- John W109 contributionsWow!We'd never been here before and thought it was wonderful. Great to see so many people enjoying the sunshine, there's plenty of room for everyone. The palm house is wonderful. Never seen a better park in England. Only disappointment - none of o the cafes serves scouse!Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 May 2024

The palm house is amazing inside, god knows how they keep all them plants looking like they do. The reception was absolutely fantastic in a lovely setting. - J01Liverpool, United Kingdom505 contributionsGreat for a lazy day in the sun.Well recommended for that lazy day in the sun, take a picnic and you will have a lovely time. Plenty of grassed areas to lounge and a great place for walks, the perimeter I believe is just over 2 miles if you walk it, great exercise. Lots of parking but can get busy, dog friendly as well. There a cafe for tea and coffee and I think light snacks we never went there as e had our picnic, definitely a regular here. Just watch out if driving and be alert of the new speed limits, new limits well signposted.Visited June 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 29 September 2024

As a local, i have been here many many times before. The park is huge, so many hectares. So much exploring, so many paths to take, so many things to see, wear your comfy shoes as you’ll get carried away on your little adventure.
The gorgeous palm house, its historic beauty looking amazing at pretty much any time of day. Today i went for sun rise with my dogs, (its boasts an amazing sunrise) it has the old fashioned lamposts lighting the pathways, which i love, so many different shrubs, plants, trees, flowers etc. Squirrels running freely - theres feeders in the trees at eye level.
I love the little fairy water garden. We have a replica of the fountain, lovely lakes, a life size statue of William rathbone - the guy who provided relief to the famine in Ireland, and provided washrooms/toilets to the public. Statue of peter pan which i think is within the palm house grounds, and a very bright and beautiful bandstand next to the lake.
I love history and this park is packed with it, my favourite part must be the aviary, upon first glance it looks like kinda an ugly curved bare wall (check the information point nearby to view how it was constructed) this was , as the name suggests, an aviary to birds such as parrots just to name one. It was a huge attraction until conservation was looked into further and thankfully this was then removed, well the cages were, what is left is the back curved wall to give you around about idea of how it were.
What i love about this is how many birds are still within the area, its absolutely packed with birds popping in and out of bushes and nesting within the area.
The fun part is how the park has formed bridges in the way of stepping stones. So jumping from large stone to stone to cross the lake feels like a childhood adventure all in itself.
10/10 for this park. Amazing.

We chose Sefton Park when the lockdown arrangement started to be relaxed and we were glad that we did. The park is huge and was well enjoyed on a sunny day with several thousand people being out. Do not overly worry about Covid, everybody was social distancing and kids were under control s well as dogs. Of course be aware that there are no toilets open but you could queue for refreshments and Ice Cream at the kiosk. The incredible Palm house was not open but you can walk directly around it and grab a coffee there as well. You can see the Eros statue and take a pleasant stroll around the lake, so nothing is stopping you as long as you remain socially responsible ans sensible.

Surely must be one of the best parks anywhere it’s massive and beautifully looked after. The main purpose of my visit was to enjoy an evening in the magnificent Palm House for a string quartet concert which was most enjoyable. A bar available albeit quite expensive.

We’ve been to Liverpool loads and never visited here. We’re so glad we made it this time! It’s a gorgeous place to while away a few hours. Clean, spacious and with a beautiful botanical garden. It’s a shame the boats weren’t open (Covid, we assume) but it was lovely to sit around the lake and watch the ducks and swans. We enjoyed the grotto and fairy garden. Do visit this park, it’s gorgeous and a lovely space to find in a busy city.

Visited this park recently for the first time over the Easter weekend. Its a fabulous park and open space and a real treasure for the merseyside area. Unfortunately, like so many municipal parks, it has been let go a little and is in need of some TLC. /there are no planted out flower beds, the fountain near the cafe doesn't work, there are some signs of small scale vandalism etc. Its a great shame and its up to the local authority and local people to look after this great asset.

Beautiful park any day of the year.
So much to see, it would take a good 5 hours minimum to walk around most of the park, down the paths and see all the stature, water features, monuments, palm house, cafes, band stand....a park that takes you away from the city and into a green oasis. 5 stars all round. So beautiful

This is a lovely big park with a huge lake, lots of wildlife. There is a cafe which sells all different kinds of ice-creams, sweet treats and coffee. There is also a good sized play area for children. Lots of little pathways to explore..

The park is home to a large lake, which is supposed to be a major attraction. However, the lake was dirty and full of algae. There were also a lot of geese and ducks, which were pooping all over the place.
The park is also very crowded, especially on weekends. It is difficult to find a quiet spot to relax, and there are always people littering and making noise.
The park is not very well-maintained. The pathways are cracked and uneven, and the flowerbeds are overgrown. There are also a lot of graffiti and litter around.

Beautiful spaces, plenty of free parking, clean and very child friendly. Nice people there with a very friendly atmosphere. Plenty of beautiful areas to explore with our 2, 3 and 4 year olds.
The Palm House and surrounding gardens were stunning and there was a beautiful cafe and ice cream shop nearby. Our children loved the huge play area and we enjoyed it so much, we're returning next week!

Cafes in Sefton Park? Google says the Palm House is shut tomorrow. Are there any other cafes in Sefton Park itself please? Thank you

What bus takes you nearest to the palm house from Lime Street and how far is it to walk from bus stop to palm house

Hi, I hope you can help me, I am disabled and would love to visit the park, and have some lunch/picnic. How far a walk away from the entrance is the cafe.
Thank you for your time
Written 16 March 2023
Hi there . if you come to the park from the Sefton Park Rd direction then the big avenue of trees leads you to the cafe. Thats about one quarter of a mile . There is another cafe at the south end of the lake which is near the ornamental gates through which traffic goes to the main road. That might be a better choice as it is very near the edge of the Park . It always seems to be open in ( daytime hours) .

This is also a park where John Lennon and Paul McCartney used when young, Not that far from Lennon or McCartney's boyhood homes and just a few blocks from Pennylane

Are there any dates 8-15th August when palm house will be closed
Written 29 March 2019
Palm house in Sefton park is open every day ,unless it’s booked for a wedding, you will need to go on their Webb site to find out if it’s booked
Written 30 March 2019
Can you ac tually park your car in the park or nearby.
Written 27 August 2018
Yes you can park in specific roads that are on the edge of the park for free however if you park in side roads I would ask that you be respectful to local residences and do not block access.
