About
The Dominion Theatre is one of the largest and most perfectly designed theatrical venues in London. It is home to a wide auditorium where every seat has a perfect view, a wealth of hospitality suites, impressive public foyers and large bar areas. Located directly above Tottenham Court Road tube station it is easy to find and easy to get to by public transport. The Dominion is also home to Dominion Events, the Dominion Theatre's in house Events department. They hire out and organise events, meetings and corporate events and hospitality in the theatre's 9 event spaces which include the Main Auditorium, The Studio and The Boardroom. In September 2014 the Dominion Theatre completed a 4 month long, multi million pound refurbishment project to restore the theatre to her original 1929 grandeur.

- DavefromtherigsNorwich, United Kingdom15 contributionsRoyal Lounge experience makes it an 11 out of 10Lovely old theatre, and a brilliant show. We did the royal lounge experience and it turned a good night into a great night. Able to skip the q to get in first, very helpful and friendly girls in the lounge made it a real experience. The Elf show was brilliant fun. Really made our Christmas trip to London a great memoryVisited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 January 2024
- Paula8002Leicester, United Kingdom333 contributionsRoyal box experienceThe theatre is a beautiful one and the show was incredible - The King and I with Helen George and Darren Lee, just wonderful acting, dancing and singing. The reason for only 3 stars is we sat in the Royal Box as special treat but other than being showed to the box by staff there were no other staff attending to the box. It was disappointing that the overall experience didn't really match that of sitting in a Royal box. Views great, seats great but experience lacking.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 February 2024

Acting, dancing and singing were outstanding Only down side was the drink prices. Had a glass of average wine and it was £13.50. Didn’t have an interval drink funnily enoughVisited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 11 February 2024

- jayney69London, United Kingdom110 contributionsExcellent Accessible ExperienceWent last night to see The King & I which was fabulous. We had accessible seating which I had booked over the phone with the theatre previously. I should also say that we needed to change our tickets due to illness previously and this was done without any problems as well. This has got to be one of the best theatres we’ve been to for disabled access. We were accompanied by (I think) Michael, from the front foyer to the side entrance which has step free access direct into the Nederlander Box. The box seats 4 - essentially 2 wheelchairs (either seated or transferable) and 2 carers. There was plenty of room for all 4 of us. There’s also a separate accessible toilet available for just this box. Michael was excellent, collecting our drinks and programme before the show, ice creams and the interval and then helping us at the end. The box had an excellent view of the stage, and also of the orchestra pit which was interesting. I would definitely recommend the Dominion for an accessible show.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 February 2024

The only thing about this theatre is that you constantly hear and feel the tube trains thundering by throughout the performance. Realistically not much can be done about that and you do get used to it after an hour or so.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 February 2024

- derek61Newmarket, United Kingdom911 contributionsWonderful ShowWe came at the end of the first week of Sister Act and what a wonderful show excellent singing from all cast members. Based broadly on the film. Beverley Knight as expected great singer and actress. Ruth Jones, Lesley Joseph, Lemar and Clive Rowe as the well known main cast but all the cast fantastic. The theatre is wonderful inside the stalls however are not very sloped so view could be obscured, as could a wide side view due to the rounded sides of the scenery. Bar not too busy but a usual experience. Great show go and watch and enjoy.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 March 2024
- bluemissileReading, United Kingdom404 contributionsLovely Theatre. Sister Act great show.Went to see Sister Act l. What a superb show. Loved it from beginning to end. All the cast gave it their all, and it showed in the show. The Dominion Theatre is 1 of the best we have been to in London. Easy to navigate around. But getting in and out of the theatre was a lot easier and quicker than most theatres. We sat in the circle row A seats 38 and 39 great seats.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 March 2024

Not a single song from the film was included and most of the songs was very samey. Was so excited to see this as I love the films so if that's what u are expecting don't bother booking ticketsVisited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 27 April 2024

A beautiful theatre. Very spacious with friendly staff. The show (The Prince of Egypt) was incredible. The opening scene alone had an ovation so loud that I didn't think it would stop (and it was fully deserved).
I bought circle seats A11-12 as they were cheap, due to the restricted view warning, but as you can free from the image it isn't really restricted at all! You can easily look around the barrier - the view was amazing!
I Would highly recommend coming to see this incredible show!

Saw this musical last night and we were looked after by Kane who made sure everything was extra special. His enthusiasm about the musical helped us to feel relaxed and more excited about the show. The musical itself was brilliant and all singers were out of this world!
I really recommend everyone to give this a try and there is no way you will be disappointed.

