....well, at least at a particular stretch. However railings are provided, although take care on a rainy day. Otherwise, a very nice street, with quaint shops and tea-rooms lining both sides. Love the ambience, and I am aware that colleagues often cover the stretch walking,...More

Very steep indeed but the climb is compensated by lots of interesting and quirky shops that are not typical highstreet. There are also a lot of tempting tea, coffee ,cake and pubs so it is easy to take a leisurely stroll up or down.

Steep Hill is lovely for a slow wander. A rail is at the side to help anyone struggling. Lots of lovely independent shops, cafes and bars on the way to browse. Then you come to the Castle and Bailgate. Lovely day out.

The cobbled streets in the old city make Steep Hill a fairly hard walk when going up toward the Cathedral and Castle. En route there are notable old buildings and quaint shops and tea rooms.

There's a new Premiere Inn on the main road through Lincoln (A15). Thus gives great walking access to central Lincoln or there's another just at the top of Canwick Hill if that suits you.
