Opened in 1871, the Royal Albert Hall is the world’s most famous stage. It is also one of London’s most iconic and visited tourist attractions.

Over the years, it has been the scene of over 150,000 performances; from Wagner to Sinatra, The Beatles to Beyonce, Muhammad Ali to Adele, and is home to the celebrated BBC Proms.

Whilst the venue is most famous for its shows by night, by day this treasured building is open for coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and guided tours of the building.

Tip for tour ticket holders: Enjoy a 10% discount on items in the Hall’s gift shop and Cafe Bar.

We did the grand tour and it was fabulous. In addition to touring various seating areas (including the box next to the royal box), we got a great sense of history about the hall and the various artists who have performed there. The tour lasted about an hour.

Fabulous tour and very informative. The guide was brilliant. So glad to have done this now as would feel more comfortable in booking for seats to see a show now.

I went to see Handel's Messiah on Good Friday last year, it was phenomenal! The sound was simply devine and there is not a bad seat in the house. All amphithéâtre should be build like the RAH. I would advise arriving there in enough time to find your seat. There are a few cloakrooms and restaurants. I must if you... More

Visited recently for Cirque du Soleil: Amaluna. The hall has a great layout so you would have a good view no matter where you are seated. Staff were very attentive. The hall was very clean. The show itself was AMAZING!!!

We went mainly to say we'd been and we watched cirque du soleil (which was amazing). The bars were reasonably priced and the staff were helpful and friendly. I think they should have a strict no photography policy as people constantly filmed and took photos during the performance - even after being asked very strongly not to by staff. I'm... More

We have been here for a number of different reasons. We have attended concerts, Christmas services and even the showing of Indiana Jones accompanied by live music from the orchestra. Each time has been an experience and the sound is just amazing. Each time I go I look forward to a different experience. I just keep coming back.

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
