Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went in the cafe at 5.35pm surly almost disinterested reception. Served in horrible takeaway cups and only told me afterwards it was takeaway after 5.30pm. The Peppermint tea tasted bitter and tasted like stored with green tea. I tried to speak with the server who just pointed to the sink as to indicate just throw it down the drain and just smiled showing me a jar. The staff were totally uninterested and we felt like intruders rather than customers. Really pricey as well for tiny cups, £6.60 for two small drinks, one being a bitter peppermint tea.

We have visited FACT in the past and staying in the City made use of their excellent facilities again. The Oscar winning film was being shown on one of the centre screens so it was a no brainier to book in advance. Very comfortable seats, a good bar and centrally situated in the City. The whole multi purpose arts building is very vibrant, the art galleries interesting and the staff welcoming. We will be back again

Jul 2023 • Family
My wife and I met our daughter and her family here for some good old fashioned family fun, as Chevy would say. We first enjoyed a coffee and then took our granddaughter to play some video games in the arcade. She loved sitting on my lap playing a motorcycle game. However, I enjoyed playing quite an unusual game called Uterusman. Yes, that is the name of the game (see photo). Actually, it was a game in which you collected red and white blood cells to fight off cancer. So, I imagine proceeds are going to fight uterine cancer. At least, I hope so. The cinema is also very nice as we watched the latest Indiana Jones movie. A great family day was enjoyed by all.

My gosh - I cannot rave about the Canteen enough. It has a glorious selection of food that appeals to someone who has lost most of their taste and smell courtesy of Covid-19. So much texture in each dish, and yes, I have sampled all of them. Couple that with extreme swoonage from those that could taste at my table, and this was a perfect place to dine before a movie. Make it happen. You won't be disappointed. The potatoes are a MUST if you like textures and unique flavours - as is the green sauce. Be brave. You will be disappointed if you aren't. Add in to this combination outstanding staff and your dining experience will be one of the best in Liverpool. Well done FACT for adding this to your already impressive repertoire of amazingness.

I went to FACT to see a documentary film. The cinema is nice. The cinemas are on the 3rd floor. There is a lift. There is a kiosk on the 3rd floor selling snacks such as popcorn and drinks. The seating is a bit small for me. I will be back likely because they show good and important films here.

I love the Fact. Always have. Love the Fact in that it shows films you can't see anywhere else. Has great exhibitions, an exhilarating artistic vibe, live screening of West End theatre.
You feel like you've arrived at a little cultural oasis until....you encounter the staff.
Is there like a special criteria to work there?
Do they have to attend the special arm folding module?
This is what you are greeted with at the box office ( and this is not a one off, I've been attending for years ).
It's like running the gauntlet of a lot of angry adolescents.
They all but throw their heads back and huff " Oh for God's sake you're so embarrassing" regardless of what show you're going to see.
What's worse some of them have not seen adolescence for donkeys years but still " they're working in culture innit?" And don't you forget it.
May I suggest your management visit the Light Cinema in New Brighton and see how it's done?
It's quite easy. Smile. How may I help you?. Take the money. Enjoy your film. Smile again. Next?
And remember sneering bearded ( or not ) black t shirted, angry tattooed armed ( or not ) staff.
Like it or not you are here to serve the public and the public is what pays the rent on your bedsit.

Whether it's the cost of cinema membership or drinks at the bar then FACT has become overpriced and increasingly exclusive.
It's £52 for a standard cinema membership which as of a few months ago no longer comes with the ability to accrue points as it did for many years. Also if you want a double gin with apple juice say. Then you best get a tenner and some change out because that's how much it will cost you unless you a member. Then you have the privilege of paying just £7.80 as I did.
I have no complaints about staff or the building and can't comment on the exhibitions. It's purely down to cost and as someone who regularly frequented FACT for several years, it's no longer value for money and it seems to be targeting a more affluent customer base or at least taking advantage of it.

Having been a regular at the old cafe, we tried out the new and improved cafe tonight, and were deeply disappointed. Having asked for a "plain cheese sandwich, no salad or anything" it arrived smothered in pesto- what is so difficult to understand about the word "plain"? My friend had a chicken and lentil salad and was quite ill within minutes of eating it. The chocolate mousse was powdery and solid and not in the slightest bit moussy.
The new menu is over fussy, way too many flavours on one plate and clearly makes me wonder if the chef has confidence issues. The highly pretentious menu serves only to delight those who would buy the emperor's new clothes. Service was good, but we wont be eating there again, which will impact on where we choose to go to the cinema in future. We always in the past were prepared to sacrifice access to parking to make an evening of it after work with a light yet hot snack followed by a good movie, now the cold and innedible options and over zealous parking wardens mean we will be taking our business elsewhere.

I have to say that I've been going to FACT for about 7 years and Picturehouse is always a great experience. The staff of picturehouse are friendly, real people that serve some of Liverpool's most pretentious and ridiculous people. I've heard some outrageous requests from people in the building and couldn't blame the staff for occasionally seeming a little hacked off - I would be.
The building is always clean, friendly, inviting and offers a full range of visual experiences.
I preferred the cafe when it was less corporate, had a varied perosnal touch to its menu and didn't play the same droll music but they seem to get on with what they have and good on them.
I think visitors to FACT need to take remember that the staff are dealing with arty folk - never easy - cut them a break, they're open 12 hours a day and work hard to keep give us another option to the odeon.

Been here a few times. Each time received terrible service, the girl behind the bar never has a smile on her face nor do the main reception who don't seem to know what they're doing half the time.
