Neighbourhood: Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.

- Jeana P763 contributionsWell done!We thoroughly enjoyed this play. The actors were very talented although some could have projected better and annunciated more clearly as they were occasionally hard to hear and/or understand. We were not far from the stage. It had been decades since I saw the movie of the same name so the twist at the end was a surprise. The change in the actor was portrayed brilliantly. The entire cast was excellent - well done!Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 March 2024
- Amy B4 contributionsSuspense in a Spectacular SettingPurchased a ticket at the last minute and absolutely glad I did. I sat in the “nosebleed” seats but didn’t miss a word. Acting was top notch and the set design was fantastic. Due to the venue space you felt like a real attendee at a trial. If you’re a theatre nerd, purchase the program so you can read about everyone involved.Visited March 2024Travelled soloWritten 28 March 2024
- Hannah BDerbyshire, United Kingdom74 contributionsWow!! FANTASTICWow!!! What a fantastic show! We didn’t really know what to expect on booking this play but it is by far the best play I’ve ever seen. The county hall venue is beautiful and a lovely setting, much different to a regular theatre. We were in seats c74 and c75 which were fantastic seats and don’t think we could have had better seats. Any lower the third row back and you would have been looking up at the stage whereas we were level with the actors. I’m not sure the Jury seats would have been worth the money as not a great view of the judge and the witness box. Highly recommended show!!!Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 March 2024
- jaguar58Bridgend, United Kingdom315 contributionsAll rise and take a bow for a great show.Criminally outstanding! Witness for the Prosecution is one of the best productions I have seen in a long time. Every one of the actors was so professional and worked so hard to entertain.Probably not to everyone’s taste but I’d definitely go again. Loved it ! Big thanks to all involvedVisited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 29 March 2024
- CherrywhirlWorcestershire, United Kingdom16 contributionsOutstanding!I watched the evening performance with my daughter on Saturday 30th March. We sat in row E, seats 128 and 129 and we had a great view. First of all, the ‘theatre’ is perfect; it’s atmospheric and lends itself to the movement of cast members around the set. The actors themselves are truly outstanding. It was unbelievable to think that they’d already performed in a matinée earlier in the day. They were convincing, with excellent timing. It is clearly a polished production and we liked how the sets were changed in a synchronised manner. Like all London theatre, tickets are not cheap, but they are worth it. My daughter didn’t know anything about the plot beforehand and said it was the best thing she’d ever seen. I have previously watched the Marlene Dietrich film, so was familiar with the story and intrigued as to how it would be presented as a live version. It’s very impressive and I’ll be suggesting my husband and son go and watch, so I can see it again! Well done to everyone involved. Your standing ovation was well deserved. I highly recommend this production. My only constructive criticism is that there isn’t much seating in the bar area and there aren’t really sufficient ladies’ toilets for the interval dash!Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 31 March 2024
- Solange RMontreal, Canada18 contributionsWitness for the prosecution - London, UKWhat a show! It was the first time I had been in a court room to watch a show. Splendidly done! Unbelievably real! I would never have guessed the ending! Grab a seat in the front and you might end up being part of the Jury! Bravo! Great acting! - Denise S2 contributionsJust brilliantThis was a brilliant play in a wonderful setting with a real twist at the end. Can’t recommend enough. The staff at the venue couldn’t have done more to accommodate me and my 90 year old aunty, without me even asking. You saw what we needed and just swooped in and helped. Thank you so so muchVisited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 13 April 2024
- Melanie HSt. Albans, United Kingdom110 contributionsAbsolutely amazingAn absolutely fantastic performance, and a must see for everyone. It was my first time seeing a play, and wow I was totally enthralled by the story, the actors, the venue and all the staff. It was amazing. - Selman A1 contributionAmazing PlayAn absolutely spellbinding performance—this is a must-see for everyone. Experiencing my second-ever play, I was utterly captivated by the gripping story, the stellar actors, the enchanting venue, and the attentive staff. It was a night to remember. I surprised my wife for her birthday, and our seats next to the jury in Row F (155 and 156) were perfect. The immersive experience made me feel like I was inside the movie. Highly recommended!Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 May 2024

Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Fabulous setting and the cast excellent. We felt drawn in from opening scene and this continued until the end. We will certainly recommend this to family and friends and we congratulate all involved from the directors, actors and team front of house looking after us this afternoon. Can’t thank you enough for a great time.

I booked this play as an anniversary day out for my wife and myself and we were not disappointed.
I booked the Jury Seats not realising at the time that we would actually be members of the jury and be sworn in and given a jury book to take notes.
The play is the old County Hall which is a beautiful building and makes a wonderful venue for a courtroom.
The Play is the best play I have ever seen, very well acted throughout and with Agatha Christie's expertise at twists and turns you will be sitting on the edge of your seat throughout this courtroom drama
I have no hesitation in recommending this play even if you have read the book as it brings the story to life in the most dramatic way.
A bar is available for pre performance and interval drinks and there is a cafe next door where we had lunch before the performance

Went to see the matinee of Witness for the Prosecution at London County Hall yesterday 16th Jan 2020. I had bought the tickets for my husband's Christmas present. We like to go to the theatre when we can but normally for a musical show, rarely to see a play. What an amazing experience it was. County Hall is an iconic historical building and the main council chamber in which the play was set was absolutely perfect! The whole set up was brilliant, the actors were outstanding and my husband declared it to be the best thing he's seen. As it was a Christmas present I'd splashed out on VIP Juror tickets, the jury actually become part of the play and the icing on the cake was that as Juror No. 1 my husband had to read the verdict! The whole experience from start to finish was marvellous and I can't recommend it highly enough!

