About
The London Dungeon, one of the UK’s most iconic attractions, has reinvented itself now as a bigger, bolder and better attraction in the vast underground vaults of County Hall on the South Bank, next to the EDF Energy London Eye. The all new multi-million pound attraction will bring 1000 years of authentic London history to life with a unique mix of talented live actors performing in scarily funny shows, stunning special effects, edge of your seat surprises and two exciting thrill rides. Guests will embark on a journey through a dramatic London landscape going back ten centuries. They will be guided through ghastly plague-ridden streets, witness Guy Fawkes’ dramatic plot to blow up Parliament, travel back to Jack the Ripper’s bleak Whitechapel and walk beneath London’s foreboding medieval gates. There are new shows and rides which are more dramatic and surprising than ever, new funnier scripts, more theatrical costumes and styling and more talented actors to play even more colourful villains and blaggards.

Neighbourhood: Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.

- EggKayLiverpool, United Kingdom2 contributionsDungeons fantastic but melon group being let down by combination ticket partners. We visited the Dungeons as part as a 3 attraction ticket purchase from the machine outside the venue. The Dungeons are excellent well worth a visit, great and enjoyable history tour. Now,you maybe wondering why the average score. As a family we purchased a 3 attraction ticket and as my daughter has disabilities, we were able to get discount with a carer ticket. The dungeons and sea life was great and staff very friendly but, the big tour bus, which was part of the 3 refused to give a carers ticket even though their website says they do it and charged us £45 for the additional ticket. Now even though it was advertised as a three admission attraction, the extra charge by big bus eliminated the savings made. The Merlin group are being let down by their partners hence why the low review. Anyone considering buying tickets via the carer discount I’d recommend sticking to Merlin and attraction’s and is a different bus tour.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 12 March 2024
- lorrylos57 contributionsNot a great experienceThe actors during the tour clearly enjoying themselves were good and played their parts well which was totally different to those who greeted us on arrival. They were rude and aggressive. We arrived from bright sunshine outside into the near pitch black darkness of the dungeon, we could not see everything around us immediately so pushing us to move on was not helpful or appreciated. Once the tour starts as said previously the actors are good and the stories well told, however it was all quite rushed and the ride at the end of the tour was a little underwhelming. We did not think the tour was at all scary but the history stories about London’s past were interesting.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 June 2024
- Claude Frollo8 contributionsSinful sinners being sinfully dealt withIt seems I forgot to review this elegant brother of the Edinburgh Dungeon, so I shall do so now! I shall begin with the ungodly long queue, I think Jesus lost faith in me as I waited for this location to merely let me into the lobby where there was another accursed queue, I then had some photos taken of me by some beast who kept encouraging me to touch an unholy person, I did no such thing so I folded my arms and pouted with righteous anger, after those dreadful images being made I was greeted by yet another queue and this time it was even longer, I found the experience itself very enlightening though I must confess to seeing the pearly gates on the droptower, people kept mocking me for it! It's not my fault I get panic attacks from falling of Notre Dame de Paris. Anyway it was a lovely experience and I'm glad that the cast kept calling the scoundrels who visited sinners, most fitting as half of them had the attitude of the French.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 June 2024
- William V1 contributionLondon Dungeon Review - August 2024This was my second time going through the dungeon and it was better than the first time I went around! There are always new things there, the actors are always amazing and you get really immersed by the use of smells, sounds and scenery. The scariest part of the attraction is definitely 'The Curse of the Witch' as the 'witch' starts off in a cage, and then suddenly and moves to another cage with a member of the audience inside, and then appears around the room with seat vibrations, strobe lights, loud sounds and smoke. It is not as scary as a halloween scare attraction, but this scene does have a few jump scares. Another scene like this is the 'Ten Bells Pub' with 'Jack the Ripper'. This can be rather scary at first because there are loud sounds and jump scares with the man himself! Overall, I highly recommend this attraction to anyone who likes a spook and a good laugh. It is filled with audience interaction, spooks and laughter and should not be missed. I would say that anyone 10+ should do it, anyone younger might find it to overwhelming. I have done multiple Dungeon attractions now, that being 'Alton Towers Dungeon', 'York Dungeon', 'Edinburgh Dungeon' and 'London Dungeon' and the London version is definitely the best as it is the longest, has two rides, great actors and a perfect location!Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 22 August 2024
