Although there have been various earlier entertainment buildings on the site the reconstructed Adelphi Theatre, with its art deco interiors, opened to the public in December 1930 with Jessie Matthews starring in Ever Green. The front-of-house areas of the Adelphi Theatre were restored to their original lustre and extravagance in 1993 when Andrew Lloyd Webber became co-owner and opened his musical production of Sunset Boulevard. Other famous productions at the Adelphi Theatre include Gertrude Lawrence in Cole Porter’s Nymph Errant, Ivor Novello’s The Dancing Years, Bless The Bride, Beatrice Lillie as Auntie Mame, Van Johnson in The Music Man, Lionel Bart’s Blitz! and Maggie May, Charlie Girl with Anna Neagle, a revival of Me and My Girl originally starring Robert Lindsay and Emma Thompson and in the Adelphi Theatre’s longest run (over nine years), the new Broadway production of Kander and Ebb’s Chicago. Revivals of Evita and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat have proved enormously popular. More recently, the theatre played host to the worldwide premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Love Never Dies.

Brilliant uplifting show. All cast members portrayed their roles superbly. Songs were fantastic and delivered with passion and meaning. Picked up the storyline quickly and it kept the pace and intensity all the way through. Didnt want it to end. Recommend the show and cast highly.

It was the best show ever for me. It was fun, energetic, laugh out loud, also with a few serious bits. The dancing and singing was fab. I enjoyed it so much I can't rave enough about it. "Lola" was fantastic and my favourite were the drag queen dancers who were superb. The whole cast were excellent and so talented.... More

Positively blinking awesome. Matt Henry is amazing, as are the rest of the cast. It's fun, energetic, colourful and more than entertaining. Want to go again but pay for better seats!

Saw this at start of year and really enjoyed it, this time only 5 rows from front. Great impact, superb acting, not surprised Matt Henry won an Olivier award. Just fantastic

Not sure what to expect, and it started a little slow, but gained momentum and was terrific! Not for kids, but thoroughly enjoyable for adults. Lead actor Lola/Simon was terrific, with his mannerisms and great voice! Would actually see it again.

We booked this months before we travelled. That way you get to pick your seats which I find better. Seats were great. Theatre beautiful. The show was fantastic. Very entertaining. Cast was great. Well worth seeing when in London.

Wasn't quite sure what to expect, had heard good reviews and managed to get some tickets on the day from the tkts booth in Leicester Square. Great feel good factor in the show, which was with its new cast, who I must say were excellent. Definitely worth going to experience!
