About
We're the Official Guides to the City of London. Our full title is the City of London Guide Lecturers Association, as some of our members give walks in the City and lecture on City-related topics. We were founded in 1983 to promote and maintain a high standard of guiding in, and lecturing about, the City of London. As well as giving walks and tours, many of our members offer lecture titles connected to the City. We offer a weekly programme of guided walks on all aspects of the City, as special events such as London Open House and the Lord Mayor's Show. And many of our guides offer tailor-made tours. Look out for special events and themed tours - there's always something going on!

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a wonderful time learning about such pioneering women, so many that deserved recognition! Our guide Jenny was thoroughly engaging whilst also taking us to some hidden gems right in the heart of the city! Will definitely book with Jenny again as she really painted a picture of these ‘invisible women’ and left me feeling truly inspired…Would highly recommend!

We did the London fires tour, learning all about the history of fires and firefighting in London since the Romans. Its a fascinating angle on London's history, which is about so much more than just the Great Fire of 1666. Pete Zymanczyk was a fantastic tour guide. He has a wealth of knowledge about London history and understanding of fires & firefighting and is a great storyteller.

I recently enjoyed a fantastic tour of the City with Jenny Funnell. Starting in Blackfriars, Jenny guided us through a history of the City from the Roman period through to the present day. Along the way we were told the most fascinating and at times very moving stories of some of the LGBTQIA+ people that have lived here. Finishing up in St Bartholomew’s Hospital after around 2 hours, I felt as though I had time to take everything in whilst not being bombarded with information.

Jenny has put together a very engaging and thoughtful tour structured around a dozen or so stories. They cleverly weave together the social, political, religious, royal and artistic history of London with the story of the LGBTQIA+ community that leaves you itching to learn more.

This compelling walking tour is an absolute hit and should not be missed whether you’ve been a Londoner your whole life or here for a few days.

Our financial guide, Jenny Funnell, was exceptional. She spoke with such clarity and enthusiasm that she captured my full attention from the very start. Her English was easy to understand, and she was incredibly kind and friendly, radiating positive energy throughout the tour. Her engaging stories and infectious energy recharged me, making the tour not only educational but also highly enjoyable.

I had some work colleagues visiting from the U.S. and whilst they have been to London before and my team is based in the City, none of us knew much about its history. Richard Conacher took us on a walking tour covering St Paul's Cathedral to Leadenhall Market and everything in between. It was late afternoon and there were lots of people about and yet he managed to expertly navigate us around the key historical sites whilst somehow avoiding the congestion. Richard was extremely knowledgeable and made the tour interesting, informative, and terrific fun. I have worked in the City for almost 30 years and most of the information and locations we visited were new to me. I can highly recommend this tour, it was superb.

Jenny’s City tour of ‘Prejudice to Pride’ was absolutely wonderful. It was powerful and deeply moving. Her presentation during our walk was highly-detailed, passionate, full of a deeply-felt conviction of this history, and the profound injustices, from ancient times to modern. She engaged us with such energy and also (sometimes dark) humour. Great value. Highly recommended.

Joined London’s LGBTQI history tour with work mates and we all loved it.
Jenny, our guide was an amazing story teller. She was super knowledgable, and you could tell how very much she cares about the topic.
Totally recommended. Wouldn’t mind to do it again with some friends

A very early start for a (6.30am) City of London Guides guided tour of Smithfield Market, but well worth it. Matt Ware was brilliant - so knowledgeable and a great guide. Great overview of the history of the wider Smithfield area and specifically the Market. These are monthly tours that fill up quickly - I was delighted to get a cancellation. Look forward to exploring the area further, and hopefully with Matt as my guide!

Thoroughly enjoyed a brilliant tour of the Old Bailey with Nikki (and ably assisted by Jay). We got to go behind the scenes to see the cells and the Judges’ dining room as well as two of the courts and the main areas. Nikki was an excellent guide who explained everything very clearly and gave lots of interesting facts and anecdotes. I would highly recommend this tour.
