Visited in family group age range 6yrs - 60+.We all found something to excite us, from the large Egyptian collections , the Greek artifacts, multiple Coin and money finds which fascinated my 10yr old grandson and the clock room which delighted the older members of the group. On a very windy day the only outside queuing was for the necessary... More

So much to see it's really not possible to do it in a day. Pretty much something to suit all tastes - leave time for a good explore! Bets of all, it's completely free - downside is it gets quite busy, with lots of school visits etc.

There's so much to see in the British Museum so I would advise only going to see a few particular sections at any one time. It is free to get in so you can easily come back again if you are staying locally. Take your time and enjoy looking at your favourite sections rather than trying to see it all.... More

We visit the British Museum every time we come to London. The building is amazing. The food is delicious and the exhibits are so varied and interesting. There's something for everyone. They provide you with a Top 10 must see exhibits which we always try to include. You could easily spend a full day in the museum but we prefer... More

This is truly a must visit for anyone in London. You can't do it all in one day, and I try and just look at different rooms each time I pop in. The architecture is lovely, the exhibits are amazing. The food though, well it's expensive, grab something cheap elsewhere!

Despite the completely ineffectual security search, I found the range of exhibits, layout and building itself one of the best museums in the world.

We stopped in here on the last day of our weekend and London. We were overall very impressed with the interior of the museum as well as the different exhibits, especially the ancient Greek and Roman ones. Fantastic that it is free, although there is a suggested donation. It was cool and a good alternative to some of the outdoor... More

Another free attraction, a donation of £5 is suggested. Too much to see in one visit so we targeted the areas of interest on this trip. Great facilities, easy access, helpful staff and beautifully displayed items. There is something here for all ages.

The museum was simply stunning. As everyone has said, there is no way to see everything in one visit. It's easy to get overwhelmed. I'd recommend getting the British Museum app before you go and get familiar with what you want to see while you're there. They do a beautiful job of showing the museum through several filters. One thing... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighbourhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
