Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As a family, we try to do an escape room in every city we visit, now 40+. We rarely don’t escape. This room was a challenge! Poppa Plock was so fun, and we loved the puzzles. And while we loved the game itself, Wynne (Gemma), really made it for us! She stayed in character and was excellent. It really raised the experience up a notch. The atmosphere was creepy without being scary. We would love to return and do the other one.

Very enjoyable with some tricky problems to solve but all quite clever. Wynn (Gemma) played her part really well and we just made it in time. Bit more fun than some Escape Rooms as it’s not all keys, codes and padlocks. Recommended.

A group of us went on a Saturday as we'd heard good things about Poppa Ploc's escape room, which were proven right! The whole experience is well thought out, well acted, immersive, and has the right amount of dark humour. Our host Wynn (Gemma) was brilliant and never broke character - we also got tricked her into swearing through the team name 'Norfolk in Chance' and she took it in brilliant humour. We're already looking into going to do Lady Chastity's next month off the back if this!

P.S. dildo on the shadow board made it for me!

We Visited Poppa Plocks Wonky Workshop today and having done over 30 escape rooms this has got to be up there with one of the best. The room was fully immersive and our host Wynne (real name Gemma) was fantastic. She was in character from the get go and remained during our whole experience. The puzzles were fun and the room has been designed with amazing details and very funny in parts! If I could wipe my memory and do again I would in a heartbeat. Thank-you Gemma for a fantastic experience! Give this girl an Oscar and a pay rise! Would highly recommend.

We went to Poppa Blocks Wonky work shop on Friday 13th December. Our host was Tom Baker who played Wynn. He was a great host/character and really brought the experience to life!
We done a group of six and for some of us it was our first escape room, however it was really enjoyed by everyone and we made it out in 42 mins!
Deffo worth a go!

We went to the Ploppa Block's escape room on a Saturday afternoon as 6 of us and had a brilliant time! Our host was called Liam who was full of life and character and made the scenario great fun with his booming voice. The escape room was situated between a quirky theatre and The Depot bar and a short walk away from Caledonian Rd Station. The puzzles and clues came with an element of darkness which was challenging at times and we managed to escape with just 1min and 30 seconds to spare. Handmade mysteries is head and shoulders above a lot of escape rooms as the host is great and the theme was different to others we had done before.

Whilst it was a little bit difficult to work out where to be (we were directed by the theatre receptionist to one bar whose staff then said we should be in another downstairs), this is arguably one of the best ways to spend an hour or two in London.

We were greeted by Wynne (played incredibly by Gemma) at the door who took us through what we needed to know. She then took us into the dark and the game began.

The effects were spot on, the concept was completely different and the clues were nice and tricky. Four of us managed it with around 5 minutes to spare ... But please bear in mind one of those four has done a lot of Escape Rooms and another has built one!

All in all, it was fun, creepy, had twists, turns and red herrings with a light-hearted backing.

Couldn't have asked for a better host and will most definitely be looking to book the Lady Chastity counterpart - thanks so much!

Wynne is a fantastic actress - really took the experience to a new level. The escape room itself was a great combination of mind and practical puzzles, and really makes sure you work as a team. The story is so different to any other escape room I've been to before - and by far the best!! Would highly recommend to anyone. Can be achieved in a smaller or larger group. The room is intentionally fairly dark and you will rely on torches to read some of clues - really adds to the atmosphere!
Downsides - (Wynne aside as she was faultless) the staff at The Depot Pub have an attitude problem. We got a bit lost on arrival and were snapped at by staff. After the experience we sat down in the pub for a drink to celebrate escaping, one member of staff dropped a sauce pot which splattered blue cheese dip all over my friend. We were very calm and understand that these things happen. We asked the individual to fetch some napkins or something to clean her tshirt, shoes and jeans with however he did not reappear therefore we had to make do with some serviettes from another table. We managed to clean the clothes but a bit more support and remorse would have gone a long way.
Last bit of feedback (and an ask, really) is that we could have a copy of both of the photos that were taken after the experience as we were only sent 1 (Gill and Her Ladies)
I would love to give the experience a 5 star as the escape room was outstanding, it was unfortunately the pub itself that let it down
Aside from this, I'd like to extend my thanks to the team that put together the escape room. Absolutely brilliant.

I've done 135 escape rooms worldwide, and so I can say with confidence that this is one of the really good ones! It's unusual in that it features an actor prominently, and our actor was FANTASTIC. He totally made the room. The puzzles and set design were on points as well. I did this in a group of 2 and we escaped just fine, though we both have a lot of escape room experience. I think this room would be great for 2 enthusiasts or 3 to 4 people with a little less experience. I wouldn't recommend it for more than 4 people due to the mostly linear design.

My first escape room and I loved it. All practical puzzles. The actor made it very atmospheric and judged the clues perfectly. It felt like an achievement to solve each puzzle. Some great surprises. Would certainly return for another room.
