A Couple Of Hours Well Spent
Spent a lovely couple of hours perusing the collections on a very cold Sunday afternoon. The primary exhibition runs through the history of the local area going back to Roman times and beyond and conveys a wealth of fascinating information. The temporary exhibition whilst we were there was a history of the album cover, displaying key LP artwork over the last 60+ years. Nicely done and helped me further appreciate just how interesting some of these actually are and how they often stand alone as works of art. Pop along if you can.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a glowing review! Hopefully you were able to check out our spotlight loan of a bronze age sun pendant from the British Museum whilst you were with us? Best wishes, The Collection.

    Brilliant visit every time!
I’ve visited the museum on several occasions and have been impressed every time. I visited the hotel for a lecture from the author Markus Zusak a few years ago and have visited the museum several times (recently with small children) and I have enjoyed the museum every time. There is always something new to look at. The staff are always friendly, polite and well-informed. If there is something a staff member doesn’t know off the top of their head, they are more than happy to find the information for you. There’s plenty of activities for children to do also. The artefacts are all really interesting and the museum often has borrowed artefacts from universities etc. The majority of the museum is free with opportunities to make a donation. Personally, we loved the moving picture robot of the man asleep in bed dreaming on our last visit. A great museum!
What a lovely response! Thank you very much. Please do keep an eye on our website for upcoming events - we have a creative Lego workshop coming up which may be of interest to you? The children (or adults!) will be building historical artefacts such as Viking shields out of Lego, which sounds really fun! It was very kind of you to highlight our customer service and staff as we really pride ourselves on giving a wonderful experience to our visitors. With best wishes, The Collection

    Filled with Wonderful Things!
A magnificent museum! We spent an enjoyable morning looking at all the wonderful artefacts. Lots to see from thousands of years of human development and history. Areas for children to explore and learn too. The museum also has a small shop and cafe. Well worth a visit if you are going on a trip to Lincoln.
Thank you for the recommendation! We are so proud of what we have to offer here and informative reviews like this really help to spread the word. With best wishes, Lincoln Museum

    Yukky loos
The Museum itself is lovely. However, I wandered into the toilets and they were awful The floor was filthy. They have put toilet seats in but none of them fit the pedestal. The stainless steel area where the taps are was really dirty. I came out and used hand wipe from my husband;s rucksack. Come on and tidy them up. They were disgusting and not fit for an area where there is a restaurant. I would not eat in the restaurant. You are advised to look at loos in a cafe or restaurant because their state reflects state of loos. I told the girl on reception who said nothing

What a disappointment. There is just one room to display everything. Consequently each age or era has just one display cabinet which is hardly adequate. As there was a family event on it was very noisy and busy. Not a problem but as there is so little display space it exacerbated the problem. Good job it was free.

As museums go this is awful. There is just one room, albeit a big room, and all periods of Lincoln life are each represented by a single cabinet of exhibits. It is truly awful. There is no means of exploring any particular period because there's only one cabinet of exhibits. Good job it's free. Parking near the museum is bad too.

Welcoming staff, free and roomy. Not too overwhelming with plenty of variety of artefacts and paintings over a wide range of tastes and ages.

Great visitor centre and art gallery over the two buildings, both free entry but with voluntary contribution boxes if you choose, We visited the Gallery first which is a fair size over two floors, The second building holds small museum of the history of Lincoln throughout the ages, Both well worth half hour of your time…

This must once have been an interesting museum but it is dark, tired and dreary now. The display of objects is very poor: the lighting is often completely ineffective (or not working) and the labels are a disaster: tiny writing and far too much detail. Not child-friendly at all. Interesting coins but completely impossible to see them in the dark cases. Let it be said that the staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Otherwise the place needs a rocket.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your recent visit. We are pleased to read that you received such a warm welcome from us as our staff take a real pride in their roles. We are sorry that you felt the interpretations were not up to expected standards; this is something we are mindful of too and will be looking to update and refresh the gallery spaces as part of a programme of planned improvement work over the next two years. The staff are very knowledgeable about our artefacts and collections in the museum and always happy to assist with any questions you may have about the displays. With best wishes, The Collection
