Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An incredibly important and well-presented collection, especially when it comes to the Egyptian objects. However, be aware that you now need to make an appointment to visit unless it is open for a special event, such as Light Night.

Invited to go to this museum as there are a number of exhibitions including some on ancient Egypt. There is even chance to get to learn to technically draw artefacts in a free session. The place is interesting in itself and the staff are knowledgeable and very friendly.

A nice way to spend a few hours

This is a fantastic little museum on Abercromby Square just behind the Liverpool Everyman. It is only open from 10-4 on Wednesday and Thursday. It is part of the University of Liverpool Department of Archaeology. It contains finds made by John Garstang, founder of this department, a sort of Victorian Indiana Jones.

Excellent museum but very disappointed it is no longer open on Wednesdays. All visits now seem to be by prior arrangement which is a great shame.

On the University of Liverpool campus, has fascinating archeological dig findings by Garstang, including sarcophagi, stelae, jewelry, coins, and even a mummy of its own. Lots of historical information. Open Wednesdays and Thursdays as of now, so check before going. Definitely a hidden gemif you are into archaeology. Nice to combine with World Museum’s Egyptian Gallery Visit.

Had planned to visit this museum for a while and especially whilst they have the current Egyptian display The Book of the Dead - Passport through the underworld which is on from 19th May until 13th September 2017 but is only available on a Wednesday. Obviously for entrance and well worth the visit. I have take a lot of photos which are still on my camera so will upload a few when my visit review is published

If you are interested in Egyptology then this is a good time to visit this museum

I love little museums and the Garstang is a treasure. Located within the University, it takes a bit of finding, but don't let this put you off. A few small galleries display mostly Egyptian artefacts, along with interesting information on how the collection is currently being studied. There was a good temporary exhibition on the Book of the Dead while I was there. Please note the opening times 10-4 Wednesdays only.
