This was once a neglected and deprived part of the East End of London and must have been a wonderful place for under privileged people to come, now it's surrounded by up market bars and hipster restaurants. There's a classic Victorian metropolitan drinking fountain and a rather nice old hut painted exactly the green you would expect. Otherwise it's a fairly plain space but with lots of room for picnics and children to play. One extra feature is the Church of St Monica which borders it. This was designed by and has frescoes by the celebrated Victorian architect EW Pugin, which were recently uncovered during restoration work.

Yes it's becoming trendy, yes it's another gentrified working class area of London. Does that matter? Boarded up shops have been replaced with interesting independent retailers (I was in the area to visit Goodhood - nice menswear), plenty of clubs and bars for those that want them, and a nice laid back friendly vibe to the place. It's got a good atmosphere and a relaxed feel.

Love this place, its full of bars and during the night is sooo nice. Full of people and it a very good area. Most of places do not charge to enter and People are not snob and you can go dressed normaly, no dress code! The biggest problem is that closes early, but its one of my favorite place in London
