Neighbourhood: Shoreditch
The western front of the edgy East End, Shoreditch is a perennially trendy haven for anything “street” – be it art, food, or fashion. With its handful of well connected transportation links dotting its perimeter, along with an ever increasing variety of shops, hotels, bars, and restaurants, it's easy to explore this trend-conscious and youth-oriented neighbourhood. There's a lingering post-industrial grit about Shoreditch, but because it shares a border with “The City” financial district, the influence from its upscale neighbour can result in fascinating outcomes.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I contacted the city comedy club for around two weeks to try and get a booking as I had a voucher for this. This couldn’t be booked through their website. Called, emailed, via Instagram and Facebook and didn’t receive a response until the day before I asked to go. Finally received a response to state that I could book for the date intended. Spent £50 on train tickets to get to London for the show, turned up to be told by the bar it is held in “it is cancelled”. I’m unsure why there was no email to let us know that this was cancelled as it would have saved us lots of time and money rather than making our way all the way there. I will not be trying to go again, poorly organised and poor communication. We will be swapping our voucher for another experience due to this.

Before you read on, please note this is no criticism towards the standup comedians but instead a bad experience with the comedy club owner.
Long story short, having entered the club, the seating isn’t particularly comfortable albeit there are a mixture of plastic foldable chairs and cushioned seats. Bearing in mind there are no allocated seats, you can decide to sit where you want granted there’s space. We came in as a group of 9 and the seats we sat were plastic foldable chairs. I decided to switch my plastic foldable chair with a EMPTY cushioned chair which no one was sitting on. I switched the chairs for my comfort and making sure it would be an empty seat -which is fair I think. Mr David (the bald head owner of the gaffe)- you know exactly who this is. Let’s ask the audience, How does a man show he’s got a big ****? ooo let’s “try” to embarrass the customer in front his colleagues. He comes over and tells me how I shouldn’t have switched the chairs (which is fair) but the tone he had when questioning wasn’t in not a polite manner but in rude tone making sure he was trying to embarrass the customer, pathetic being. he goes on advising me that because it’s his business, he decides what should and shouldn’t happen, cool well if it’s your business and I’m your customer, you accommodate accordingly or you advise sensibly. As far as I’m concerned if this man cared, key word , CARED one ounce about his business he would’ve had made sure all seating were the same. Unfortunately David hadn’t.
He the great needs to re-align himself mentally, poor soul I hope he finds himself. My prayer to David, remember where the sun don’t sunshine 🌞

My husband and I randomly decided to go here for our Friday night on holiday. We had so much fun. Tickets were cheap & we had a great laugh.

Been to many comedy nights but they all seem to have the same kind of acts. Me and my wife are both very impressed that city comedy club shows a so many different kind of acts that brings a breath of fresh of air to stand up!

Went down there with one of my mates and I highly recommend it. The comics were great, we got to see Bobby Mair and the drinks were cheap for London!

The Comedy club for the all rounder. This place offers everything. The atmosphere almost feels as if everyone has come out for a night together. The Comedians seen were varied in experience. Which only added to the atmosphere and I was crying with laughter. If you add the delicious fish and chips and local ale. This place really offers everything. A true hidden Gem and as someone who is an avid comedy fan, I can genuinely say this is definitely one of the best comedy clubs in London.

Went to city comedy club recently after work and it was a quality night! The acts were really funny and the people who run it are really friendly. Pub has a great selection of beers too so would definitely recommend for a fun post-work night!
