Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great walk from Jonnie, lots of interesting information and a good pace around Covent Garden, Soho and Piccadilly. Will be returning. Thanks,

Really enjoyed the 2 hour walk around Spitalfields & Shoreditch. Johnnie is full of interesting facts and information about the areas history…was a fun experience & truly recommend. We’ll definitely be returning to try another area of London.

Jonnie was awesome - discovered Bowl of Chalk via Instagram so thought i'd come along as see if the online content matched the IRL experience and I couldn't have been more pleased. Friendly, informative, funny, and and interesting. Jonnie took time to learn all the guests names, made conversation between stops and offered personalised insights based on guest's nationalities, lines of work and interests...and he seems to really enjoy what he does, so you can't help but want to support a person like that. 10/10, will definitely be a repeat customer

Highly recommend Jonnie & his tours. Great to meet him in person after following his Insta videos. We all (parents with adult children) enjoyed Jonnie’s passion to share his immense knowledge, delivered in a friendly and informal way. There’s so much to tell and so much to learn but dotting it with fun facts and quirky turns makes it really fun and helps it stick. The pace is more a meandering stroll and helped us get our bearings above ground ( when we spend so much time on the underground).

We did 2 tours: Bankside to Borough and Covent Garden/ Soho/ Piccadilly Circus. Both really good. Different for sure. Wish there were more on offer, but accept it is the low season.

Just do it!

...But I did and Jonnie (Mr Chalk) was as good in real life as he is in his inta videos. Knowledgeable, interesting, funny and warm. Can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Have already booked again.

Can’t recommended a tour with Jonnie enough - fantastic for anyone visiting or living in London who wants to learn more. Jonnies interest in places is infectious - we couldn’t believe where the time had gone we were so enthralled. He set the perfect pace, had great insights and was super friendly - can’t wait to join another!

Excellent!! We joined one of Johnnie’s walks around Trafalgar Square. It was great! Unexpectedly broad and varied, including parts of the Embankment, Covent Garden, Strand and others. We learned stuff that’s not In the mainstream tourist guides – very much off-the-beaten track. Johnnie is a hugely passionate, knowledgeable and entertaining guide – we would highly recommend his tours!

Jonnie made this walk a very enjoyable and fascinating 2 hours. His relaxed, jovial style meant that it felt more like a walk with a knowledgeable mate, than a strict: let me reel off facts tour.
Never took any photos because it was great just to listen, ask questions and learn stuff. Not just the formal stuff, but great quirky things too; including the menacing life of the Pelican.(sign up to learn more). The pace is gentle.Plenty of stop, look and learn pauses along the way, so good for any age or ability. My personal favourite fact was about Pall Mall being an early version of a golf course, Pall Mall being derived from an Italian word for the said game. Look it up! I literally gasped with delight at this fact, and put in my: one day it will come up at the pub quiz file. 🙃 So, excellent value for money; really entertaining; filled with facts both fun and fascinating and some left over chocolates from Jonnies cavernous back pack. Sign up, you won't be disappointed. I promise.

A great tour of the Blackfriars/Fleet St area. A great glimpse into the history that is hidden behind the public areas of this historic part of London. It’s particularly good when led by a witty and knowledgeable guide who makes interesting connections between apparently unconnected facts and has stories that appeal to all generations. A great way to spend a few hours in London.
