I'm really glad I booked with Richard's Tours and certainly wasn't dissapointed! I had other things on in the morning so with short notice, Richard responded to agree a meet in the afternoon and he was bang on time. He was presentable, amiable and down to earth. It was immediately obvious that he was very keen to share his well researched knowledge, which was reassuring given that having paid for a private tour, I was getting a lot more than an off the shelf group tour (from what others have described to me). Born a Londoner and more than familiar with the area, he regularly checked that the tour pace was comfortable to ensure I was happy with the 3 hour route. He was very helpful with fotos and encouraged questions and discussions on this still mysterious subject, which is pretty clear that he's personally interested in, so much so that in the short time, not only did I acquire a lot of knowledge, but he's actually perked my own interest in Jack The Ripper! Although some parts of the area are still dodgy, I felt completely at ease being with Richard, who increasingly came across as more of a friendly local rather than a tour guide, and despite the atrocious weather, the 3 hours passed well beyond my expectations given his abilities - so excellent value for money. In conclusion, I should add that I'm also from London, but Richard's Tours aren't just for tourists, so if you're short on time and want a knowledgeable host, then Richard Chambers is your man. I, for one, will be checking out his other tours!…

My sister, good friend, and I took Richard’s Jane Austen tour on a Thursday and his Stonehenge/Bath tour the next day. We had such a wonderful time that we asked if he was available on Monday, our last day in England. He had a tour booked but, amazingly for us, that tour was cancelled. My sister wanted to visit Chartwell and although I did, too, I also wanted Hampton Court Palace. We asked Richard if we could possibly have both in one day and he very obligingly agreed to a custom tour to satisfy us both. I’d be hard-pressed to say which location we enjoyed more but the three of us are agreed on the fact that Richard is a terrific tour guide. Every detail was carefully planned in advance so there was no rushing from one place to the next. Richard is a careful, safe driver and his car was immaculate. The breadth of his knowledge is incredible. We spent three days with him on entirely different tours yet he was always able to answer all our questions. In fact, I contacted Richard a month later with a question about identifying something I’d taken a photo of but couldn’t recall what it was. He responded promptly and knew exactly what I was referring to. It would behoove anyone planning a small group visit to one of the locations Richard’s Tours offers to choose him. We cannot speak highly enough of him. Should he ever visit our neck of the woods we would be happy to introduce him to our families and then take him on a guided tour!…

My sister, our good friend, and myself (all slightly older than middle-aged women) had booked a Jane Austen tour with Richard on a Thursday. Luckily the tour was highly successful because we had also reserved the Stonehenge/Bath tour with him for the very next day. By the time he dropped us off at our hotel the first evening we already felt like Richard was family. When he picked us up Friday morning we visited in his (very clean) car like old friends (he is also a good driver). We arrived at Stonehenge just at opening time and this allowed us ample time to go through the interpretive center before going to the actual site. Being so early meant we practically had the place to ourselves and Richard obligingly took many photos of us. As we drove to Bath, Richard entertained us with interesting historical facts. Once in Bath he proved to be quite knowledgeable and, knowing we were interested in Jane Austen, was able to point out sites where she had lived. He walked us through Bath and we had lunch at Sally Lunn’s before visiting the Roman Baths. Again, he was very informative yet was always considerate of other visitors by keeping his voice down and not blocking the flow of traffic. We never, at any time, felt pressured to hurry and were able to take all the time we needed. I had been to Stonehenge and Bath once before on a large group bus tour. After spending three days (yes, we booked a third tour but that’s another review) with Richard, we are spoiled. I cannot imagine ever taking another bus tour again. Richard is simply the best.…

Best tour ever! We knew that we wanted our visit to London to include lots of Jane Austen but we also didn’t want to rent a car ourselves. We hit the jackpot when we booked a trip with Richard. He drives his own (very clean) car which allowed for pleasant conversation between the four of us on our way to the different locations. He is a very good driver and we never felt uneasy at any time. Richard is quite knowledgeable and he shared interesting tidbits well beyond the usual canned spewing of information one usually gets on a tour. We never felt rushed at any time so were able to enjoy the sights at our leisure including checking out gift shops! Richard also offered to take pictures of us whenever we liked. It’s so nice to get photos with all of us in them. It’s obvious that he is passionate about what he does and it’s not just a job to him. We spent three days with Richard and I highly recommend Richard’s Tours.…

Review of: Private Windsor Castle And Eton Tour
Richard was very flexible and customized our visit to the things we were most interested in seeing and doing while at Windsor Castle. He was a wealth of knowledge and would tell us as much or as little about each topic of conversation.
