At Wine Cottage we are truly passionate about wine education and we share our love of wine through luxury wine tasting events which takes place every Saturday at our lovely venue in Westminster in the heart of London. We curate a selection of exquisite wines from around the world, each paired with artisan cheeses, chocolate, and truffles. Our world-renowned wine connoisseur, Kam Zadeh, will guide you through each wine and teach you how to pair them with complementary foods. Some friends of ours recommended the online wine-tasting with Wine Cottage. It seemed like as good an activity as any to structure our lock-down drinking with!
We did the Champagne, Premium Wine and VIntage package which was reduced to £142 from £285. We came to the idea a bit late and were worried the 6 bottles wouldn't get to us in time, but their office sent everything over and it arrived with us within 48 hours. Couldn't fault their customer service, price or logistics.
As for the tasting itself, Kam was really approachable, knowledgable and was more than happy to answer any of our questions. As complete novices, it was great that he was able to explain everything in detail but in terms that we'd understand!
I'd absolutely recommend this to anyone, just don't try and drink a bottle for each round of tasting as we did, definitely a few sore heads in the morning!

My son arranged for the two of us to go for a Wine Cottage tasting session in October of last year. This included cheese as well as wine, along with some insight into various wine varieties, how to taste them, what to expect, along with food-pairing ideas. The session was well managed and highly informative. The wine samples were plentiful and the cheese plates were fresh and interesting.
All-in-all,this was a thoroughly enjoyable event. The host was evidently experienced and had an engaging, humorous delivery. My son and I learned a lot and would recommend this event to others who may wish to develop their wine knowledge to the next level. The opportunity to buy some of the wines we had tased was appreciated by the majority of those present.

My partner and I attended the wine tasting on Saturday 8th February. This is an outstanding wine lecture carried out by Kam. His passion for wine is obvious and makes the session really interesting and fun. We tried some outstanding wines, the Champagne and Chablis were my favourites but then again I have always loved those wines. We learnt so much about different qualities in wine, we didn’t know even existed. In particular, the science of food and wine pairing was very interesting and this is something we will try to take into account when we choose a wine in the future. I definitely fully recommend this experience to anyone who loves wine and wants to learn more about it. The quality of wines, cheese and the instructor’s passion for wine is what makes this experience outstanding.

The tasting itself was enjoyable; high quality wines and an expert talk. The servings however (of both the wines and the cheeses) were meagre at best, and do not reflect the photos on the website at all. Despite an enjoyable evening, the customer care after the experience left little to be desired. I purchased a bottle of Kopke 2000 vintage port for £65 at the end of the tasting. It was on offer, down from £80, with a 20% discount. Wine Cottage says quite explicitly that their wines are exclusive to the UK and that you can't buy anything you try on the tasting elsewhere, online or in store. Plus they have a 'best price' guarantee. But this isn't the case. My friend, who attended the wine tasting with me, bought a bottle of sherry for £25 - only to see the exact same sherry in Waitrose the following week for £6. Dismayed, I searched online for the Kopke 2000 vintage port and saw it was being sold for much cheaper than £65. It took two days to confirm my refund after much to-and-fro. I had to confirm with Cottage Wine that the cheaper port I had found on another website was available, only to find that everything in stock (24 bottles) had been purchased. A bit of a coincidence...

The actual experience was enjoyable (although held in a conference room which seemed weird). Worth noting that the portions of wine and cheese in the pictures here are not what you'll receive - much much smaller in actuality.
The main reason I would never recommend this experience is that Wine Cottage claim the products you can buy are exclusive to them - two members of my group purchased sherry and port and we found the bottles purchased in Waitrose AND for less than half the price. So the exclusivity was a lie and the 'offer' was a complete rip off. Customer services were extremely unhelpful and unapologetic when this was raised, refunding the difference eventually but after many emails (and still no apology).

We visited Wine Cottage for a Saturday evening tasting in January 2020 which was a gift from our son.
The tasting was enjoyable and interesting and the presenter Kam Zadeh was engaging. The quality of the wines for the price of the tasting was variable, some poor (Parfums de Vigne Pinot Noir 2017), some average (Cuvee Tradition Cahors Malbec 2016) and some good (Luigi Righetti Recioto della Valpolicella Classico 2018). Unfortunately our enjoyment of the tasting was limited by the unhelpful and rude attitude of the woman who was responsible for pouring the wine who does not appear to be suitable for a role in the hospitality industry. We have attended many wine tastings around the world and never encountered someone so rude. She was more interested in spending time on her laptop than serving her clients. Unfortunately our overriding impression is that we would not recommend a Wine Cottage tasting or buy one as a gift for a friend or family member.

The mentioned staff member is a temporary employee hired through a hiring agency which provides us with temporary staffing solutions on ad hoc basis. My husband and I were lucky enough to have two separate wine tastings with Kam and we loved both! He is extremely knowledgeable and makes you feel very at ease to ask any questions you like. Both sessions were full of delicious wine and food pairings. The wine servings were pretty generous, so you are extremely merry after tasting 7 wines! I also loved that both tastings ended with a delicious dessert wine served in a dark chocolate cup - a perfect way to end the experience.
We had a great time celebrating our anniversary at the second event and, to top it off, were given the large part of a bottle of Kam's award winning 2020 sparkling at the end of the evening. We also bought a bottle of this vintage sparkling to open on our anniversary in 10 years time and will remember this evening very fondly!

A wine tasting evening with Kam who is totally passionate about wine.
He explanation of wine tasting was simple and easy to relate to what we were drinking. The pairings with the food, a small snack was spot on.
One thing I would say was he started by saying "over the next couple of hours or so, we will lots of wine" . In reality, the event lasted pproximately 90 mins, and it was not lots ! But more than a sip.
All in all some wonderful wines and a great atmosphere.

He normally gives his last talk 90 minutes into the experience so the guests can enjoy the rest of their wines and each other's company as he goes from table to table to speak to our guests individually. At no point you or anyone was or will ever be asked to leave early. Some guests may choose to leave straight after his last talk, however that is entirely up to them.

We would really recommend Wine Cottage wine & cheese tasting - Kam was such a charismatic, knowledgeable and engaging speaker who struck the perfect balance between an informative but fun session. Enjoyed all the wines we had (with some personal favourites!), great cheese pairings and lovely dark chocolate nibbles to end. Had a wonderful evening and would love to do a similar experience in the future!

We had the pleasure of experiencing the wine tasting at the oval, as opposed to their normal premises north of the river. We also booked the tequila tasting experience which was also well hosted and informative. Kam, who hosted our wine tasting experience, was entertaining, engaging and overall made the experience. We weren't just tasting wines, we were understanding them. Highly recommended and I can't wait to return with more friends and family
