Although there have been various earlier entertainment buildings on the site the reconstructed Adelphi Theatre, with its art deco interiors, opened to the public in December 1930 with Jessie Matthews starring in Ever Green. The front-of-house areas of the Adelphi Theatre were restored to their original lustre and extravagance in 1993 when Andrew Lloyd Webber became co-owner and opened his musical production of Sunset Boulevard. Other famous productions at the Adelphi Theatre include Gertrude Lawrence in Cole Porter’s Nymph Errant, Ivor Novello’s The Dancing Years, Bless The Bride, Beatrice Lillie as Auntie Mame, Van Johnson in The Music Man, Lionel Bart’s Blitz! and Maggie May, Charlie Girl with Anna Neagle, a revival of Me and My Girl originally starring Robert Lindsay and Emma Thompson and in the Adelphi Theatre’s longest run (over nine years), the new Broadway production of Kander and Ebb’s Chicago. Revivals of Evita and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat have proved enormously popular. More recently, the theatre played host to the worldwide premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Love Never Dies.

Incredible show!!!!

The show was fantastic, exceeded all expectations! Was fun, colourful, good use of props, but the singing I can't even describe made the hair on the back of your neck stand on end!

We got our tickets at the TKTS office in Leicester Square for half of the face value price. The show was lively, colourful and a lot of fun and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

I was expecting this to be totally hilarious, and that is what it was! However, what a truly wonderful story, this I was not expecting. I had no idea about this show as I'd not seen the film and didn't know the story. It was poignant and emotional, I was crying with sadness and laughter! The cast was amazing. The... More

What a fabulous show! We had a great evening out. The two leads were both amazing actors and singers, but the drag queens (including the fantastic Lola) really stole the show! Colourful, over the top and full of fun. We can't recommend it highly enough!

This is the best 'feel good' show in town...do not miss it. Fab cast, fab choreography, wonderful costumes, great songs and a perfect evening out for all. The energy on stage is electric and transmits fully to every member of the audience. Well done all!
