Went for the Boozy Afternoon Tea with unlimited Prosecco and a table quiz together with some friends. We all found it a nice way to spend the afternoon with a bit of fun to enter the venue via the optician and the nicely decorated venue.
The afternoon tea was ok, 2 options of tea, Earl Grey or English Breakfast Tea, it was a good selection of savory and sweet options as well as 1 scone with clotted cream and jam.
We struggled a bit to get the Prosecco going, every time we wanted to have a top up, we needed to get up and go to the bar and ask somebody to come and serve us. Did not feel unlimited, more like they were trying to serve a little as possible to save money.
The venue is nice but very cold so that was a bit of a negative. The table quiz was fun but there was no need to work together to solve it and it would have been even better if we somehow needed to work as a team.
I would happily come back again

We booked for the coffee morning for my birthday. It’s sold as a puzzle experience but it was not a puzzle or an experience. So underwhelming I’m sad they didn’t bother putting in a bit more effort. I assume this is just an afterthought of the escape room.
Three janky puzzle machines tucked away in a bar that are so obviously old rejects from the escape room. We sat wondering if we were meant to do anything and the staff didn’t seem to know what we were talking about. I can’t stress enough how little story or effort goes into this.
How did they get the licence!? We completed the discarded machines in seconds, (all of which are barely working) which open latches that have nothing inside- and when we asked the staff they just shrugged and asked us if we’d timed ourselves. Lol. The sandwiches were all right though so 🤷♀️ 30 quid each to sit in a pants bar and have some cake! 💀

Our family of four was excited to revisit the thrill of an escape room adventure, having fond memories from our previous visit five years ago. However, our recent experience with the new Mind of Moriarty left us feeling quite disappointed.
While the first room held some promise, the subsequent rooms failed to live up to expectations. We felt like we were being hurried along, especially as one of the last groups of the day with the bar already closed. Instead of offering helpful hints when we struggled with a puzzle, the staff simply rushed us through to the next room.
Despite managing to escape in time, it didn't feel like a true victory since we left behind unsolved puzzles. When we asked for feedback, the response we received was unhelpful, leaving us feeling frustrated and unsatisfied.
Considering the hefty price tag of £47.25 per person, including fees and taxes, we expected a more engaging and enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, the Moriarty Experience fell short of delivering the excitement and challenge we had hoped for, leaving us questioning whether it was worth the cost for our family outing.

Hello Zsofia,
Thank you for your feedback - and whilst we're happy to hear you enjoyed our original escape experience, we're sorry to hear you felt disappointed by your last visit to us.
Whilst all players are given an hour to complete the room, we do try and help with clues along the way if needed. Players are monitored throughout the game to see where and when some guidance may be needed to solve puzzles. The level and frequency of clues depend on our monitor's assessment of the level of help needed by the playing team, so we do apologise if you felt that the level of help given wasn't appropriate for you, and you felt rushed - this would never be our intention.
Our tickets can be more expensive than your standard escape room as we are an immersive experience, with pricing in line with this.
Thank you again for your thoughts - we take all feedback very seriously, and look to improve our processes where needed,
Team Sherlock

This was an OK experience. It wasn’t as good as the crystal maze in my experience. I think the staff make an experience like this. We had to wait outside for 30 minutes. There was a person setting up the room but didn’t even acknowledge us. Some may say it’s part of the experience. I just thought it was rude.

Thank you for your feedback, we're very sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your experience with us. Initially you are asked to read an opticians test card. The games and puzzles are good and the mind palace bar is exceptionally good. But upon reading this test card both of us told the girl we couldn't read all of it. She ignored this and sent us through. Then we saw that finding the clues involved reading small print in a darkened room. So we struggled as we couldn't read the clues. A heads up in advance or when we said we couldn't read the chart would have been extremely helpful as then I would have brought my glasses into the experience! As it was we could barely read any of the clues

Absolutely great fun, a good range of puzzles and something to keep everyone entertained. Went for a private group of 4 players and enjoyed every second of it. Props and sets are very clever and well put together, and the experience feels well thought out. Doyle's opticians is also very amusing and confused some of our group! Very much reccomded.

Really enjoyed it. It's an hour long but with all the preamble etc extends to about 100 mins as it says on the tin.
We didn't get out. Needed a few more mins but have to say there was a lot of stuff to get through. Can't obs say too much but u will recognise most of the decor and there are loads of links to the characters u know and love.
The mind palace was a bit sparse on drinks and I couldn't quite understand the games dotted around the room. However it does look good and if a drink after keeps the price down then 👍.
Had no idea of time during the game which might have helped and also there is no holding area which means u have to wait in a less than celubroous shopping centre until they are ready. I know the front is all about setting up the game but if people waiting could sit somewhere that would be much better. Perhaps use the Mind Palace for both those arriving and those leaving.
Staff on site were great.
I managed to pass an eye test, failed to join a top secret agency and enjoyed a gin and tonic to drown my sorrows. What a way to spend a sunday.

Stamford will be pleased to hear you survived your mission, Agent! Thank you so much for helping to save the world and for your kind words about Sherlock: The Game Is Now, both are very much appreciated. We do actually have plans in place to make new arrivals at Doyle's Opticians more comfortable, so thank you for your feedback.

Firstly difficult to find entrance, then asked if I'd eye appointment, said they knew nothing about Sherlock Holmes, then made to wait in a bar for 15 minutes, so they can upsell drink. Not my thing. Not my humour at all. Might work if every member of the party were warned this was part of it. I just felt upset , insulted and cheated. Paid £120, to be expected to pay more on arrival. I left very annoyed.

Hi there,
Thanks for your feedback.
Sherlock: The Official Live Game is an immersive experience, which starts with finding our hidden entrance, which is disguised as an optician, and using the secret code to enter. This is explained in the booking confirmation email, along with a map link with where to find us.
Once in the venue, our customers take a trip to our Sherlock-themed speakeasy, where they can grab a drink and relax before starting the game. This built-in time allows us to register any teams who may have not done this before prior to their arrival, as well as try to accommodate anyone guests who may be running late. It also gives our customers the opportunity to use the facilities, warm up with one of our mini-escape games or grab a refreshment if they choose to do so – this of course isn’t required.
We’re sorry the experience wasn’t to your taste and wish you well.
Team Sherlock

I booked the outdoor game for our work team day and everyone had a great time. Agent 221b was really helpful throughout the process and helped organise what we needed for the day. We hired the Mind Palace for our team meeting which is a very cool bar area, the buffet lunch was delicious and all the team on the day made sure everything run smoothly.
The outdoor game uses an app which provides locations you need to go to and you need to solve clues along the way. It takes you through some lovely areas of London I did not know even existed. The game was great fun and was good to get everyone working in their teams and by some miracle we all managed to complete it! Our host for the game "Stamford" was on hand to help with any problems.
I would highly recommend for any team building events or as a group of friends.
Thank again to the team!

We celebrated my 11 years old daughter’s birthday with 10 of her friends at Sherlock. They had the best time, the experience was fun, the staff was warm, kind, fun and well prepared to welcome a very excited group of girls. We took the option of the pizza buffet after the game which was really handy and the girls loved hang out in the restaurant. Thank you for the great and easy no fuss birthday Sherlock team!

Do you need to have watched the show to be able to play the game?
Written 29 August 2023
Nope! Watching the show definitely makes the experience better and you appreciate the Easter eggs more, but you don’t have to watch the show to solve the puzzles :)

Could we play the live experience followed by The Case of the Poisoned Chalice or is that overkill?

We also could pay four tickets.
