Visited here as a couple on a rainy day in Lincoln. Admission is free (we made a donation) Love the fact that this place if full of local artefacts from in and around Lincoln city. Nice place to relax and the staff are all very knowledgable.

If I could rate the museum and cafe separately, the museum would get 4/5 and the cafe would get 0/5.

The museum was interesting. We didn't do the exhibition just the free part. It's a good way to spend an hour or maybe two.

Varied areas of interest well laid out.

Would happily return for another look around in a couple of hours.

The cafe on the other had was poor.
Jacket Potato with salad allegedly.
Actually it was a potato which had not been microwaved thoroughly, so there were cold parts.
The salad was just lettuce.
The slaw got forgotten about.
A rip off for nearly £6.

Won't bother again with the cafe.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention and that your experience at the Café was disappointing. We will endeavour to review the cooking process of the jacket potatoes and the food presentation going forward.

Lovely building just off Steep Hill.

Enthusiastic staff greet you. The main areas are not massive but adequate to tell enough of a rich story.

The art exhibition was the highlight for us, how pleasant to see many pictures in a vast room so there was plenty of room to view and take in.

We really enjoyed our visit here, which exhibits a lot of archaeology from the ancient city of Lincoln. Ok some of the displays were a little cheesy, but it was very informative and enjoyable to spend some time wondering around. I feel I must apologise to the bizarre robot guide, whom we cruelly sent off on a tour by itself (ok it was quite funny...!) Worth a visit, and plenty to engage children with as well.

The museum gave us a real insight into the history of Lincoln from prehistory to the early modern period, with some extraordinary artifacts, excellent reconstructions and informative text. We also very much enjoyed the wildlife photography section. Will not forget the frog in the watering can photo!

2 adults and a 14 year old and we really enjoyed this museum. Lots of interesting artefacts and presented beautifully. This museum is free entry after all, so not sure what some of the negative reviewers were hoping for - we found it to be excellent. There were lots of happy little children enjoying the activities. We spent a good 2 hours there including a reasonably priced soup, sausage roll and baguette lunch. Our server was incredibly friendly and helpful- just what you need! Toilets were spotless. There was a Jason Wilsher-Mills exhibition which was great fun. Well stocked gift shop and a play area for the littluns'. A great visit and a lovely, modern building, a short walk from the castle and cathedral.

The museum is free to enter and opens at 10am but it is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The exhibits give an excellent history of the area going back to prehistoric times. There is something for all ages including a very amusing robot that moves around the museum and interacts with children of all ages giving additional information.

Nice Museum worth a visit which is on one floor and wheelchair friendly.

There is a canteen with plenty of seating and check the website for exhibitions.

The main feature in the Museum is based around Art and Archaeology.

Well worth a visit 👍

I’ve visited the museum on several occasions and have been impressed every time. I visited the hotel for a lecture from the author Markus Zusak a few years ago and have visited the museum several times (recently with small children) and I have enjoyed the museum every time. There is always something new to look at. The staff are always friendly, polite and well-informed. If there is something a staff member doesn’t know off the top of their head, they are more than happy to find the information for you. There’s plenty of activities for children to do also. The artefacts are all really interesting and the museum often has borrowed artefacts from universities etc. The majority of the museum is free with opportunities to make a donation. Personally, we loved the moving picture robot of the man asleep in bed dreaming on our last visit.

A great museum!

What a lovely response! Thank you very much. Please do keep an eye on our website for upcoming events - we have a creative Lego workshop coming up which may be of interest to you? The children (or adults!) will be building historical artefacts such as Viking shields out of Lego, which sounds really fun! It was very kind of you to highlight our customer service and staff as we really pride ourselves on giving a wonderful experience to our visitors. With best wishes, The Collection