Booked this as a festive present over the week of christmas. Tickets were as usual expensive for a group of 4 people. I ordered seats in the Dress Circle apprehensive about the view but was pleasantly surprised at how great the view was.
It is a small theater with only the stalls and the dress circle and I found I had no obstruction to the stage throughout the entire performance. Theatre itself was very beautiful with a nice stage. Huge bar area which meant we did not feel cramped when getting beverages.
Also liked how the theatre was decorated very festive for the holidays which was in tune with the show itself.
White Christmas was a delight to watch. The old-school 50's musical got a new lease of life in this production and improved on the source material. The cast was funny and endearing throughout the show. There was also excellent dancing from the production.
I liked the inclusion of different races and the brief gay kiss from the sub-plot backstage characters. It is great to see LGBTQ+ community represented in the theatre were they belong.

Just been to see Elf the Musical with young family - show was great, I want to comment on the venue. Beautiful huge theatre but the management of it, very lacking. Huge queues to get in - didn’t let people in until nearly 7pm resulting in a huge surge of people that could have been avoided. View of the stage from stalls was great but for £120 a ticket (even for the children) it wants to be! As our children were young and small we went to get two booster seats which are now chargeable at £1 each. I mean....seriously?! A charge for a booster seat?!! Should be ashamed of yourselves. To avoid the interval queues we tried to order from the link texted over but due to no service and the very poor Dominion Wi-fi we gave up. Poor signage for the stalls toilets meant us having to walk up to the circle to find the gents.
All in all, could do a lot better as a customer experience.

I watch The Prince Of Egypt here. While the shows itself is great (review completed under the show) the theatre is really a let down.
I was in Row T of the stalls and my tickets was not cheap.
Occassionally during the performance you can hear and feel the underground tube passing by as the station is built on top of Tottenham Court Road Station.
The seating is raked in stalls but rather than having each seat installed in between the seat in front, each seat is directly behind the seat in front. I spent most of the show contorting my body to get a view of the stage that wasn't blocked by the head of the person in front. Why wasn't this fixed in the last refurb? You simply alternatively stagger each row for better viewing.
The cold winds from the front entrance blow directly on you when the doors are open so I was cold until the show started.
I also found it strange that they allowed glass into the stalls, I tripped twice on peoples random glasses that had rolled to my feet.
I purchased a bottle of wine before the show and was told that I could leave the second half of it at the bar for collection during the interval. They actually leave it on an upstairs table with your name on it. I find it unhygienic (especially now when we have a corona virus threat) for the theatre to allow random people to pick up and put down my bottle while searching for their name. I have no idea where their hands have been.
Other than the fact that this theatre is conveniently located next to the tube, I have nothing good to say.

Booked our disabled son (autism , diabetes and ADHD) tickets to see the Elf musical, unable to attend due to the planned south eastern train strikes.
We gave the theatre plenty of notice but was told we couldn’t have a refund. Which was fine as we were happy to change the date. When asking to change the tickets to another date. They told us they wouldn’t change them yet as the strikes might get cancelled. We said we would rather change now than take the risk and that due to our sons autism he struggles when plans are changed last min.
There was the same seats available on different dates that they wouldn’t change us to and was told to phone a week before our date. During that time all the suitable seats in our section sold out. We were told we could have seats in another section at an extra cost of 37.50 per person but due too our sons needs he can’t sit in the middle of the section he has to be on the end.
We was told we could swap our tickets to other section with an isle seat at the extra cost of £70 per person. We said we couldn’t afford to spend at extra £210 and it wasn’t our fault that the theatre wouldn’t swap our dates when the same tickets were available.
My son has been looking forward to this show for months as it’s one of his favourite Christmas film. He now thinks he’s done something wrong and that’s why we are no longer going. Really disappointed in the theatres attitude to our sons disabilities. They could have swapped the tickets when we first requested. They have kept out money knowing we can’t go and the customer service really didn’t show any empathy at all.

