The Savoy Theatre is currently home to Gypsy which stars Imelda Staunton, Lara Pulver and Peter Davison. Don't miss Gypsy, one of the greatest ever Broadway musicals, as it transfers to the West End following its sell-out, rapturously acclaimed five-star run at Chichester Festival Theatre. Imelda Staunton delivers a 'knock-out performance' (The Independent) as Momma Rose in Jonathan Kent's 'dazzling revival' (Mail on Sunday), alongside Lara Pulver, who reprises her 'stunning' (The Independent) role as Louise. They'll be joined by Peter Davison as Herb, in this gloriously entertaining musical fable that features 'showstopping' (Mail on Sunday) choreography from Stephen Mear. Based on the true life memoirs of legendary burlesque entertainer, Gypsy Rose Lee, it tells the tale of Momma Rose and her two daughters, Baby June and Louise, trekking across America in their family vaudeville act. But times are changing, audiences are expecting more, and the two girls have their own ambitions in mind. The rise of burlesque is upon them, and nothing will ever be the same again for Momma Rose. With lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by Arthur Laurents and music by Jule Styne, this moving and 'scintillating' (The Times) production of Gypsy is the first to be seen in London for 40 years.

Saw Dreamgirls Weds 15th Feb. Was quite disappointed, the first half was very slow although did improve in the second half. Amber Riley as Effie was just A maze Ing!!!! but everyone else pales beside her. Having seen Mowtown the Musical (fantastic show) and knowing this was based in the same era I was expecting great things but it was... More

Dreamgirls was an amazing show. Amber Riley was phenomenal! I'm definitely going to try and get more tickets. The theatre is good, seating wise - you always have a good view no matter where you are. The stalls bar is to be avoided just due to the size, you are always in someone's way. The mezzanine bar is better. Also,... More

We visited the theater recently. Being disabled I was a bit bothered about ques and stairs. The staff were extremely helpful, There were a few stairs to climb but I did manage these. The seats were very comfortable and the intval service was very good.

A matinee performance of this impressive musical show. Innovative story telling, a great cast and a marvellous orchestra makes for an unforgettable performance. The rapturous applause and standing ovation at the end tells the show story. One of the best musical shows we've been to.

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
