About
Hi, my name is Tim and Pool of Life Tours is my company. I am a friendly, qualified and fully insured Beatles guide. My most popular tour by far is the Beatles Extravaganza Day Tour which is for the fan that wants to scratch beneath the surface of the Beatles' time in Liverpool. You may know all the songs but it's no substitute for standing in Paul McCartney's bedroom, at the gates of Strawberry Field or beneath John Lennon's 'Aztec' ceiling in the Casbah. I know that for many of you a trip to Liverpool is the trip of a lifetime and my tour gives you time to enjoy the places, take photos in a small group of guests (maximum 8 people) on a full day tour that won't break the bank and includes all admission fees pre-booked and paid in advance. I understand that you have a lot of choice and I won't join the list of tours claiming to be the best, but I will ask you to read just a few of my reviews before you book a tour. They speak for themselves! I look forward to hearing from you soon. English or Spanish available.

My husband and I booked a half day Beatles tour with Tim and Jimmy which was absolutely brilliant. Tim was our guide and he knew so much about the Beatles and took us to see all the main places giving us in depth history and stories about the band and the locations we were visiting.
Thanks to Jimmy's excellent driving skills we got to see so much of Liverpool and both Tim & Jimmy were happy to share their expert knowledge of the area which really enhanced the whole tour. If you want a brilliant tour of the Beatles and/or of Liverpool in a fun, educational and interesting way then definitely book Tim and Jimmy. Thanks again guys for having us and giving us such a memorable experience.

We went in 2018 and it was the experience of a lifetime; we are going to go again in late September but haven't chosen a day yet. Ricky was our tour guide and he was wonderful! The date above is inaccurate because it doesn't let you go further back than 2022 but you have to chose something.

I came with my twin sister on 6/6/2023.
Thank you to Peter, John and Andy for making our tour very interesting and welcoming. Their extensive knowledge throughout both houses with all guides was incredible, thank you well worth a visit along with the driver that picked us up from South Parkway and from Liverpool Centre was very easy to get to.

After years of pandemic procrastination, our three-year communications with Tim, and his Pool of Life Tours, finally paid off and we took our trip. Initially, Liverpool was secondary to the rest of our trip which included London, Paris, and Paris-Disneyland, but that all changed once we met them the day we arrived. Tim and his accommodating driver and secondary guide, Jimmy, took us everywhere we wanted to go, showing us twice what we expected. Having emailed on and off with Tim over our extended planning period, he turned our European favorite to be Liverpool. Their personal historic knowledge they have, of things we had only read about and envied for decades (old, baby-boomers we are), brought us into their fold as if we were always a part of it, something they did, without intention or effort. They just made us part of their circle, part of the family. At my request, Tim also made arrangements for Jimmy to drive us 90km east to another suburb, we had reasons to visit, and drop us off afterward for our next adventure by rail to London at the Lime Street Rail Station, even though neither my wife nor I wanted to leave. You just can't do any better for a combination of the sites and the inside real-time knowledge they offer. We will be going back and, in the meantime, recommending Pool of Life Tours and Tim to anyone who asks. Thank you so, so much Tim. And thanks to Jimmy, too. You are the best representation of Liverpool and very likely, the best memory of all for us. Hope to see you again....mick & shari

It's taken us a while to get back to normality after our weekend away, however, I wanted to contact you to give you our biggest thanks and appreciation for all that you have done for us.

During the booking process you were so patient with all my questions and ensuring that I booked with security and with peace of mind that we would see all that we wanted.

I cannot stress enough how fantastic Ricky was, he made our entire experience so much better than we could have ever expected, his knowledge and passion for his job shines through from the moment you meet him & his dedication to ensuring that we had the best possible day was outstanding.

From the moment we got into the taxi we felt safe, comfortable & were laughing & listening to stories both personal to himself and those he knew.

As you know we booked Colin Hanton to join us on the tour, which was money so well spent and I can only encourage that others to the same, what an incredible man! His humour and quick wit made the experience all the more enjoyable and listening to him and Ricky chat and reminisce was the best part, he was an absolute delight and the pleasure is well and truly all ours to have been fortunate to spend time with both him and Ricky.

There were many personal touches that Ricky and Colin made that just re-enforced how different your tours are and how you genuinely enjoy what you do and get job satisfaction from providing your customers with the up most rewarding service.