This is a fantastic production which makes to most of the Venue, we really enjoyed our evening and recommend highly.
Whilst the best seats are undoubtedly in the jury or courtroom stalls you can still have a fun time in the front rows of the gallery if you are on a budget or book "last minute" like ourselves. We sat in the South Gallery, Row A 6 and 7 . Although access was through a narrow gap and we had to lean forward, we enjoyed the show and felt these seats offered reasonable value. A group with older children sat behind us and loved it, so recommended for families!

Another great success for Agatha Christie, especially for the current cast of Witness for the Prosecution and of course for the County Hall venue in London. Various family and friends who had seen it previously had said it was good but 'kept the secret' as will I here. Very entertaining and absorbing from start to finish. Prop management between scenes was also well choreographed and synchronised. Finding our seats in the upper tier was a little awkward, there are number tags but they are hard to see and read but viewing of the play, once sat down, was pretty good.
Spoil yourself, go and see it, you know you want to!!

This is an excellent adaptation of Agitha Christie's Witness For The Prosecution, keeps you on the edge of your seat right up to the end of closing scene. The location of the theatre is in the former GLC County Hall building, near the London Eye and Houses of Parliment, that only add to the atmosphere. The performance is in the actual council chamber, the benches and chairman's dais used to great effect for the audience and actors.
The building is accessible using a staff controlled external lift to bypass the front steps into the building via the café. You are then escorted to a second lift up one level to the theatre chamber and your seat. The wheelchair space is directly by the door into the chamber and the space allowance is generous even for a large wheelchair, a carer seat is next to the wheelchair slot.
There is a disabled toilet on the entrance level, this is a modern adaptation so conforms to part M building regulations, but could have been bigger or a changing places toilet.

I took my wife to see this as a surprise, having convinced her that we going to see Harry Potter ( which she remained politely “pleased” about😃) as it’s one of her favourite movies.
The venue, the London County Hall, is a magnificent and inspired place to have hosted this as, once the play is underway, you become completely immersed in the spectacle, as though you were in the courtroom. Indeed, pay a little extra then I did and you can a actually take part as a member of the Jury!
The acting was superb, the setting sublime and the pace and storyline gripping. The wonderfully choreographed scene changes, where the courtroom suddenly becomes the barrister’s chambers, were an entertainment in themselves.
I, of course, saw the twist coming a mile off.....probably helped by having seen the movie a dozen times. However, I think newbies to the play will be kept guessing to the very end, it was so expertly carried off.
Excellent!

I visited on Saturday for the afternoon performance. My daughter had seen it advertised and thought it would be a change from the usual theater location.
The old county hall building is quite something, they certainly knew how to spend the taxpayers money in those days. Marble by the acre, bronze doors and mahogany as far as the eye can see.
We had seats in the central gallery, your first view of the council chamber/ courtroom/ stage really takes your breath away.
The play keeps you fully engaged and just when you thought you had seen the last actions a twist in the final few moments turns things upside-down.
I would certainly recommend a viewing.
My only negative, The seating in the gallery (i cant speak for any other seating area ) is more like old church pews. They are upholstered but bolt upright and with quite narrow seats. I have a bit of a grumpy back and by the end i really was feeling it.

I booked this as a belated birthday/ Christmas present for my husband and paid the extra for us to sit in the Jury seats.
The setting is absolutely perfect and I could not now go and see this play on a normal stage.
We had 2 drinks an drink programmes included. We were sworn in and actually had the lights on us the whole time so we were really involved; so much so that a member of the audience thought we were all actors!
We were asked to deliver our verdict; however, regardless of our decision, the play is the play!
Truly an immersive experience.

Hi, are the lights on the jury throughout the performance? Asking for a friend!
Written 19 October 2023
Just sometimes. But they were bright!
I frankly didn't think the jury received enough extra involvement or action to be worthy of paying a whole lot more. We sat on the end of a row where one of the cast was seated (assistant prosecutor). The lead prosecutor would come over to interact with him in low-level conversation and we got to overhear. That was pretty cool.

We have booked Courtroom Stalls seats A15 & A16. My issue is that I’ve recently had a left sided total knee replacement, & can’t bend my leg fully. Will I struggle to sit in these seats? What’s the legroom like? We deliberately booked end of aisle seats, in the hope that if my left leg won’t fit in the row, I might be able to put it slightly in the aisle. Just seen in a few reviews that legs in the aisle is clamped down on. Anyone sat here? Got any opinions/advice?

Give them a ring and explain your situation, they r so nice. There are lots of stairs though once inside.
We sat in the jury. See if they can upgrade u for free as they do that when there isn’t enough people on the jury. Those seats have plenty of room but still ask for an end one

If your Vertigo is very bad, then you'd be very safe in rows A, B, C, D, or E. They are in the bowl of the Court Arena.
Anywhere in there gives an amazing view as its so compact.
I am going next on 8 Jan. My 4th drive to London from Liverpool and back in a Day! It's THAT Good! Enjoy everyone.
