Address
Neighbourhood: Shoreditch
The western front of the edgy East End, Shoreditch is a perennially trendy haven for anything “street” – be it art, food, or fashion. With its handful of well connected transportation links dotting its perimeter, along with an ever increasing variety of shops, hotels, bars, and restaurants, it's easy to explore this trend-conscious and youth-oriented neighbourhood. There's a lingering post-industrial grit about Shoreditch, but because it shares a border with “The City” financial district, the influence from its upscale neighbour can result in fascinating outcomes.

    Good.. BUT
was quite nice, the instructor i think his name was john made it fun and was quite funny. however it was a bit annoying having to share one bowl of chocolate with a whole other table. it would have been better to have a bowl per pair. also the website said we would have some chocolate to nibble during the session but that wasn’t true, we weren’t allowed to lick the spoons or anything because of sharing a bowl with others on the table so that was a bit misleading as it said on the website we would be able to eat some during the class. also another negative was that the chocolate slab wasn’t really a slab it was a few teaspoons of melted chocolate poured onto parchment paper. the main good part of the class was the instructor that made it fun and learning to make truffles. it was good fun but wouldn’t really go again

    Disappointing
It was good but website lists you will make a slab, truffles, fudge/chocolate wedge and taste chocolate throughout the session. We made a chocolate button and truffles! So very expensive when you think about it. For 4 people cost £140 and we walked away with roughly 200g of chocolate between us if we were lucky.

    Waste of money
Not worth the money at all. Paid for two places (£110) and came away with 13 truffles and 2 large chocolate buttons. Lots of time waiting around in between activities. Probably only needed an hour max for tasks. Host was lovely but whole thing was a rip off.

Unhygienic & bad value for money
The event was poorly laid out as we were on tables of 6 with 1 bowl of chocolate/toppings so long waits to be able to use anything. We were there for 1hour30mins and all we were able to make was 1 small chocolate disk and 8 small chocolate truffles when other people who have used different companies have been able to make loads of goodies to take home. It was unhygienic as people's hands/arms were all over the tables we had to have our chocolate directly on to make and the other people on our table kept putting their fingers in the toppings to pick them up which was gruesome. Avoid this experience as it's a waste of money.

Good fun, but needs to be done in a proper kitchen environment
A fun experience, the instructor was very good. It was a mild day though and the chocolate didn't set, which was really disappointing that they didn't have the proper kitchen equipment with the cost of this course. This meant we couldn't properly transport the created chocolates and they just ended up a mess.

Great fun. Well run by Martha. Plenty of chocolate! Very conveniently placed in Manchester. Hand washing facilities closer by would have been useful

Very pleasant Sunday afternoon: a 2 h workshop led by Hannah. We made ganache, piped it and hand rolled truffle cores then enrobed them in tempered plain and milk chocolate together with a variety of flavourings. We worked in pairs on tables of 6 or 8. We didn't learn anything about the history of chocolate that we didn't already know, and we didn't see the tempering process which would have been useful to learn more about. Furthermore, the promised 'slab' of chocolate turns out to be two tablespoons of liquid chocolate smeared out on a sheet of paper. But, I suppose, it has a limited time to set. Nevertheless the workshop was well led and moved at a good pace, allowing us to be creative. The venue was nothing to write home about on the outside (shuttered up until about 30 min before the allotted time, and the doors didn't open until 5 min before, so take a brolly if it's raining). Inside was very clean and well laid out.

This workshop was so fun! I went with my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday and we’ve had a blast.
The Chocolatier is amazing, really entertaining. He’s got jokes for days, charisma and a killer playlist - plus he really knows his chocolate facts.

100% recommended, I will do again and take a friend :D

Friendly team made everyone welcome. John was amusing and informative.
Great way to spend a couple of hours and homemade chocolate truffles at the end of it!

Booked through Virgin Experiences, as a birthday present for my friend, and we had a good laugh and ate so much!
Had a fun yet efficient host leading a very thorough two hour workshop. The recipes are simple but delightful. Loved the playlist throughout too, and really appreciated the air con on a heatwave day! The team uses good quality chocolate and ingredients - the chocolate martini was a particular highlight.

Hannah was leading this session, and it was amazing. Surprise for my gf’s birthday, and it didn’t disappoint. Instruction was great, takeaways were class, and overall just so well put together.

I was bought this experience as a Xmas present. Had such a good time and lots of laughs. Making truffles, chocolate slab and chocolate martini (which was fun and cocktail was lovely). Would definitely recommend doing this chocolate experience. Host was really good and made us laugh. Showed us what to do.