If we could, we would do it again & again, purely spending time with Ricky was worth it & I can assure you that all your efforts have not gone unnoticed, if anyone ever plans to visit your lovely city, we will definitely be passing along your details!

Words cannot stress how thankful I am for such a once in a lifetime experience, Michael had the best birthday and we are both still in awe of all you have done for us.

Please send big hugs & our love across to Ricky, the Kodak King & we hope to meet again in 'Liddypool'!

Many thanks,

Tamzin & Michael Green.

Got in touch with Tim and worked out a 3-hour tour which is enough time to do everything ! The driver-guide Ricky was at the hotel on the dot for the personalised tour. There was some confusion on the length of the tour but that was quickly sorted out. The driver-guide grew up near Penny Lane and is a huge Beatles/music fan so it was nice to have added insights and a few extra stops around Liverpool that only local fans would know about. Standing on Penny Lane, peeping into the barbershop, seeing Strawberry Fields as Lennon would have and meeting Eleanor Rigby at the Church made the trip to Liverpool meaningful. More special was meeting the women who keep the spirit of Strawberry Fields alive (yes, Strawberry Fields forever...) and visiting the beautiful bombed out church. The tour ended at the docks on our request (it was pointless to go back to the hotel & walk back again) and Ricky was obliging. He also gave tips on where to enjoy good local food.

We got the VIP treatment on this full-day Beatles tour! We were taken around Liverpool in our own private cab and hit all of the historic sites--Penny Lane, Strawberry Field, etc. I highly suggest choosing a day when you can visit the childhood homes of Paul McCartney and John Lennon. Wow! My boyfriend is a devoted Beatles fan, and he loved it! I am a causal fan, and I found it fascinating! Very impressed with Pool of Life Tours.

My husband is a huge Beatles fan, so when I was making plans for our trip to Liverpool I knew I needed to find a tour that would be detailed enough to keep him entertained. After some google searching, I emailed Pool of Life and Tim responded. We booked a date and he asked for 1/2 payment down as a place holder. I paid him via Paypal.
Fast forward to the end of September and we arrived in Liverpool. Tim was responsive with emails and let us know that Ricky would be picking us up outside of our hotel. Sure enough, that morning, Ricky was right on time. He picked us up in a taxi cab which was spacious and comfy for the day. It was just us! He was so kind, friendly, always opening and doors for us, asking questions to see how much we knew and what he may be able to teach us. Ricky knows his stuff!! He grew up in Liverpool and showed us, not just Beatles things, but other parts of the city. My husband had the time of his life!!!! Ricky took pictures for us wherever we wanted, too. We went to Penny lane, the barber shop, strawberry fields, E.Rigby's grave, John's house, Paul's house, The Casbah, a couple of museums, everything!!!! Ricky drove us around for 7 1/2 HOURS that Saturday! I can not say enough good about booking a tour through Tim/Pool of life. Everything was included, except a couple little things here and there. Be sure you bring some cash. You will not be disappointed! THANK YOU, TIM AND RICKY!!!

I came with my family all the way from Italy for my Dad’s 70th birthday. I decided to book a guided tour to go straight where the story of the Fab 4 started and learn more about where they came from! I was a bit afraid cause we where traveling with my 2 kids of 5 and 10 and my dad who doesn’t actually speaks English but booking the tour with Tim was the best thing I could do! I wish I could have done the all day tour! We all have been more than happy! Tim has such a huge knowledge about not only the Beatles but music in generale and of course Liverpool. Thank you so much Tim. We will definitely contact you again if we will come back!

It's been just over two months since doing our tour with Pool of Life... apologies to Tim for taking so long to write this! Firstly, I just wanted to say how seamless everything was in planning our tour. Tim was really quick to respond to emails and we sorted everything really easily. We did our tour with Ricky, the coolest guy you'll ever meet. Speaking with Ricky is like talking to a friend you've known forever. We had the best time driving around Liverpool and spending the day with our tour group. Ricky took us to so many places, even places that weren't on the itinerary. You really cannot beat a full day of visiting all these iconic spots and hearing stories from someone who was born and raised on Penny Lane. One of our favourite stops was at the Casbah - such an eye-opening experience. There are a lot of options for Beatles tours when you visit Liverpool, but you MUST do this tour with Pool of Life if you are a big Beatles fan. Seriously, take the extra time and spend the extra money to do this tour. You won't regret it. Thank you again to Tim and Ricky for an amazing experience. We still talking about it everyday.
