Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was really disopointed with the food we ordered from Nowhere. I think it is over priced for really below average food. I had high expectations after viewing their food pics on instergram. Its such a shame because its a lovely bar to go for a few cocktails and good music.... but for the food I'd honestly give it a miss. The takeaway tasted like it had all just been reheated up.

Great place, really beautiful surroundings. Plenty of places to eat drink and visit friendly people and good old fashion pubs with pub grub in a lot of them. Typical funny scouse sense of humour. Just a couple of miles outside of town would be perfect for a break.......it's still good and I'm here on business unfortunately.

We took the bus from Liverpool to Woolton Village and worked out way back to visit the Beatles sites. There is a lot of small shops in this affluent neighborhood. I'd suggest spending a few hours and enjoy the neighborhood.

I have lived in Woolton for over 30 years & now I am retired volunteer with several local groups, so I can find lots more to say than one of your reviewers.
Woolton was an independent village until it was swallowed up by the City of Liverpool in 1913. In November 2013 an plaque marking the centenary was unveiled by the Lord Mayor. Old Woolton was based around the quarry, where the local pink sandstone was worked, & many local buildings are built in this material, as well as Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral.
Woolton in Bloom is responsible for the many floral displays which have won a string of gold medals from the Royal Horticultural Society over the past decade. In 2014 WIB is in the Champion of Champions category, with judging in late July.
Woolton has many beautiful old buildings, including the Grade 1 listed Woolton Hall, & the 19th century Mechanics Institute, now a private home. Also notable are the Victorian public baths & nearby library, both sadly now closed. During Heritage Open Day, which this year will be Saturday 13th September, The Woolton Society will be conducting walking tours of the village, as well as Beatles tours, & all for no charge. See the website www.wooltonsociety.org.uk for more details.
Then there is the Beatles connection, which is what most people want to know about. First stop is usually St Peter's church hall on Church Road, where a plaque marks the place where John Lennon met Paul McCartney at the church fete in 1957. Over the road in the churchyard is the grave of Eleanor Rigby, while up the road lies Strawberry Field, once a children's home, & Mendips, the semi where John grew up with Aunt Mimi.
There are also many, many, pubs cafes & restaurants to feed & water visitors, plus the oldest (1926) independent cinema in the city.
Over the years I have conducted many friends around Woolton on my own mini-tour, & the most common reaction from those who do not know the city has been "What a beautiful place this is. You wouldn't know that it was in Liverpool." I am still trying to decide if this is a compliment or not.

Casual visitors to Woolton Village may be disappointed. At first glance, it is a typical, affluent, suburban collection of shops, restaurants and houses. But look a little more carefully and there is lots to see. The village retains a quaint, self-contained character and is a designated conservation area. There was once a lake, but this was drained to extinguish a fire at a nearby factory and is now a car park. A short walk leads to the hall where the Beatles first played. A little further on and one discovers Woolton Quarry, from which the red sandstone was hewn to construct Liverpool' Anglican Cathedral. The "cliffs" that remain rise majestically above the houses that now fill the quarry basin and provide a dramatic backdrop. Elsewhere, there are some good restaurants and cafés, an eclectic mix of little shops, an independent cinema and some attractive parkland. I would recommend that visitors combine a visit here with a Beatles heritage tour, but do a little research first and Woolton Village will not disappoint.

I phoned to make a booking for 2 people for a Friday evening, i was told over the phone they did not take bookings for 2... just to arrive so we did, we arrived at 7.30 the resturant was busy upon arrival a member of staff asked if i had booked! I explained that i did try to book for 2 over the phone the waiter said oh ok
we can sort a table for 2 and asked us to wait at the back in the seating area by the bar, we were told to have a drink & we would have a table in 20 mminutes we ordered drinks, waited for over 30 minutes in the waiting area there was at least 15 people waiting for a table some had booked we sat by a family of 4 who had been waiting for 40 minutes & that was with a booking! A waiter came over & asked if we wanted to order more drinks! We asked abt a table we were waiting on, he said we are busy & would call us over as soon as one was ready so after our drinks & nearly a 45 wait we left & went to Dostana in Woolton village, no booking the resturant was busy but we were accomodated as always, a lovely resturant with very pleasant staff & great food.

Not the same as it used to be. Too much traffic, it has really gone down the pan. It's very commercial. My birthplace & childhood home is not the beautiful, quaint village it was. Too many property developer's throwing new residences and flats up some not in keeping with the natural, surroundings.

Woolton is an old suburban district of Liverpool, with lots of history, interesting little shops, pretty tea rooms, restaurants and a lot more. Here, you can find the hall where the Beatles first performed, Cilla Black's local church, the sandstone quarry used for the city's magnificent Anglican cathedral and much, much more.

Parking is not particularly easy, it is true, but most of the houses have no garages, so the side streets are pretty full most of the time.

It is also a fact that we have two large supermarkets, one at either side, but they are pretty well concealed, have their own self-contained car parking and, at the end of the day, local people do have to live!

Woolton and the neighbouring Gateacre Village are blessed with lots of green spaces and access by public transport is very good, with the South Parkway transport hub just a mile away.
