Opened in 1871, the Royal Albert Hall is the world’s most famous stage. It is also one of London’s most iconic and visited tourist attractions.

Over the years, it has been the scene of over 150,000 performances; from Wagner to Sinatra, The Beatles to Beyonce, Muhammad Ali to Adele, and is home to the celebrated BBC Proms.

Whilst the venue is most famous for its shows by night, by day this treasured building is open for coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and guided tours of the building.

Tip for tour ticket holders: Enjoy a 10% discount on items in the Hall’s gift shop and Cafe Bar.

The Royal Albert Hall never gets old. It is an amazing venue to enjoy many different kind of shows given that the stalls adapt to any need, from concerts to performances. I was there to see the Amaluna show by The Cirque du Soleil and I was impressed by the whole thing. The show was impressive and the venue was... More

Music has never been important to me but we have attended the spectacular for the last five years with friends and found both the music and this wonderful building an inspiration. Wonderful afternoon of entertainment.

Royal Albert Hall is One of my favourite venues , we had a lovely meal in the " Verdi" restaurant staff very pleasant, we were served quite quick, food was very nice & finished in time for the show. " cirque du Soleil " is a performance not to be missed, its full of energy, electric, & colours, you can't... More

On the day I went (afternoon of 13th January) the whole show including the 25 minute interval barely lasted 2 hours. After 10/12 minutes the performance was stopped for about 10 minutes without explanation and after resumption lasted only about 30 minutes. The second half was just 40 minutes plus a few for farewell bows. Clearly a part of the... More

We went to see Amaluna at the Royal Albert Hall. 12 minutes in to the show, they stopped the performance and the stage went black. They brought the house lights back up and announced that they were having technical difficulties and that the show would resume shortly. After about 10 minutes, it resumed in a completely different place to where... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
