Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Most avid golfers come to the Liverpool area to play the three Open venues hear, but there are other hidden games of which Wallasey is definitely one. It has a great history starting with the original design by Old Tom Morris. In 1930 Bobby Jones played a qualifying round here and became an ardent fane. The club commissioned the famous portrait of him that you see in the Masters clubhouse. However the original one signed by Jones is in the clubhouse at Wallasey. As is the portrait of Dr. Frank Stableford who invented the scoring system named after him and was a member here.
The course winds its way through a series of coastal dunes with some truly great holes such as 4, 9, 11, 12, 17 and 18. It is in magnificent condition with immaculate greens. It is a true links course so expect wind and for the course to play much longer than its stated yardage because of the many holes into the wind. Because you cross uip and down the dunes a number of times its a more difficult walk than many links courses.
One of the nicest things about Wallasey is the unpretentiousness of the place compared to many other links courses. The people are very welcoming and the price to play considerably less than better known courses. I would make this a must play when you are planning a Liverpool golf trip.

I'm not a golfer - but went here yesterday for a funeral wake. A sad occasion, but I just wanted to say that the buffet was really superb and particularly the friendly, speedy and first class attention paid to me by the Chef Stu. I mentioned to him that I had a Wheat Allergy and he immediately said he would put together a gf sandwich for me. In no time at all I was served the best plate of ham & chicken toastie, plus drizzled side salad that I've ever had - wonderful. This sympathetic catering for someone with an allergy is sadly very unusual and definitely deserves noting. I hope someone at the Club passes this on to him with due praise.

We play at another local Wirral club , but were kindly invited to Wallasey by a member as a birthday gift for my son.
As soon as you pull into the car park , the sense of history with the traditional club house hits you . The pro shop staff were extremely friendly and helpful
On to the course and although my own golf on the day was awful , none of this had anything to do with the course which I can only describe as sublime. Perfectly manicured greens that run true without bobbles or deviation, crisp clear fairways . well defined rough and beautiful sculptured grass paths all set in lovely rolling dunes on the Wirral coast.
The bunkers ( and I visited most of them ) were difficult , were fantastic , lots of clean stone free soft sand giving confidence to dig in and take the shot aggressively . The greens stunning
Make no mistake , this is a golfers course , and not for the feint hearted , challenging testing and with the wind a true fight , and all the better for it , some truly outstanding holes which are not all about belting the ball as hard as possible but rather craft , guile and a good golf brain. A golfers golf course.
The day was cut short through no fault of anyone's dues to lightening storms and we had to depart half way around. but even there Wallasey's class come to the fore with an instant offer to allow us to replay the round free of charge.
If you are looking for a stunning golf course , that treats visitors well , with a beautiful backdrop with fantastic views of coast and sea , look no further.

What a fantastic experience. We visited & played while the Open Championship was taking place down the road at Hoylake.
Wallasey is an excellent traditional links, a good test of golf but playable and fair especially off the forward tees. I really enjoyed the round but having visited many golf clubs in Ireland/UK & US what makes Wallasey stand out is the welcome we were given by the club, it’s staff and it’s members. From the moment we arrived we were treated as welcome guests, given a nice history of the club and chatted through the things to look out for on the course. Special call out to Tony & Gary, you are great ambassadors for your club and can be rightly proud of it. I’m looking forward to getting back soon.

Have visited this a few times lovely in the summer right by the shore , got sunburned on the course, went as a novice golfer. Was looked after very cheap price and great course to learn golf . well looked after ,we lost a jumper on way round , and it was handed in to the office . will be back again. This is better than Aintree race course as it offers a better course and test your golf . We where left to enjoy our day with out expert show off golfers and could relax brilliant.

I recently took part on a golf day here and this us the most beautiful golf course I've ever played on, the greens were fantastic and the fairways were in excellent condition and the rough has a large number of my recently purchased golf balls .
If you are able to hold a company golf day here you should go for it you won't be disappointed, everything about this venue smacks of class.
The views off some of the tees are spectacular with Morecambe bay on the horizon... Great day had by all.

A fantastic course. There was nothing to not love about it, maybe apart from the 10th!. Open class! A rock solid 5 stars for this course. We all look forward to returning to it.

Got lucky with the weather and played this course at probably it's tamest with minimal wind.
Spectacular views and some stand out holes. The rough was tough to escape from so need to be on the short stuff.
Welcoming staff and food and beer top notch.
Friendly people.
I didn't play well but still enjoyed the course which I guess says it all.

The home of Dr Stableford who invented the current points scoring system used in Club Golf. Steeped in history and with one fabulous hole after another. If the wind really blows it could be very tough but it was gorgeous throughout the 3 days we were there
