Although there have been various earlier entertainment buildings on the site the reconstructed Adelphi Theatre, with its art deco interiors, opened to the public in December 1930 with Jessie Matthews starring in Ever Green. The front-of-house areas of the Adelphi Theatre were restored to their original lustre and extravagance in 1993 when Andrew Lloyd Webber became co-owner and opened his musical production of Sunset Boulevard. Other famous productions at the Adelphi Theatre include Gertrude Lawrence in Cole Porter’s Nymph Errant, Ivor Novello’s The Dancing Years, Bless The Bride, Beatrice Lillie as Auntie Mame, Van Johnson in The Music Man, Lionel Bart’s Blitz! and Maggie May, Charlie Girl with Anna Neagle, a revival of Me and My Girl originally starring Robert Lindsay and Emma Thompson and in the Adelphi Theatre’s longest run (over nine years), the new Broadway production of Kander and Ebb’s Chicago. Revivals of Evita and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat have proved enormously popular. More recently, the theatre played host to the worldwide premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Love Never Dies.

Despite having seen this show twice before I had no qualms in going again when my granddaughter requested seeing it for her birthday, my other friend that came with us has now seen it 7 times. Brilliant, outrageous, heart warming and pure entertainment

Having seen the film my partner and I were delighted to get same day tickets at a great price, having heard good things about the musical. We were not disappointed. It's a modern feel good musical, with great songs and a funny script. The guy who played Lola was amazing! Highly recommended!

Amazing performance, especially Lola's character. The range of acting was impressive, Choreography and execution was unbelievable in those boots and their voices were incredible. The theatre is of a good standard but drinks and icecream prices were the most expensive we encountered during our stay.

We went here for a birthday celebration on a girls night out. The atmosphere was great and the play superb. The guys wearing those 'Kinky Boots' were awesome- and the dance routines terrific. Would thoroughly recommend going here for a 'feel good' night out. Enjoy

4 of us went and we all agreed that the show gets off to a slow start and was without much content! But the second half was much more enjoyable and Lola was amazing. I applaud all the guys in the kinky boots (I know how hard it is to walk in them)

A slow first 15 minutes but it got going once Lola & co. started strutting their stuff. The solo's with 'Charlie' dragged a bit. Overall a good fun night out.

If you want to see a musical that has a story then see this! This is the second time we have seen it, first time being on broadway and this production did not dissapoint! The theatre can get a little cold at times so I'd advise take something to put on. The actual show is amazing with excellent production values... More

Came to London to see this show with my husband and 17 & 19 year old daughters and we all loved it! It was outstanding! The singing was fantastic & the drag queens were out of this world! Also loved the comedy acting of Lauren in particular. Probably not suitable for younger children but I loved every minute of it... More
