cobbles, steep hills and rain! We would never have seen half the places they showed us nor learnt as much about the city without doing this tour on the Saturday morning. Before booking online, I made an email enquiry and a helpful response was quickly received. Thank you Brant and Matt from four very grateful visitors.

Hi Lowri, Thank you for the fantastic review and feedback. We really try our best to make the tours as accessible as we possibly can in a historic city on the side of a steep hill! So we are so pleased to hear that you had a great time, and that you found your experience was inclusive. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your weekend in Lincoln. Thanks Brant

Having been on the Free walking tour previously and enjoyed it so much, we booked on to the Historic Pubs Tour as a birthday treat for my husband. While this particular tour isn’t free, it’s good value as a drink is included in each pub and you get the wealth of information from the guys thrown in.
Brant & Matt were incredibly friendly and full of information about the city and its hostelry history. We visited a number of interesting pubs, having a drink in each. The tour caters for everyone, even if you don’t like beer (we tried to have a local ish beer where we could), with people having soft drinks or even coffee if they preferred, it was no issue. Chrissy from our first tour joined us in our first pub and it was lovely to see her again.
Definitely recommend this tour if you like beer and history, a great way to spend the afternoon and perhaps visit some pubs you wouldn’t otherwise have done. Thanks for another great tour guys.

A most excellent tour of Lincoln. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and gave us a good overview of many of the historical events in Lincoln. The pace was good and there were plenty of interesting stories. You felt no obligation to pay but felt that it was well worth paying for.

I joined the Lincoln Free Walking Tour on a Saturday, lead by Brent & Chrissie. It was really well organised - everyone was checked in, there was a loo stop half way and they had massive yellow brollies so as not to lose anyone. Both Brent and Chrissie were great at making the tour both interesting and fun, and were happy to answer any extra questions. The tour covered a good route round the whole main city centre and was accessible for everyone. I left feeling historically inspired!
