The Opera House is beautiful. Dress should be nice. La Traviata was wonderful. Arrive on time because I don’t think they seat you if you’re late. They sell snacks during the intermission. Including ice cream. Seats are the velvet theatre seats. The floor is sort of angled so that people can’t block your view if they’re tall. Very regal looking theater.

Superb atmosphere and performance, let down by the food and drink offer. Enjoy the performance, eat elsewhere

My milestone birthday present from my sister in law was to watch the ballet at this iconic venue. We had a light (but pricey) lunch in the bar, which was enjoyable. It was a real thrill to watch such a fabulous ballet in such famous surroundings, a wonderful and unforgettable experience, albeit it a couple of years late!

A must. Stunning and elegant. Has a great vibe. Came this evening to watch 'New Kyle Abraham / Solo Echo / DGV: Danse à grande vitesse' on the main stage. Lovely. Go early. Enjoy the ambience and atmosphere. The decor, lighting and setting are lovely. Big. I booked a standing ticket which still had a reasonably good view and a barrier so you can lean on this. Standing area is allocated like seats so don't worry about it being crowded or heads in the way. Having said this, if you are short then you may struggle. Luckily, it wasn't full and I moved to a comfortable chair. Staff are pleasant and friendly. Clean. There are numerous places to get a bite to eat or drink inside or outside in the heart of Covent Garden. You don't need to dress up. Some people do but just look neat or smart / casual.

100% one of the outstanding productions of swan lake today. Great sets, amazing costumes, brilliant dramaturgy. The prologue of von Rothbart capturing and entrancing Odille and changing her to a swan is an excellent idea. As was the use of a long skirt for human and the tutu for swan device.

OK, venue. The coffee bar in the floral hall is slow. It exists to employ otherwise, presumably, unemployable staff busy doing nothing. Not enough tables. Honestly they be better franchising it’s out.

I use a wheelchair. Route to seat was ok. Small lift. Good seating area.

Having visited several European grand opera houses I’m amazed at how plain, dowdy and down at heel the Royal Opera auditorium looks nowadays.

I took the opera tour. The guide was extremely boring and the tour as well. The highlight of the tour was getting to see the stage. The info the guide was giving was insignificant: the type of light bulbs used etc …. LED or … very boring tour and not worth the money at all!

I booked tickets for this tour to go with a friend as a birthday gift. I had been previously and thought it was wonderful. Due to COVID the tickets had to be refunded and I was finally able to take my friend last week.

Sadly the tour is now very different to what was on offer before. The most notable aspect being they no longer take you backstage, where you could see the dancers rehearsing, the rooms where costumes are made etc. However, we were able to sit for 10 mins in the auditorium and watch a rehearsal of the opera that was being performed that day, which was great. Other than that, we walked around the main areas of the Opera House and at one point the tour guide spoke about famous cases that had been held at Bow Street which is opposite the Opera House, not really relevant! The icing on the cake was being shown the plug sockets that are used to light up the stage! Whilst I’m sure for some this technical information would be of interest, I felt it was just being used as a time filler. The real joy of this tour was being able to have a glimpse and the behind the scenes workings of such an iconic institution, but sadly due to COVID that is no longer the case.

At the end if the tour, I asked the guide why we hadn’t been backstage and he said, rather tight lipped…..that hasn’t been the case for 2 years(I got the impression he had been asked the same question more than once!) Another visitor asked the same question and be said……It clearly state on the ROH website that the tour does not include backstage access…..and he is correct. Unfortunately, I missed that when I rebooked my tickets.

We went to see Romeo and Juliet which is a ballet to be seen by everybody. The orchestra were amazing (and in my opinion, the star of the show) which really added to the atmosphere.

Went to a lunchtime ballet performance of Romeo and Juliet. Had the cheapest seats at the back of the Auditorium, but they were really good. They were taller than others so had plenty of leg room, and the view was fine. Staff were friendly and helpful. Did nto try any of the other facilities such as restaurants so can nto comment on them, but really enjoyed our performance.
