Beautiful game food

Quite light on the vegetable front, but the meatiness is amazing! I had the venison pie - it was pie of the week. I got extra gravy because it was as a bit dry, but with the gravy... read more

My husband and I visited the Jugged Hare twice during our stay at the Montcalm next door, for s beer the day we arrived and for breakfast the next morning, both equally great visits. The bar was rammed for a Tuesday evening with people grabbing a beer on the way home. Guest ales were excellent and well kept. Breakfast next... More

Hare by name and hair by nature. The jugged hare is a real gem. Specialising in game and meat the jugged hare is a find and a must visit for any red blooded carnivore. Large rstaurant and bar area upstairs with a stunning function room in the basement. The decor is as a traditional English pub which befits for the... More

My wife and I went for lunch before going on to the Barbican concert Hall. It is just across the road and so really convenient. This is a pub/restaurant speciaisling in English Game; Vension, hare, partridge etc. It is nicely appointed with a proper English pub feel to it. The menu is amazing if you like game. I chose the... Going to the Barbican for a play? You couldn't pick a better place for a before theater dinner. It is just at the street to the silk road entrance to the Barbican. The Jugged Hare specializes in all sorts of game. We had three starters instead of any "mains" and one was better than the next: a superb game pate... More

Went with an old friend for Sunday lunch. As I took my dog we had the restaurant menu but at the bar. We opted for the 3 game bird feast to share which was excellent. Pic here if you're interested The staff are really friendly yet professional in every way. I used to drink here many years ago and the... More

Dropped in for a quick drink and snack prior to a graduation ceremony at the Barbican. Had a pint of the Jugged Hare pale ale, which was in fine condition, and a bowl of chips (which turned out to be the finest, largest chips I have ever encountered). The service was swift, and everything was well presented. I noticed that... More

So not sure if u looked at my previous review but now here for the fourth time and the food is amazing. Secondly and adding to previous review at jugged hare bar / pub. Again it looks like a pub but don't under estimate it as every detail in the background is being thought of. Ask for water and it... More

Really nice and welcoming Food really delicious, warm and tasty. Service was impeccable Lovely place to meet with family and friends to catch up. We had crab and prawn to start , then a lump of beef each to scoff!! Pudding was delicate but much needed !! All washed down with port 😊😊😊😊

While on a getaway with my lovely wife we were recommended The Jugged Hare by a friend; to our delight! Great atmosphere, excellent food offerings that should not be missed. Be sure to try the Grey Gull Eggs while in season. We will definitely be back!

Thank Lord-Tubby

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
