Neighbourhood: City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A wonderful opportunity to see inside this stunning building, the staff on hand were very helpful in explaining some of the history of the building.
The outside of the building has a lot of decorative stonework but nothing can prepare you for the inside! A contrast to the modern Lloyds building that it is paired with, the history here is immense and the opportunity to see some of the old documents was fascinating. Well worth a visit when it is open to the public.

Went looking about information about my dad's drowning .
Anne was really helpful and pulled out all the stops to aid me. Plus looked further afield to find anything at all relating to it.
Great organisation . Thank you Anne xxx

We visit Lloyd’s Register each year with the students of the Master of Science in Maritime Science at the Law Faculty of the University of Ghent.
The trip to London is an integral part of their course and includes visits to various maritime institutions and organisations. Lloyd’s Register stands high on that list, if only because being welcomed in the historical setting of their building adds an extra dimension to our visit.
Classification societies play a vital role in the shipping business. Our students would be missing a vital piece of information if we left this out of the picture. That is where Lloyd’s Register steps in. The presentations we are given by their people give us the touch and feel of what a modern classification society is all about and what the issues are in their field of activity. They always do a perfect job at bringing our group at the core of the classification business in all its diversity.

Every year we make a trip with professionals from the port logistic sector to London to know the most relevant institutions related to the maritime world and without a doubt Lloyd's Register is an organization that is worth visiting.
