This large green space in London - best tube stop is Holborn - is a bit like an oasis. Peaceful and calming. Lots of people seem to know about it as there were quite a few there when we visited. Eating, reading, chatting, relaxing.

If you need to clear your head or calm down after visiting your barrister its a nice tranquil place to sit down.
Cafe opens when the sun shines (not February).
Make sure you visit John Soanes museum across the road (free entry) as it is well worth seeing.

I had to be at the Royal College of Surgeons of England at least once in my life, because of my profession. So one day last winter I went to visit the College located at Lincoln's Inn Fields.
I got down at Holborn tube station and walked my way to the square,asking for directions. The place is nice and quite, with imposing huge mansions all around. Some of these buildings are very old. Royal College including the Hunterian Museum is located on the South side.
Another famous owner of a building at Lincoln's Inn Fields is London School of Economics.

Found out about this place recently, so decided to come here for the afternoon. Thankfully the weather was great! The area is a nice open green space with benches around the outside - very pleasant experience overall.

This is essentially a parkland square surrounded by impressive buildings. The park has been cleaned up in recent years but is not really a destination in itself. It is likely that you will walk through on the way to somewhere else such as the Lincoln's Inn itself. You will not linger here.

This is a large square park where you can walk, jog, sit or play tennis. There are several gates into the park, but it does close early - at 5pm, when we visited and we had to walk around the whole of the park to find the one gate which was still open. There is a café in the middle of the park, but that closes at 4pm.

This is quite a large square with the garden in the middle. Public access with a cafe (which I didn't try), lots of mature trees, tennis courts to hire if you so wish.
In good weather, worth a sit down, just to get some air after the wonderful Sir John Soane's Museum just be the garden.

My wife and I watched a TV program called "The Halcyon", about a hotel in London during WWll. The show only lasted one season, but we were curious as to the building in which the show was set - what building doubled as this magnificent old hotel?
Research showed us that it was the old Land Registry Building in Lincoln's Inn Fields (the green space for Lincoln's Inn), so when we visited London (as tourists from Australia) in June 2017, we looked it up.
It's a lovely old building, so we had the obligatory photos taken in front of it. There were signs up to say that they were filming something else in the area at the time (a Sunday), but that didn't disrupt us.
Then we walked around and through Lincoln's Inn Fields themselves. There were lots of locals with picnic blankets and little portable barbecues enjoying the outdoors; coffee was available; and there were tennis courts too.
From there, it was a short walk to Fleet Street.

This park is a two-minute walk from Holborn Tube Station.
There are plenty of benches and huge lawns, which can be quite full on a sunny day. There is always an interesting mix of people: lawyers, university lecturers, office workers, and lots of students.

Lincoln's Inn Fields is a large public square in the Holborn area where you can find a nice patch of green space and a collection of interesting historical attractions which surround this field.
The square was originally laid out in the 1630s and was at one time the execution site under the Tudurs and Stuarts. Now, in addition to a generally nice park you can see Lincoln's Inn and the attractive Tudor style archway leading into the park. Nearby, you can see Old Curiosity Shop, which may have been the shop referred to in Dicken's novel by the same name. Also, you can visit the very good Sir John Soan's Museum and see the exquisite collection of antiquities on display in what is surely one of London's must surprisingly good museums.
Overall, we felt the square itself was fine. It pales in comparison to the large city parks like St. James, Green, Hyde or Regent's parks but it is a nice patch of green space, which is always a nice thing to find in a sprawling city like London. What we did very much enjoy at Lincoln's Inn Field was the Sir John Soan's Museum, which is a remarkable collection well worth seeking out for those who enjoy history and museums.
