The Wickenby Museum is housed in the first floor of the original Watch Office and is dedicated to the commemoration of the Bomber Boys who flew from RAF Wickenby during WW2. The museum tells the story of RAF Wickenby from opening in 1942 to closing in 1956. Many artefacts form this era form our displays along with an archive of documents and photographs. Research can be undertaken using our archive but prior arrangement is necessary. Downstairs we have a cafe where our menu includes freshly prepared breakfasts, hot favourties like ham, egg & chips, burgers etc, we also have a selection of snacks, hot and cold drinks and freshly baked cakes.

The museum on its own is a fascinating way to spend an hour or so - lots of RAF memorabilia, much of it intriguing and neatly explained by the helpful and knowledgable staff. But that's not all - downstairs there is an excellent cafe, that does superb breakfasts and can also cater for larger events. Well worth a visit.

A fantastic mix of letters, photographs, log books and uniforms which are crammed into a wonderful littel spot. It fires up the imagination and makes you realise not only how young so many of them wer, but also how dedicated.

The museum is small in what would have been local control in the towerbut perfect combined with Icarus Memorial and a nice cafe. Lots of bits of memorabilia and a few things to buy to remember your visit. Lovely that the airfield is still is use and hopefully always will be 😀

Great museum, small but crammed with an amazing amount of pictures, artefacts and plenty to read, also audio and visual information. Cafe has some great menu choices all at very reasonable prices, and within very close proximity to an active runway. Well worth a visit if your in Lincolnshire.

We visited Wickenby Museum yesterday 21st September. The trees lining the approach are all planted in the memory of aircrew who flew from there during the war. The museum in the old watch tower is fascinating with its WW2 operations memorabilia and historical artefacts. I could have spent all day there! The cafe was a delight serving a variety of... More

Visited mid week . It was quiet but we received a warm welcome. The upstairs museum was very interesting. Food in the downstairs cafe was good... loved my chorizo and mozzarella paninini! Would recommend

I took my four children to this delightful cafe today what a fantastic place. my youngest was in his element eating lunch whilst watching planes come in and take off. The staff were very welcoming and were very child friendly, the cafe even had games and books to entertain the children. We had 5 meals and the bill came to... More

Wonderfully atmospheric with a small number of exhibits from the second world war, especially Lancasters. A working airfield - we even got a 'private' acrobatic display while we were there. Tea, coffee and great cakes, or more substantial breakfasts etc. Curry nights, etc - check the website. If no planes, then the silence is stunning and depressingly rare. Car park... More

While my partner went for a flying lesson I took the opportunity of looking around the small museum. What a hidden gem, so much history with information about the role RAF Wickenby played in the war. It was packed with pictures, artefacts, and memorabilia, a truely fitting museum of our history past. If you enjoy our history I would strongly... More
