- BryonyUnited Kingdom3 contributionsNatasha was great and we would fully recommend this board game cafeMy partner and I visited Sugar and Dice board game café on a Sunday during a weekend break to Liverpool. We had a really lovely afternoon at the café. They have a brilliant selection of games - loads to choose from a range of genres. The cafe also has great coffee, delicious cake and a fab range of main lunch/sandwich items too. A huge highlight of the trip was Natasha, who was incredibly attentive, helpful, welcoming and friendly. Despite it being fairly busy when we arrived and Natasha having many customers to prepare and serve food and drinks to, the service was great and the quality of everything we ordered was spot-on. I can’t recommend this place enough for anyone looking to have a fun and relaxing afternoon or evening with friends/family.We're so glad you had a great time! - TanithLimerick, Ireland48 contributionsFun for all the familyWe stopped in not knowing you needed to book (due to school holidays) and the staff were kind enough to find us a table. We were only visiting the city for a few days and really wanted to visit. This didn't disappoint. We had some toasted sandwiches, teas and cake. It was delicious and reasonably priced. There is a £2 per person cover charge per person per hour but considering the selection of games this is well worth it. We really had great fun. We're so pleased we were able to fit you in and that you had a good time :DWritten 4 January 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 1 November 2023
- laura zocca30 contributionsperfect game cafe!had such a lovely time for my birthday. It was our first visit and all the staff couldn’t have been more friendly. me and my partner ordered some Toasties and a couple beers, all really delicious. The game selection was also perfect, we stayed for 3 hours and managed to get through five different games. Such a fun relaxed day out, definitely recommend! We're so glad to hear you enjoyed your birthday visit :DWritten 4 January 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 December 2023
- Elysia S2 contributionsComfy and cosy! The staff working in sugar and dice are always the most friendly and helpful people. Table service for food and drinks (which is actually reasonably priced for central Liverpool) esp for a themed place. They are always willing to tell you about some games you’d like so you don’t get stuck playing the same games over and over. Been here multiple times and will continue to visit. So comfortable in here too, no one is out of place 💜We're so glad you enjoy your visits :DWritten 4 January 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 31 December 2023

Excellent selection of games. We were well looked after by staff who were funny and seemed to really enjoy their jobs. It’s not our first time at the cafe and it certainly won’t be our last. So down to earth, welcoming and they knew their stuff! Their recommendations were spot on. The food and drinks were brilliant. Dragonfruit cooler was delicious and the array of cakes were fantastic. The games were of course great, and such a vast well organised collection! We simply can’t wait to go back. The toasties smelt delicious so we will definitely be having them! The staff were so friendly, helpful and accommodating and the atmosphere inside is very welcoming. We had some coffee, tea and cakes, which were all great but we were there for a couple of hours due to the excellent selection of games to play. It’s such a cheap price (£2 per hour) considering the range of choices and we could have stayed for hours. Make sure you book a table if you can in advance to make sure you get a space! My twin brother Stephen and I chanced upon this cafe bar as we were wandering around this part of town and what a great find.
Walking in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here, the interior is superb, light and airy, tables socially distanced, nice decor and furnishings including all manner of board games to play which is cool ,a really good find .
We were here on a Tuesday afternoon, greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of the staff, we gave our details of name, phone number or email address to assist with the governments track and trace system and then sanitised our hands and were allocated a table ,as part of the governments " eat out to help out " scheme we were entitled to 50% off the price of our purchase upto the value of £10 , we chose a big mocha and some cheese and ham toasties, mocha was amazing, really tasty ,served in a big cup, toasties arrived a short time later accompanied with some crisps and were absolutely delicious 😋, top ingredients, you can tell from the first sip of your mocha to the first bite of your toastie ,an absolutely fantastic visit, its no wonder it was full and people were booking ahead for visits later in the evening.
We really enjoyed our visit here, cant wait to go again .
Easy to locate down Cornhill ,most definitely well worth a visit if you're in the area.

I absolutely love board games and so I was very keen to visit this place. I’ve never been to anything like it. It’s £2.50/hour per person which gives you access to all the games which I thought was reasonable. They have over 500 games to choose from which was way more than I expected. The service was pretty good. The cafe has a variety of food and drinks to choose from. You can get hot meals, sweet treats, sandwiches, snacks etc. I went with a blood orange tea which was not bad. My wife got a biscoff milkshake which she enjoyed. For food I got a cranberry, bacon and brie toastie and a slice of the recommended vegan chocolate cake. The toastie was ok. I felt it could have done with more cranberry. The chocolate cake was very nice. It was very soft delicate. My wife got a chocolate fudge brownie which was also tasty. The service was a little slow but we didn’t mind as we were busy playing a game. Plus there was only 1 person working so we weren’t expecting quick service. He was friendly though. The board game we decided to play was bears vs babies. The game was quite fun but not a game I’d probably choose to play again as I can imagine it becoming quite repetitive and boring after a while.
I love the concept of this cafe and I wish there were more out there. I love the idea of having my own board game cafe so this was experience was in someways inspiring.

We had a brilliant time at Sugar and Dice! Played a fantastic game game for two - they have an awesome range to choose from. We had coffee and a milkshake, which with the £2.50 per person entrance charge still came to under £10 for a fun hour. The staff are amazing! The young man with glasses spent ages showing us how to play the game! I can’t wait to go back.

For being the only place that takes board games seriously in Liverpool I was happy to visit this café. Great service and good game collection. The venue itself is very small with insufficient ventilation making it very hot and humid inside. It was packed when we were there. I hope that the business goes well so they can move onto a better venue in the future.

It was our first time at sugar and dice yesterday and safe to say it definitely won’t be our last. It was great value for money and we had a good time in the few hours that we were there. We didn’t have a booking but they still allowed us to stay, staff were lovely and customer service was great. Food was also really nice, we had the nachos and the kinder bueno brownie, which we will definitely have again. 100% going to return here and would recommend it to anyone looking for something cheap and cheerful to do with friends/family/on a date.

Can’t wait to return. What a fabulous four hours we had. Time flew by!
We came as a family of 4, children aged 13 and 6. We play lots of games at home but find it difficult to find games that entertain both children and ourselves… the knowledgeable staff gave some fabulous recommendations which had us roaring with laughter and keen to play again and again!
The food far exceeded expectations - delicious and reasonably priced in lovely tableware!
We are keen to return for date nights where we can try out some of the more complex games without the kids but will also return with them in tow for more quality time together!
What a gem!!

I'm looking for something different for a hen night, it's ok we're all a bit older, but I should think we'll still want a drink and a laugh and there'll be ten plus. Is this a good idea?
Written 11 April 2017
Hi Lesley,
We would love to host you ladies! We have had lots of hen parties and everyone's had a lovely time. We do serve alcohol and we can teach you all games too. With around ten people it will mostly be party games and we can set all that up for you. We can also make special cakes/ themed cupcakes etc if requested. We would recommend you book a table in advance to avoid disappointment.
Hopefully we shall see you soon!
Your Sugar and Dice Team 😀
