I've taken the street art bike tour with Gary twice, in 2012 and again in 2021, and can't recommend it highly enough. He's full of knowledge about the past, present and future of the area, and of course about the artists active there. With the bike you can cover a lot of ground and get off the beaten path, and see so many great works that you would have no idea were there.

I purchased the Street Art Tour & Workshop for my boyfriend's birthday and we both had a blast. Josh was super informative and friendly and we got a real kick out of both the tour and the workshop. Definitely an experience to remember. Would recommend it to anyone looking to learn a little more about street art in East London and to try something totally unique.

My husband and I really enjoyed our tour (street art). The guide was extremely knowledgeable, not just about the local art but also the history of the area. We've lived in London for 20 years but learnt a huge amount! Thank you.

A really really enjoyable way to spend a Sunday. Full of amazing art, and description from a wonderfully knowledgeable guide. The workshop was great fun and my daughter has already been out to buy her own paint and canvas Highly recommend

We had a wonderful time exploring the East End for the first time. Gary, our tour guide, was warm, personable and really knew the history of the various streets, buildings, architecture and so forth. We also learned a great deal about the various artists whose work we were seeing. It's evident that he's part of the community. The best bit is that he made it fun and engaged our 8 and 10 year old sons. Thanks, Gary, for a fantastic tour!

The team at Alternative London is amazing and Gary who guided us through the street art tour was amazing ..had loads of information on the area and shared stories that not only gave us information of the area but to top it with the artist's mindset. must recommend to anyone who has an eye for art...

I learnt about the Grafifiti art movement and how it came to it's current level whilst walking through the east end and seeing beautiful pieces on display for all to see. Afterwards we were given the chance to try it for ourselves after a quick lesson from our guide. Harder than I thought, but good fun. I wasn't offered the chance to put it on a bag or t-shirt though, but was quite tired by then so didn't mind. All in all I recommend this to everyone except young children as there is a lot of walking, and the tour, (a bit like an art gallery tour) is more for an older mind.
FYI once the workshop finished, it's up to you to find your way back, so maybe the company should put a map to public transport areas, together?

My husband and I recently joined Josh for a Street Art Tour in Spitalfields and on Brick Lane. Josh really opened our eyes about the wonderful street art that permeates the area, why it exists, and how to identify the works of some of the talented artists who are active there. After the tour, we were so excited to be able to identify works by Jonesy, Stix, Invader on our own. Josh gave us the tools to better enjoy this exciting art. Great way to spend an afternoon in London.

My husband took the advantage of less crowds to act as tourists in London. We were recommended The Alternative Tour of East London. It was a highlight of our stay. Gary was attentive and very knowledgeable not only about street art, but about the history of the area. This tour is a must. We thoroughly enjoyed and would highly recommend.

We came back, always wanted to but due to covid couldn't travel to London. This time we booked two tours, a walking street art tour plus the food tour. Both were very informative and loads of fun. The street art tour is different every time you take it, it's the personal emphasis of the tour guide plus our own wishes, we had a private tour. The Christmas card pictures have been made with beautiful street art background.
The food tour not only took us to little tasty discoveries but also taught us a lot about the neighbourhood. Both highly recommended. We will be back for more tours..

Are there any guides who speak French at all? I'm coming with two 12 year olds in May and think this would be interesting for them. Thanks so much xx

I do not know since it probably depends on the guide doing the days tour. I would email the company (Their email address is on their website) and ask if that is an option on any of their tours. Good luck!

Hi, we're coming form October the 23rd to the 27th, ( sunday to thursday), and I would have liked to make this tour, as much as possible, in French as my teenagers don't speak English at all.

I can't decide between the Pub / Craft Brew tour or the Street Art tour. Is there a decent amount of art included in the pub tour? Would doing both tours be too repetitive? Which do you recommend? Thanks

Hi there,
The guides that run our pub tours also take our other walking tours so they know the area and it's street art incredibly well. I would advise to take the pub / craft beer tour and ask the guide to point out some street art along the way.
