Completed in 1978 this is the largest Anglican cathedral in Europe. Inside, the lack of adornments only adds to vastness of the "great space." A combination of elevator and stairs takes visitors to the exterior heights of the tower and some grand views of the city and landscapes below. A small fee is required for the vista experience.

What a beautifully adorned building. It was lovely to see the images of it being made. I feel you could visit every day for a year and see new things every day. It is a monumental building with fabulous architecture and a detailed history of who worked on it. The staff were lovely and supportive. I couldnt choose a favourite... More

They keep telling you, all about the statistics, of the cathedral being the 5th largest in Europe, but it really is impressive, kept beautifully clean, tidy and with extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff.

I only live 30 or so miles away and have visited Liverpool on numerous occasions. I'm ashamed to say that up until yesterday I had never visited the Anglican Cathedral which can be seen for miles around. Parking is available at the Cathedral for a small fee and I was astounded at how big it was when I walked in.... More

When we visited Liverpool Cathedral we didn't realise that it had the highest and widest gothic arches, or that it housed some intriguing works of modern art. But what we enjoyed was an incredible spiritual space. Do make sure that you pay a fiver to climb the tower for incredible views across the city, and stop off on the way... More

If you want to have the pants scared out of you take the 2 elevators up to top of cathedral for a great view of city (on a good day). Best not done on a very windy or foggy day ;-) The building is very impressive and awe inspiring even to someone non religious like me. No fee for admission... More

I'm biased because I'm a Scouser and a Protestant! However I still believe that this is one of the great buildings, definitely in Britain but also the World! Designed by Giles Gilbert Scott work began in 1910 and the Cathedral was officially opened by the queen in 1978!!! That must have been a long strike? (HaHa!) It is beautiful, imposing,... More

We visited Liverpool for a night away and visited the cathedral on Sunday. Knew it would be impressive but wow what a place! Take the tour up the tower for a fiver it's well worth it! The belfry is terrifying but awesome and the view from the top of the tower is immense! Well worth a go!

Remembered being taken here on a school trip when I was 10 - many years ago now! Forgot just how big it was and how amazing the stained glass is. Impressed by the Tracey Emin installation and the friendliness of the guides. One even helped me find the little mouse!
