    75-minute guided tour backstage.
I went on a 75-minute backstage tour. It was really enjoyable and James was a superb tour guide. Saw some rehearsing on stage for an opera, ballet class in a studio, costume and fabric department and learnt about the history of the ROH.

Everyone should go to the opera!
We had a really fun night seeing Verdi's Il Trovatore. Beautiful building w/ nice performance area. Seats are comfortable although close together. Good quality singers and orchestra. Everyone should go!

    Nice bar!
I learnt about this bar hidden upstairs in the ROH. It has a big open covered area and was perfect on a hot summer night as a nice breeze came through. Seating can be limited as the it is popular place with good views of Covent Garden. The bar menu was limited and they only had one choice of ale and one lager, £6.50 for 2/3rd of a pint was a bit steep. Nice place for a drink but be aware of the limited selection of drinks.

Special Ballet Tour and afternoon tea
We had a lovely time touring backstage of the Royal Opera House, we did the special Ballet themed tour where we heard some amazing story about the history of ballet! We had the unique chance to go behind the scenes including where the famous point shoes come from, and see some historical costumes before having a lovely afternoon tea in a breath taking room with the chandelier that used to be the in theatre. A great afternoon full of dreams and beauty!

Royal opera house tour at Thurrock storage area
This is a new tour at Thurrock,Essex,of the storage space for costumes and creation of the sets for the Royal opera house london, location is excellent just off the M25 plenty of parking spaces for visitors and a lovely on-site cafe for drinks and cake before the tour. Our tour guide Will was very knowledgeable made the tour very interesting was very considerate to all speaking with a good clear voice ,not hurrying answered questions well. The tour takes you thru the storage area of costumes past and recent allowing you to get up close and feel, pictures were allowed here, onto the construction area of the scenery and to witness the preparation. Tour takes about 90 minutes,is mostly on the flat but there is a lift rather than stairs, there is a fair amount of walking and you will be standing. If you've done the royal opera house tour london then you'll defiantly enjoy this

    Carlos at 50
This was a performance celebrating Carlos Acosta who performed at the Royal Opera House and then left to become Director of Birmingham Royal Ballet. This performance is of his favourites supported by the Birmingham artists. It is quite a poignant tribute and, for him, a family affair. There is a mixture of classic and modern ballet so something for everyone with ecstatic recognition from the audience. I was on bench seats right at the top of the auditorium and had a restricted view. The seats were comfortable but I had to lean over the handrail to see the stage. Luckily I has 3 empty seats adjacent otherwise it would have been very cramped. The seats were priced accordingly. Go if you can but I suspect all seats are now sold out.

Royal Opera House Tour - fantastic experience.
Royal Opera House Tour - I visited today for a tour and had a fabulous tour guide Linda who was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and friendly and delivered an excellent tour. Behind-the-scenes access gives a different insight into the work the opera house does and has done for decades. I was inspired and left thinking I must book another tour they offer. Highly recommend. The tours are suitable for those with accessibility needs and delivered in small groups with headsets.

Great place to stop and watch the hustle and bustle below of Covent Garden
Visited Covent Garden many times but saw the Opera House had a roof top bar in hidden gems on TikTok so we popped up for a drink and to take in the views. No need to book you can walk straight into the bar, the restaurant needs booking if you want to eat. What a great spot. You walk into the Opera House up a wide staircase then up a long escalator to the bar at the top. If you have time to wonder the Opera House there are displays of costumes and lots of information. It is a beautiful building and lots to see. The bar is gorgeous and has a real holiday vibe, very busy, we were lucky enough to get a table overlooking the square. Well worth a visit and great to have a roof top view of all the hustle and bustle below.

    Carlos at 50
My wife and I visited ROH this Saturday for the Carlos at 50 performance. This was a personal choice of his favourite ballets ably and brilliantly supported by Birmingham ballet artists. There was a mixture of classic and modern ballet - all was danced so perfectly - and had a very personal feel about it. Nice feature is the outside balcony at the ROH for a quick drink prior to the performance ( as it was a bit hot ) ROH class in abundance as always.

Gorgeous lunch in a great location
We had the most wonderful lunch at the Royal Opera House restaurant in Covent Garden. The food was excellent: fresh, flavourful and beautifully presented. We enjoyed 3 courses in a peaceful civilised atmosphere where we could hear each other talk without any difficulty. The waiting staff were not only efficient but also courteous, charming and very knowledgeable. This is a fabulous place for lunch!

Wow… What a great place to visit. We saw Swan Lake and couldn’t believe has brilliant it was. Seats are extremely expensive, but it’s a bucket list item so worth every penny. The opera house itself was very impressive once you get inside the auditorium, the newer part was very nice but didn’t have any atmosphere. The staff were brilliant, friendly and helpful. We will definitely return…..

Called in for a pre dinner drink, the roof top bar has spectacular views, although it does get very busy so finding comfortable seating could be an issue. Great drinks / cocktail selection, not overly pricey.

Our tour guide Tom led a fantastic behind the scenes tour. He was funny, informative, clear and enthusiastic. The whole group enjoyed his company and he was happy to answer lots of questions at the end! He is a credit to the company. I recommend this tour for anyone who has an interest in opera / ballet & theatre history / production.

Had the absolute joy of taking the inaugural 'Ballet Tea and Tour' in conjunction with the upcoming performances of 'Swan Lake' (Spring 2024). Our guide, Freya, was nothing short of a revelation. Her in-depth knowledge of the venue, the history behind 'Swan Lake' and her obvious love of ballet made the tour one of our most memorable group tours of all time-- made all the more charming by her insistence that as our tour was her 'first turn' at this tour we were somehow getting a 'previews' type experience. Far from it, the tour was exceptional due to her obvious preparation for the role. Perfection.

The behind-the-scenes peek at ballet build-up was so real we actually had to be told to 'watch out for the real people working' and stay out of their way! Most fortuitous was the great luck we had by arriving at a moment when we could witness an actual rehearsal from the upper balcony-- truly magical. Wow.

One small note: the tea experience was average (but did not at all detract from the wonderful experience). Clotted cream in a single-serve container, very basic tea sandwiches and bagged tea-- and no option for champagne (!) (Full disclosure: we are so spoiled that we put high tea at fancy hotels on the top of our list whenever visiting London so snob alert!). And all made right at the end by enjoying a glass of bubbles at the Piazza Terrace with wonderful views of Covent Garden below.

Now, if we could somehow figure out how to score tix to the Monday, April 1st performance it would be the best of all time (note that all performances of Swan Lake are already SOLD OUT!!).

This was a fascinating tour. The guide was knowledgeable and interesting. We were particularly fortunate to see two of the principal ballet dancers rehearsing Swan Lake - so impressive. Would highly recommend this tour.

Omg a lifelong ambition achieved and what a fabulous performance La Boheme was. The singing was fantastic and as for the sets they were just out of this world, clever and accessible. A great all round experience
