About
Have fun learning to ride or improving your skills, with top quality tuition and great horses in a beautiful outdoor setting. You can learn to ride without leaving the City, in the beautiful outdoor setting of the former Earl of Sefton's stables in Croxteth Country Park, Liverpool's biggest park. Our instructors are experienced, fun to work with, suitably qualified and we are proud of our teaching success. Our Pony Club team are currently the national champions (of the UK Pony Club Centres). We are equally proud of our horses and ponies. We own all of them, so we know how important it is to select the best and look after them well. We teach lessons in a fenced outdoor riding school with a sand surface (known as a menage) and also in the fields in summer. You can also ride out (hack) on the bridle tracks in the Park.We are open six days a week (closed Mondays), with daytime and evening lessons under floodlights.A British Horse Society Approved Riding Centre.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

I rode here as a teenager in the early 1980s and it gave me a lifelong love of riding. My teenage daughter started riding here today and really enjoyed it. The young woman who took the lesson was really friendly and professional and my daughter felt relaxed and confident and can’t wait to go again. Friendly environment and horses with a lovely temperament. Cater for all levels and well organised and welcoming.
The photograph shows me in 1982 next to a picture of my daughter today.

My daughter's have been riding at Croxteth since they were kids and they persuaded me to give it a go. I'm a reasonably fit man in my 60s with no experience of horses at all. Well I absolutely loved it. The staff are very patient, the setting is quiet and rural, but the best thing of course are the horses. I hadn't realised what character they have and what a bond you can form with them. Yes it's very physically demanding even for half an hour, but that's all part of the challenge. You should give it a go too !

Me and my step-mum came here and the first one was great around croxteth forest! Today was my first lessons and although it was raining I learned a lot of stuff for a first lesson! My first horse was blue and my lesson horse was Tim and both were wonderful! I love it here and I give it a 5+ stars because it's a great horse riding school/centre. Wonderful staff too they are really nice and when you ask for their phone number they don't say ''oh just go to the website :/'' they write it down for you as well. They let you look at the lessons while they're gong on as well.

I took my granddaughter as a birthday treat. She was fitted with boots and hat from a friendly and helpful member of staff. Erika was then led to her pony and was helped into the saddle by a younger volunteer. Off they went on a 45 minute walk. We had to wait for their return, so went for a short walk. On Erika's return, she was happy and said she loved it.
Cost was £14, which I thought was reasonable. On site car parking and presume there was facilities, but we didn't use them. Friendly staff and beautiful horses and ponies.

My daughter really enjoyed attending a pony party here. Well mannered ponies and knowledgable staff. Quiet hack through the park which all the children enjoyed.

My daughter has been riding at this stables for several years now and thoroughly still enjoys it to this day. She is also part of their pony club and enjoys the events that are held throughout the year for the children. The staff are friendly encouraging and enthusiastic and always help the children to overcome their fears and anxieties to help them ride with confidence. Viv the lady who runs the stables is a fantastic teacher and uses great teaching techniques and discipline with the children and you can see the dramatic difference in the children in a small amount of time would recommend to anyone!
