Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited the city of Lincoln and its visitor information centre whilst on route to North Yorkshire in a planned break to our journey. We had an afternoon to explore the city and arriving by car, had used the park & ride system to reach the Cathedral area.
The information centre is located at the top of the aptly named ‘Steep Hill’ and we found it after passing the cathedral on route to the castle. The information centre is full of some interesting information leaflets, maps and souvenirs of Lincoln, we collect porcelain thimbles of places that we visit and we were able to purchase one here.

Very helpful and knowledgeable folks. Conveniently located in the old town adjacent the cathedral and Castle. If you're on bikes there is a useful cycle rack near by. The staff recommended a walking tour with a Lincoln Tour Guide which we did at £5 per head and were not disappointed - you see and learn so much more this way.

The person at the Lincoln Visitor Information Centre was very helpful and suggested my husband and I take the hop on, hop off bus to see the city and to get information about the history, which was good advice. On the tour we learned a great deal about the history of Lincoln and drove past various churches and other beautiful buildings. One park which impressed us was Licorice Park, an unkempt park left so to encourage bees and butterflies. Afterwards, at the visitor centre, we were able to buy some tea towels and other souvenirs for family and friends in Australia.

REPEATEDLY UNACCEPTABLE
Enquiring about the Discover Lincolnshire Weekend, and difficulty in finding details of specific events, we were curtly told that the events were only for local people who live in the area with the inference being that we did NOT live in the area (and would NOT be eligible to attend, which we do NOT believe is correct in anyway). Furthermore, we had NOT actually been asked whether we live in Lincoln/Lincolnshire (or even where we live). On several previous occasions the attitude of one particular member of staff (who seems to be in charge or assumes the role) has similarly been noted as being totally unacceptable. Indeed, on more than one occasion, I have offered information/advice to visitors who have been unable to obtain any meaningful information from staff (and in particular this same individual). These visitors have often been from outside of the county and the impression made by staff at the Visitor Information Centre has been absolutely appalling.

As the co-ordinator of an employment based course at Lincoln College, I arranged for one of our interns to visit and meet the manager, Michele, to learn about how they put their customers first and provide the best experience they can. The intern is soon to start an internship placement in a customer facing role and everything Michele shared, in terms of best practice for customer service, was extremely relevant for them. Michele provided a real insight into how the centre runs, what they have planned and how customer service is what they are there to provide. Thank you Michele for your time and support.

Set in the Cathedral Quarter in a very attractive building, the Visitor Information Centre has everything you need to get the most out of a visit to the city. Lots of souvenirs alongside the usual visitor leaflets and books. Well worth seeking out.

Located on the corner in the square between the Cathedral and castle. The Visitor Centre does not open until 10.00 am yet opens promptly and staff are welcoming and helpful. Needed to buy a postcard before leaving the area, the Post Office up the road although opens at 09.00 am do not sell them and the staff are quite miserable.
Great choice of souvenirs here and at reasonable prices. Well worth the wait for opening time.

A good place to start your visit to this beautiful part of one of England's historic cities. We organised a half-day walking tour through them, and picked up plenty of interesting leaflets, all of which made our short stay very memorable. And it is in a very historic building too - not to be forgotten!

Just visit the information in Lincoln and had the pleasure of chatting with Sarah Beverley and Amanda.. what an asset. If only everyone I meet could be as genuinely enthusiastic and knowledgeable about a place it would make life so much better.. Thanks for the 10 minutes of your time. You made my Mums day brighter .

Staff in the centre were really helpful.
The lady gave us directions to all the places we wanted to visit, including a map.
She told us the best routes & times to go as well as prices etc.
We chatted about my local area & what had brought us to Lincoln.
It should be the first place every visitor to Lincoln should go.

We plan to base ourselves in Lincoln for a few days. We also want to visit the Newark and Nottinghamshire Showground, ( for the antique fair). What is the quickest, cheapest way to get there and back?
What do you recommend for travel from Heathrow to Lincoln?
We plan to be there in August.
Thank you
