This is a good place to go on a cold, wet day, where the historic areas blend with the modernised parts. Read or browse in the amazing old, galleried, circular library. Look into local history with helpful assistants. Sit with gorgeous books on film, mediterranean gardens or just read the papers & have a coffee or lunch in The Deli... More

It was, for me, a flying visit but there appeared nothing to not like here. The reading room was beautiful.

The central library was rebuilt a few years ago and has a lovely airy foyer, good coffee shop and loads of computers, space and an amazing children's section. The real highlight, however, is the old parts of the building - especially the stunning circular reading rooms. They are slightly harder to find and need a bit of wandering but are... More

Wish that there's such library at my town so that I can go everyday. It's the best library I had been to till date. Can spend whole day here and won't feel the time tickle.

The Picton Reading Room is Liverpool's very own British Museum Library. While I can't guarantee you'll find the ghost of Karl Marx sitting at one of the many computer terminals installed here - if he was alive and well and living in Liverpool at this time, I'm sure he would have chosen Liverpool's Central Library over the fusty old British Museum... I have loved central library ever since my first visit. It has excellent facilities and the reading room is gorgeous. The library also has events on sometimes. I went to a silent disco in the reading room for light night which was fantastic!
