Santander Cycles is London's self-service, bike-sharing scheme for short journeys. You can hire a bike from as little as £2. Simply go to any docking station with your bank card and touch the screen to get started. There's no need to book - hire a bike, ride it where you like, then return it to any docking station.

We hired two bikes on Saturday in Regents Park. It took an Australian visitor to show us how to work it out. We hadn't been pressing the right button to pay etc. Just make sure you unlock and dock properly. We enjoyed hiring the bikes...More

London is exhausting by tube or on foot, biking you will see what an amazing city it is & it will energise you. If you are nervous, do it on the weekend when much less traffic, follow recommended routes on google maps, and for right...More

This is an excellent way to see London by bike. One of the easiest routes is to use the "Cycle Superhighway" that runs north-south across Blackfriars Bridge, and east-west on the north side of that same bridge. These are dedicated bike lanes with separate traffic...More

More expensive than they used to be if you go over the 30 minutes initial period and some of the bikes are quite tatty. We use them regularly and have never had any real problems. All I would say is that if you're not used...More

I've been an annual member for a few years, and I use these almost daily on long rides. That's a couple of thousand miles, hundreds of rides, from/to at least 100 different docking stations (my work takes me everywhere in Central London). I absolutely love...More

More popularly known as Boris Bikes, the Santander Cycles have become as synonymous with London's transport network as black cabs, red buses and the Tube. In theory these things are great; you hire a bike for a very reasonable fee, cycle around one of the...More

Clearly this company has a bad habit of overcharging customers and then proving impossible to get reimbursement from! Wish we had read the poor reviews of Santander Bicycle Hire on Trip Adviser prior to downloading the app and happily setting off on our bicycles around...More

Really need to get there act together. Charged even though bikes didn't release. Even charged £6 instead of £2 for a 10 minute ride. Don't even bother trying to get a refund. Pathetic.

Hi, Children need to be 14 years or older to use Santander Cycles - the bikes are too big for a 7 year old to use safely. Matt - Community Manager - Santander Cycles
