Our friends and ourselves belong tonNational Trust, English Heritage and HHA. We trey to visit one place each week. Yesterday we decided on Eltham Palace and gardens. Not too far from us. Who would have thought that so close to London and in a built up area there was this little oasis. The Palace itself was an absolute delight, friendly... More

I spent a couple of hours at this delightful English Heritage property today. It is absolutely stunning, it literally took my breath away. The house and gardens are incredible , the staff exceptionally helpful and I love the idea of the audio guide from which you can obtain extra information if you so wish. It's truly amazing that this gem... More

Wonderful Art Deco interiors and stunning location within an adapted Castle. Wandering the superb gardens and grounds on a late spring day yet within sight of the Shard and St Pauls across the river.

Visited with a friend who loved this place!!! Don't miss it! It is just lovely every time I have been- and even though it was built in the 1930s is so modern and a sheek I would live in it now!!! Don't miss this treat!

Nice place clean toilets and a good selection in the shop (same as any English Heritage) but not a place that looks after drivers who may have started the day early with having nothing more than a cup of tea to get here and only offered a free drink Food is available but I was better of walking to the... One of my dreams has now been fulfilled - to visit Eltham Palace - having seen it feature often on television. Not only is the interior of the palace an Art Deco dream, but also the gardens and palace ruins worth the visit too. The audio tour is very well arranged, with different levels of detail to choose from. The... More

We have wanted to visit this unique combination of old and relatively new palace, we were not disappointed, it is so well restored, the Courtauld's lifestyle sounded fabulous, such a moment in time. The gardens were beautiful but the rain deterred a full exploration. The Cafe served good coffee and lunch. The guides were all very knowledgable and friendly. The... More

This is one of London's hidden gems - a beautiful Art Deco house attached to a medieval banqueting hall -- both of which have been beautifully restored -- surrounded by the remains of one of Henry VIII palaces. The house was built in the 1930s by the Courtaulds who were extremely wealthy even for those days. The house was built... More

A semi-moated Art Deco house attached to a medieval great hall - you couldn't do that today. The house has lots of wood panelling which at times seems a bit dark and oppressive, though the Courtaulds did repair a lot of the older structures and the ceiling of the great hall is very impressive. though there are many rooms you...
