Whilst on a recent visit to Trafalgar Square we came across two interesting details. The first was a quest to locate the famous NOSE reputed to be embedded in adjacent Admiralty Arch. We spotted a couple of people photographing something under an arch on the nearside between busy roads - it was the elusive elevated NOSE! In eventual conversation with... More

We visited The National Gallery which is located directly on Trafalgar Square. The square itself is very impressive with the column of Nelson - which is much larger than we anticipated. Definitely worth popping by.

A large meeting point in front of the National Gallery and St Martin in the fields dominated by Nelsons column and a large fountain. Many performers act un the space offering some entertainment.

The Square was full of people that day for the Chinese New Year. There were performers in every corner of the square. A guy was doing magic, another painting on the floor, a cool guy writing poems, another one playing 🎸, a guy drawing maps of different countries and another man singing. There were lots of tourists on their way... More

I love this place, its surrounded by my favourite art galleries the National Gallery and the Portrait Gallery. There are always buskers and impromptu bands entertaining the crowds and with so many places to sit and relax its so easy to lose track of time. The lions still look spectacular though maybe not as big as they did when I... More

Right in the thick of things with lots of tourists and locals. The street performers in front of the national gallery entertain everyone.

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
