When I booked my trip to London some months ago, I also booked the 3hr free walking tour around London as we had previously done a paid for tour in Liverpool with the company and it was excellent. I booked the tour via the website for Sunday 25/10/20 at 10:00am and received the email confirmation. The day before on the Saturday I even received a ‘looking forward to seeing you tomorrow’ email. On the Sunday we arrived at the meeting point in advance of the start time of the tour. In short, the tour guide did not turn up! Disappointed by this, I got in touch via the website with the company and I was told that ‘there is no tour at that time on that day’ which is somewhat ridiculous when I had been allowed to book that on the website. So their answer was to apologise and tell me that with the system had made an error allowing me to book it or when their ‘schedule changed’ I wasn’t informed of the time change. Although the tour was free so I haven’t lost anything in money terms, it was still a disappointment to have not been informed as we would have happily made the 11:00am tour or planned our time to see other things rather than waste time on this seemingly non-existent tour.

Sandman’s really are the number 1 of tour givers. We have taken several torture throughout various cities round the world. Our London tour was no different. Just excellent.

We had Jack for the tour and we started out by being sorted into houses where we would earn points for questions answered correctly! We started the nearly 3 hour Sandemans tour and saw and learnt so much. There are different types of fans, and it was interesting to hear about non book related stuff such as the filming or about Joanne's life. I knew everything about the books themselves but this information was fascinating. Wear layers and always bring more than you think you'll need or at least leave a scarf and beanie in the bag just in case!

We toured with Peter who was amazing! He was a student of Oxford and the information he could tell us was nothing but brilliant. History, stories and plenty of wit, he entertained as much as he educated us! You are able to take the train back to London with your ticket (given at the start of the tour so don't lose it!) at any time you chose. My husband and I looked in a few shops after the tour and then went to the Turf Taven to sit and have a drink for a while. Students were graduating so there were students in dress and proud parents everywhere. Be prepared for a long day which can be made longer if you chose, bring comfy layered clothes, plenty of memory cards and a book for the train! Thanks Peter!