Just had the most terrible experience with Manager Matt and his two security guards. Popped out in the interval to grab some food. On our way back in, the security stopped us and said no food inside. We said there are lots of people who have brought food inside. One of the security guards then said no hot food, you can go back to the restaurant and ask them to hold it for you. We returned to the resturant, they said they could not hold it and to put in our bag. We did that, on returning we were searched, I said the resturant wouldnt take it, so it is in my bag, we wont eat it until afterwards. The lady security refused and told us to put it in the bin. My sister challenged and said lots of other people have hot food in there including the people sitting next to us. They did not even attempt to investigate that and the lady security asked me to hand the food over to her to put it in the bin, I did so, and she said “say please” which I found incredibly patronising. So I responded and said “why please? don’t worry i will put it in the bin myself” she then immediately radioed her manager who is apparently Matt. He stormed over (so aggressively) and just said “you can’t bring food in” I started to explain and he interrupted me, not allowing me to finish, repeating that it is “their policy” my sister then said she had previously had sweets and crisps inside, he then said “I know what food is” it was completely confrontational. He then said that he was not going to let us in “based on this conversation”. I responded “we have not raised our voices or sworn, so i don’t understand”. The security then asked us to leave. It was completely absurd! Such a complete over reaction. He was exerting his authority way more than necessary and had no concern about our experience or customer service. I asked him “are you honestly not going to let us in to see the second half of the show, that we have paid for based on this” he turned his head up and said “yes”. Our mother was inside who is disabled by the way, we suggested that he speak with her, he said “he has made his mind up”. Honestly my sister and I were so flabbergasted with the treatment. I was waaay overboard and ridiculous. What he should have done was to hear our explanation (without interrupting), explained the policy, said that there may have been a miscommunication or something, allowed us to put it in the bin, and welcomed us in. He did not resolve the problem at all, and had made his decision up quite clearly on the way to us, as he stormed over. Never have we ever been treated like this at the Theatre, as I said it was completely ridiculous and exerting his control way beyond reasonable.

My wife and I , along with our teenage daughters, had booked to see Elf the musical. Upon being shown to our seats we found they they were already taken. Probably due to a hectic Christmas schedule, we had turned up a day late and our tickets were for the previous day. Entirely our fault, however we spoke with the Booking Office and asked if they would honour our tickets for the performance, they flatly refused.
We politely argued that , as they had already had our money and that there were many empty seats, surely they could accommodate us. Despite the fact that the performance was due to start they said we would have to pay for new tickets.
At this stage I spoke to the theatre manager whom I assumed would be sympathetic, what a mistake that was, Utterly pathetic, hiding behind the usual excuse , ‘ It’s not our policy ‘ .
Apparently it’s better to leave seats empty.
My wife and eldest daughter basically refused , on principle, to pay for further tickets.
My youngest daughter was extremely disappointed as this was the final night of the Show.so I swallowed my pride and paid for two tickets, We then sat and watched the Show surrounded by rows of empty seats.
We are regular theatre patrons , also my Bar / Nightclub, ‘ Freedom ‘ in Soho is well known as a supporter and friend to West End theatre performers.
The Cast were fantastic, as to the Booking Office and the Manager, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Got this as an Xmas present so had been really looking forward, got there early and by the start the theatre was still half embty, I went at End of July, the theatre was lovely, only the show lacked any real story line, the first half was back and forth and had songs not original to the film, sandy I think was on stay about 5 times, no chemistry between her and Danny, although she had a good voice, couldn't tell what any one was saying as they spoke really fast and no dictation, they did pause for laughs but for me couldn't make out what was going on, a bit vulgar in parts with the language and innuendos, Peter Andre lightened the mood with his performance which I really enjoyed, but as they all wore pink and were all acting camp, not too sure we're that came from the actress was lost as she was in pink too. Overall not a believable performance, no chemistry at all. I left very disappointed. I believe my ticket was 99 pounds fro front row stalls so had good view, I paid 75 for same view, seating to watch wicked and that was amazing, I would advise to avoid this one,

We don’t really go to the theatre often, so seeing the performance on stage completely blew us away. Amazing theatre architecture, really really friendly staff, we had a magical evening. Completely exceeded our expectations. Location of the theatre is super convenient in the heart of central, we enjoyed early dinner before the performance, and public transport (underground station specifically) made it really easy to get to and from there. Really enjoyed it, and further encouraged me to check out more performances and plays.
That was about the theatre, the performance itself was mind blowing. Prince of Egypt is a classic, but if you haven’t seen it before I’d recommend watching the movie to help follow the lyrics but it’s not really necessary. The audience were on their feet cheering at the end and well deserved cheering too! This is the second show we watched on a journey to discover the world of theatre and so far, we’ve been nothing short of amazed !

Does "Dirty Dancing on Stage" use a live band for music, or does it use recordings? Thank you!

They had live music and singing when we were there; I want to say there were at least 4 different instruments and multiple vocalists. The music and dancing were absolutely fantastic!

If you have tall people in front of you, you may struggle to see over/through them as row C are if anything slightly lower than row A. Row A is a good distance back from the Orchestra Pit and you have a good view, unless you are short. Otherwise, you'll be fine

You can't take pictures of or during the performance, but I got great shots of the theatre and the interval. I can't post one on here. Pity, coz it's an Ace Pic. I will go back to my original posting of the Dominion Theatre and post it on there for you to see if you care to look it up?
