The small discreet entrance on New Bond Street hides the size of Sotheby's with its many gallery spaces over two floors connecting through to adjacent streets. This enables it to hold several different previews of its auctions at once, in a variety of different ways....More

Wonderful to be able to walk in and look at amazing items that are coming up for sale. The restaurant is excellent. We had a superb afternoon tea but they also have breakfast, lunch and tea menus.

The cafe here is all old world elegance with large mirrors, starchy tablecloths and imperious waiters. It's almost a destination in itself apart from the auction showrooms on two floors. It's currently open as part of London Art Week and so is exhibiting paintings from...More

Some great previews of private auctions. The Bowie/Collector sale viewings were justifiably busy - but not with the usual tourist traffic. Small cafe/restuarant serving lunches/tea. Not always as busy as this November. Popular with ladies of a certain age.

We automatically assume that a valuation from Sotheby's will be accurate and informed - but don't you believe it. I recently asked Sotheby's for a valuation of a rare "double red" Rolex watch. They told me it was worth about £5,000. I did not accept...More
