One of the iconic statue's in Liverpool is Eleanor Rigby Statue.
A wonderful statue, the work of entertainer Tommy Steele and a statue that pays homage to Eleanor Rigby from The Beatles album " Revolver " .
It's a nice statue to view ,its a perfect selfie monument, its well worth checking out if you're in the area and easy to locate along Stanley Street.

Tommy Steele sculpture in the heart of the Beatles area.
This couldn’t be better placed to add to the vibrancy this whole area exudes. Loved my visit to Mathew Street and the adjacent streets. This is another must see for Beatles fans. On the ‘A’ list!!

Eleanor Rigby statue is located on a side street off Mathew Street. This is another Beatle fan must see and I doubt it does anything to impress anyone else.

The statue of Eleanor Rigby is quite moving when you put it in context of the song. The statue has no face which is to depict that she is an unknown person and alone. It’s a great place to see as it free and you can make it as part of a statue tour like we did.

Stanley Street is located on the periphery of the Cavern Quarter and is home to a statue of Eleanor Rigby. The statue sits on the quieter side of the street and can easily be missed due to its anonymous position. There is a school of thought that would prefer to see her relocated to a more prominent location whilst some feel that her isolation captures the mood of the song's lyrics by Lennon and McCartney.
The statue was sculpted and donated to the City of Liverpool in 1982 by multi talented pioneer of rock and roll Tommy Steele. It is a tribute to the Beatles and comprises of a bronze Eleanor Rigby sitting on a stone bench with her bag. She is looking down at a small bird perched upon a newspaper.
The story behind the history of Eleanor Rigby is open to discussion. One school of thought suggests that her name is taken from that of Eleanor Bron who appeared in the Beatles film Help whilst Rigby originated from a wine and spirits shippers called Rigby & Evens Ltd. Another school of thought suggests that Paul McCartney saw the name written on a tombstone during a visit to St Peters church in Woolton.

If you are visiting Matthew Street and The Cavern,(and if you are a Beatles fan why are you not visiting the Cavern?)this is worth a detour. Not a likeness of a real person but conveys a real sense of loneliness.
A very nice gesture from Tommy Steele. He could have got the hump, feeling that the Beatles success had sidelined his career, but he paid for this himself.Good on you,Tommy.
Take a couple of photos and see a little extra Beatle magic.

This quite iconic statue and tribute to The Beatle's song is quite hard to find as it is in a side street so you have to search if you do not want to miss it.
I wish it were in a more prominent place as it would seem that Eleanor is still one of the lonely people so do sit with her a while for a photo opportunity.

You will find this modest statue downtown. Commemorates the Beatles famous song and a poignant figure. The statue looks as though it were designed by the same artist who did lots of other statues in town.

The Eleanor Rigby Statue is a beautiful piece of artwork along Stanley Street, the work of singer and entertainer Tommy Steele ,it was unveiled in 1982 and dedicated to " all the lonely people " from The Beatles Revolver album of 1966 ,this to me is were the powerful message is conveyed, the statue is beautiful to view but there's no discernable features to the face ,my interpretation of this is that its a statue to remind us all to be more caring for the homeless on the streets, we're all guilty of walking past these people without looking into their eyes ,their souls to see the suffering they are enduring, that's my take on the statue, I'm probably wrong ,who knows ,its personal feelings I suppose and the feeling a great piece of art brings out of you,its a statue well worth a few minutes of your time if you're walking down Stanley Street.

Along Stanley Street is this fantastic statue dedicated to " all the lonely people " ,the Eleanor Rigby Statue pays homage to the song from The Beatles album " Revolver .
The sculpture was the work of entertainer Tommy Steele ,it's not well detailed but it is emblematic ,there's no discernible features on the face and this is were the message " to all the lonely people " is conveyed ,how many times have we all walked passed a homeless or vulnerable person without even looking at their face ,into their eyes ,I think we've all been guilty of this ,so the statue makes you think, that's my opinion anyway ,it's a statue well worth checking out if you're in the area and easy to locate along Stanley Street.

Good afternoon .Sorry for the late reply. The"Beatles Liverpool" guide book mentions that Tommy Steele inserted a four leaf clover,an adventure book, and I think a puzzle book and a football inside the statue.I hope this helps.
Best regards.
