Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our tour guide walked us down Penny Lane from the roundabout to the sign nearly at the end, a fifteen minute walk. There were dozens of tourists from a bus milling around the sign taking pictures. After ten minutes they cleared out and our guide pointed out what he said was Paul's signature. Sorry ..Could not make it out among all the other scraw. Well, at least I stood there.

That wonderful and famous Beatles song, that goes through your head, at the mention of the name. The street, named after Mr. Penny, has a darker and more infamous side; as Mr. Penny was a ship owner and slave master. The iconic street sign, now resides behind a perspex screen, since Paul McCartney signed it, a few years ago.

Went to Penny Lane on the open top bus trip and stopped for a photo with the road sign. Next we went down Penny Lane and saw places mentioned in the song…I really enjoyed this.

It’s one of those things that even though we aren’t mad Beatles fans we just needed to go & have a look at during our stay in Liverpool.
It’s just a few minutes drive from where we were staying, at the Albert Dock, to Penny Lane. We located the “original” street sign without any problem.

OK, bus loads of tourists stop by the Penny Lane sign and I get it ,fans are fans ,it's a definite must go destination if your a fan of the fab four but to me Penny Lane is home to two of my favourite pubs namely The Dovedale Towers Pub and The Penny Lane Pub ,two fine establishments that offer a warm welcome and great beverages, along Penny Lane is Penny Lane Millennium Green ,a nice park area and just off Penny Lane is St Barnabas Church were Paul McCartney sang in the church choir ,its a great street to check out but remember it's more than a street sign.

We stopped off here on our Beatles Tour bus for a photo opportunity. Tommy, our tour guide, was so friendly that he wanted a photo taken with me and my sister (we'd been able to answer a lot of his Beatles-related questions). Such a lot of fun! And it was thrilling to actually see Penny Lane, walk along it, and see the rest of it from the bus. Fabulous!

I know this place was made famous in a song but I can't imagine what the Beatles were singing about was a manky old sign full of graffiti and covered in a plastic cage. There is nothing in the area and I am sorry if I'm missing something but this was a waste of my time and energy to visit.

(I am 83).

In post war 1952 I was attending St Margarets School in Anfield (just down the road from Liverpool's football training ground)
I had to get a bus from PENNY LANE to get me to school. Because my family were on the poverty line (my dad was a casual docker and my mother was an office cleaner) Liverpool Council funded my school uniform, shirts and shoes.
Plus my bus tickets to get me to school every morning..........down Penny Lane.

Then there was the "Tommy and the Tomcats " Rock'n Roll group....but that's another story....
