Overview
More
The Wickenby Museum is housed in the first floor of the original Watch Office and is dedicated to the commemoration of the Bomber Boys who flew from RAF Wickenby during WW2. The museum tells the story of RAF Wickenby from opening in 1942 to closing in 1956. Many artefacts form this era form our displays along with an archive of documents and photographs. Research can be undertaken using our archive but prior arrangement is necessary. Downstairs we have a cafe where our menu includes freshly prepared breakfasts, hot favourties like ham, egg & chips, burgers etc, we also have a selection of snacks, hot and cold drinks and freshly baked cakes.

Its a working aerodrome, but full of WW2 RAF history & the control tower is packed full of memorabilia (upstairs). Very worthwhile for any RAF/WW2 enthusiast.

We didn't realise this was here until my husband had finished his 1 hour flying lesson experience with Lincoln Flight, which was amazing. It's only small but holds a lot of information and items to make you realise just what those men and women did...More

Visited the museum as I had found a connection in Lincoln cathedral. Nice museum in the original control tower. Nice little cafe for a cuppa. Out of the way but peaceful, apart from the odd light aircraft buzzing around.

On a lovely summer day visit this little museum in the control tower. The museum has no big exhibits but conveys the personal aspect of life as a bomber pilot. There are letters and exhibits that tell of the sacrifice made by many in bomber...More

Being in the control tower, overlooking the runway, you can almost hear the bombers taking off. Everything is real and kept just as it was during the war

Low key, but lots of interesting memorabilia, with good interpretation. Added interest of light aircraft taking off and landing on the adjacent runway. Only let down by the all pervading stench of greasy cooking from the cafe below.