- MrsLevHeadMalmesbury, United Kingdom12 contributionsMake sure you understand what you're visiting. If you like live actor scary/horror events this is for you.The attraction itself is extremely well done. My issue is that you're not actually visiting the London Dungeons or even really a mock up of them. You are given some information but it doesn't feel particularly educative or informative. We much preferred the prison tour of the Oxford prison where you actually go to the prison. The tour guide is in fancy dress but you aren't scared half witless. In the "London Dungeons" you and a bunch of strangers are squashed into small spaces with gross smells mostly in the pitch dark or very very dim lighting. You don't know where you are or where you are going or how long it is to last, or where the nearest the fire exit is. You're in a basement. Lots of loud noises. My partner who loves horror films thought it was brilliant. The quality of live actors/acting was very high. Sadly however this was not at all appropriate for my 9 year old son who was terrified and he's fine with mild horror films such as Arachnophobia, but this was too much. It's really expensive, cost us £130 for 3 of us and we had to leave early via a fire escape (along with another traumatised boy from a diff family). I basically had to ask the live actor can we please leave. To his credit he immediately whisked us through the fire door. It would have been better however if we had been told at the start what was involved, how to exit in the event of a fire and it needs an age limit. NOT appropriate for a 9 year old. I was actually quite relieved myself to be out of there. I don't want to be locked in small spaces with strangers in the dark. Also the actors need to assess which of the customers want to be picked on to participate.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 23 August 2024
- SeattleCoventry, United Kingdom180 contributionsterribleThe London Dungeon was one of the places I was most looking forward to visiting. It recreates the dark and悲惨 side of medieval London, immersing visitors in that desperate era. The entire visit was filled with excitement and thrills. The sets and scenes were incredibly realistic, combined with the actors' terrifying costumes and performances, making my heart race. Especially the boat ride, which gave me a sense of fear that was truly immersive. Although the visit was somewhat eerie and terrifying, the actors' performances were so dedicated and impressive. I bought a railcard on trainpal and got a 20% discount when I entered the RC777E code! Hope to help those who come to the UK to play~ Additionally, the souvenir shop at the exit was also very distinctive. It offers various memorabilia and toys related to The London Dungeon, making it hard to resist bringing some home. However, please note that only card payments are accepted here, not cash.4 stars! The Jester shall take those and run! Perhaps you will return to us in the future for another venture into the depths of the Dungeon... - James M3 contributionsSmall family breakThis was my third time at the London dungeons and although it was good there is no longer the great fire of London section which was brilliant. I remember there was some short ride near the end. and the seated drop at the very end to simulate being hung which was brilliant, so very disappointed and won't b rushing back I'm sorry to say.The torturer has some instruments with your name on them. We decided to do London dungeons as part of a London eye multi ticket option.
We had a pre booked time and due to timings of this experience they don't accept you any early or later then the booked time. This is likely because you go through the experience in small groups.
We didn't really know what to expect from this experience. It starts with an actor telling you are part of an assassination plot and you are going to prison. You then get into boats of around 6-8 people that take you n a little ride and then the rest of the experience is going into rooms with actors telling you parts of the history of London.
It's kinda cool, a bit like an escape room but with minimal participation.
Supposed to be a scary experience and it's recommend for kids >12. We had lots of young children in our group and some of them got soo scared they had to pull out of the experience. I'd recommend that parents adhere to the age recommendation!!!
Experience takes 90mins minimum and because it's a walk through with actors contantly talking to you I'd recommend going to the loo before hand.

