From a small grocery store in Piccadilly in 1707, has grown a celebrated store with an international reputation for the exclusivity and quality of the products it sells.

Fortnum's Food Hall is an irresistible display of gourmet pleasures, from chocolates and biscuits to smoked salmon and Stilton, vintage marmalade and seasonal produce. Passionate about provenance, we are proud to recommend every jar, spoonful and slice for our hungry customers.

We happened to find ourselves passing Fortnum and Mason and decided to go in, just to see what all the fuss is about. Wow! Just wow! A beautiful store. . .a bit like a fairy tale with big chandeliers and a spiral staircase. However, the most lasting impression I had was with the staff who, unlike in other more upmarket... More

My family and I were walking Piccadilly street and we found this amazing tea store. They have all kinds of tea and biscuits. You can enjoy a casual tea with scones in the 2nd floor. However if you want a more formal experience of tea you can have an amazing afternoon tea in their 4th floor. They have different restaurants... More

Visiting Fortnum & Mason is a must in London. It's the oldest department store on earth in a beautiful historic building. Decor is always over the top fun and hundreds of items not to be found anywhere else!

Our first visit. Although it was very busy, the staff member attending to us (Grace) was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, & enthusiastic. She even helped us track down a tea we had been looking for for a few years (without knowing the name). Also helped us choose a gift for a rather quirky friend.

This is such an English institution. So discreet and classy, unlike Harrods. The packaging and merchandising is perfection. We had lunch in The Gallery and it was absolutely delicious.

Booked this as a surprise 30th birthday treat for my niece and I must say from the reservations team (Leyla) to the waiters were all excellent. Service was prompt, afternoon tea was excellent and the food was awesome. The reservations team even arranged a slice of cake with a candle on it!

I love this shop. Pure opulence and luxury. Staff constantly paying courteous attention to customers and nothing is too much trouble. Wonderful food, treats and gifts and so lovely to walk on carpet in a store. Makes a visit to London special every time I go. Prices are not cheap, but for a special treat is worth every penny. The... More

This is the second year in a row we've done this as a summer's treat and I think it will be one of our staple "modern traditions" going forwards. You are made to feel very special from the moment you walk into the tea-room until the moment you leave. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and the tea-room... More

We arrived, had to ask two waiters to make an order and we just saw our scones walk in and out of the kitchen twice. Usually love fortnum but today is a weird day for their downstairs cafe

We always try to pop in to the wine bar whenever we are visiting London. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, especially Enrique who always manages to recommend great and previously untried wine. Excellent nibbles, cheeses and side dishes also accompany the wines very well. Its a great place to "pause" whilst shopping.

Staying in Mayfair

Neighbourhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