This review is AMAZING! King Henry is very happy with you, he's offered you his best Jester for the afternoon for your very own private at home entertainment. The jester loves to sing and perform songs for those who give five star reviews, lucky you!! Do come again soon and face the dark depths of the dungeons....IF YOU DARE 💀💀💀

I know it looks a bit cheesy/touristy, and the price is a bit steep, but the London Dungeon attraction was pretty epic. It lasts over an hour with a great cast of characters and locations. Our favorite, of course, being Mrs. Lovett’s pie shop. Totally worth it, if you like that kind of thing, and we do!

Much like Madam Tussaud’s…far too many people in one go. Cramming people in to each area really spoils it, and the pace you have to move in order to get everyone through? Enjoyment down the pan! Good old Merlin operational model wins again! Get as much money as possible in as short a space of time as you can!
That said…if you can stomach the battery-hen conditions, the attraction isn’t bad. The actors really give it their all (sometimes maybe too much all) and they make the attraction fun and interesting so well done to them all…well, most of them. It’s a fun recollection of some of london’s dark history.
Minor point: because of the cramped conditions, can I recommend lockers so coats and bags can be stowed prior to going in? Might save some room so you can get a few more paying customers in at once…
…you’ll probably get more eggs out of us then.

A really boring and overpriced two hours. Reading the other reviews it would appear that I am in the minority I found this to be extremely boring the waiting in the queues between each quite poorly acted scenario was extreme. My son had been so looking forward to the experience and was almost afraid to tell me how poor he thought it was. There were no real thrills or excitement just a series of walks through a dark tunnel with no information about where we were and then long waits without being told why. I cannot honestly recommend this to anybody to spend two hours at a time for so much money it would be better to go to a London theatre and be properly entertained.
This made for a very very disappointing day that we had been looking forward to for weeks

Well this is an interesting review, we suspect what has happened is the Plague Doctor gave you the wrong treatment. Side effects include displeasure and low scoring reviews. For our Dungeons features way more than 'just dark tunnels' and includes 19 interactive shows, 20 live actors and 1000 years of history!
Come back soon so they can give you the correct treatment! Or if you wish to discuss your visit with us, you can get in touch via LDguestexperience@merlinentertainments.biz.

The actors and rooms you troop through are fun.
The actors interact with the crowd well and it is well paced and there are a few 'jump' moments to keep you on your toes.
However we spent the first 30+ minutes standing about in a dark and slightly smelly corridor . With a timed ticket this should not really happen.
In addition the security staff checking bags and regulating the flow of people through the metal detecting arch at the entrance were surly and uncommunicative. Grunting or gesturing at the paying public grumpily. They are pat of the whole experience and really need to go on training to learn how to deal with customers.

Great attraction, the actors really do make history come alive and give stellar performances. The level of detail is really good, and the interaction adds an extra layer of interest. The only downside was that the boat ride had been shut down and no advanced warning had been given, so I wasn’t aware until I was entering the dungeon and had already paid. Would definitely go again though!

Highly recommend this experience if in London. Plenty of scares, actors are brilliant & engaging & the experience moves along without feeling rushed. Not sure I'm recommend for younger kids; from the moment you enter lighting is low & noises are scary, even in the loos! My teens loved it from start to finish but the younger kids were pretty scared & skipped the rides & were glad to come out!

I booked tickets for my 12 year old son and I as we were going up to London with our family and I wanted to take him somewhere different. We booked online and I used my Tesco vouchers so it only cost me £10 for our two tickets. However, after our experience of the dungeons, I would happily have paid full price!
I have only been once before as a child myself and I remember it being scary. I wanted my son to experience that and we were not disappointed!
On arrival, you have your photos taken and then you queue to enter the dungeons. This might take around 15 minutes but it is worth it as the general group size is smaller (covid restrictions). Everyone wore masks and their was hand sanitiser in many places. In total you are with about 4 other households ( socially distanced) for the duration of the experience. We spent around 2 hours journeying through London's gruesome history with lots of frights along the way! The actors were brilliant and because we were in small groups, it felt really personal. In the courtroom I was put on trial for being a witch and I also came face to face with Jack the Ripper! The actors were fantastic and my son absolutely loved it. We finished the experience off with a quick drink in the Tavern, so our legs could stop shaking, and then we left.
I would recommend this to anyone visiting London. It is by far the best attraction I have visited in a long time and I was not disappointed!

Ripoff Britain! For the price of this you could go to Alton Towers for the day, it isn’t worth it in any way shape or form. Don’t waste your money and spend it on something better. They have far too many people in each group, the place is boiling hot and the acts are pretty shoddy.
It’s worth £5 per person, this establishment should be looked into by trading standards as it is blatantly ripping off tourists and residents alike.

I suppose at the end of the busy season some of the actors are a bit bored of it by now, and it shows. (The Witch and the Torturer were the best by far though - they made this 3 stars rather than 2)
The real downside was the MASSIVE size of the groups. Far too many people in one group meant a lot of standing around and means you can't always hear or see what's happening. It also really spoils the interactive side of it. Blackpool Dungeon was a much better experience.
It wasn't really worth the money paid, and the photos at the end were not very good and hugely overpriced.

Well, well, well… the Plague Doctor is pleasantly curious with your review… perhaps you can return to them for another check up so that they can discover how to make that 5 stars 💀 Our Dungeon is recommended for ages 12+ but allows for parental guidance if any of our younger traitors feel brave enough to enter. Some of our younger traitors can get scared but often many are having a thrillingly 'orrible time as the venture through with glee. Come back again soon if you dare 💀

Also are the queues still awful?
