Top ways to experience Up at The O2 and nearby attractions
The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Greenwich
Greenwich Mean Time starts here, so to speak, as the very concept of global time was established at Royal Observatory, just one of several buildings of architectural interest in Greenwich. Indeed, the whole of Greenwich's historic town center, its Royal Park and a number of related buildings (and one world famous ship, the Cutty Sark) make up the UNESCO World Heritage site known as Maritime Greenwich. Today a laser beam is shot out across the night sky from the Observatory to mark the location of the Prime Meridian. Other bold (some say brash) 21st century additions to the area include landmarks such as The O2 entertainment complex (previously known as the Millennium Dome) and the Air Line cable cars, which offer scenic transport across the Thames between North Greenwich and the Royal Docks.

- Charlotte QuinnLeeds, United Kingdom5 contributionsFantastic birthday experience with a glass of bubbly 🥂Had a great time UP the 02, Freya took us through the training and guided the tour, she really knew her stuff and made us laugh the whole time too. We organised the excursion for our Dad’s birthday and it exceeded expectations! Freya even poured us a glass of bubbly at the top of the 02 to top things off :)Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 8 October 2023

Joey, our guide was great, a real asset to your team. He explained everything with real passion and knowledge, he engaged with the whole group really well and clear loves his job. Was nervous booking because of the time of year so lucked out with the weather being dry and sunny albeit windy. - Rama RLondon, United Kingdom710 contributionsFun experience. We had booked the 11:30 am slot on our daughter's birthday which fell on a Saturday. The weather showed clear skies when I booked a few weeks ahead, but that morning it was rainy, windy and cold. I really thought we had messed up our girl's big day, but thankfully just as we were all kitted up to start climbing, everything cleared up and the sun shone brightly down upon us. We could see all the landmarks from the observation deck on the top of the O2. The climb itself was easy though it is a little stressful in the ankles when you are doing the steepest ascent (30°). The descent is much simpler. The whole experience takes about 1.5 hours from registering to visiting the gift shop to collect your photos (includes a briefing session, getting kitted up and photos). This is a good activity for a day out in London.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 5 November 2023
- Saff A1 contributionAbsolutely incredible day out!The climb seemed daunting at first but was definitely worth it for the incredible view of London. Our guide Johnny was amazing; friendly, chatty and enthusiastic throughout the whole climb, and was always checking in on each of us. He was also very knowledgeable about the sights of London at the top of the O2, and took many photos for us which was an added bonus. Thank you Johnny!Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 30 November 2023
- l gHampshire, United Kingdom229 contributionsAbsolutely brilliantWe did this today at 4:30pm so we got to see London at night. Our guide was lovely and very kind with advice as I was worried about the strain on my knees on the decent. He advised me to go backwards which made perfect sense. The view from the top is spectacular and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 December 2023

They were very understanding and put us at ease. The climb was lots of fun and the instructors are all an asset to the company. Freya on our climb was brilliant and had us smiling.Hi Lauren, thank you for visiting our attraction, we appreciate the feedback. Our guide Scarlet was fantastic, she was knowledgable and had an infectious enthusiastic personality ensuring we had fun all the way. It is very well organised activity, and we had the opportunity to borrow jackets, shoes and gloves. We definitely needed the shoes as it was slippery on the way down. I would highly recommend this for a fun 90 minutes in East London.Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Trip Advisor following your experience at Up at The O2. We went on the Sunset Walk and our guide Linda did a wonderful job in making us feel safe and entertained during the duration of the walk. She was vety knowledgeable about the surrounding sites that she pointed out on the way up/down, which without we wouldn't have spotted! Throughout the visit, there was plenty of social distancing measures put in place, and regular points to sanitise your hands. The groups were also reduced to 10 people which made the experience that bit more special!

My mother in law had given our kids Up at the O2 vouchers for Christmas, but although they had officially run out in September, given the lockdown etc, my wife had no difficulty in extending them. We went up on a blustery, cloudy late afternoon but it was still a lot of fun. You've got to be reasonably fit to climb up, but it's not a major exertion. The views are impressive, not least when trying to work out your bearings as the O2 sits on a bend in the river! It's not massively high, so you don't get the views you get from the London Eye but its nice to feel on top of a small bit of the world. The woman who was our guide was very friendly and helpful, but also suitably focused on safety. Overall, a great activity, only 20 minutes from the centre of town, and with the added bonus of being able to hit the outlet stores in the O2 afterwards :-)

A lovely sunny Sunday at the o 2.Yes it's not the Sydney harbour bridge, but never the less a welcome, and unusual addition to London's potential family and friends experience day out ! Good value for money, excellent clear pre climb brief, safety and operation of harness clear and strait forward. The climb itself is pretty easy, and only moderatly scary! Reaching the summit takes barely 20 mins but is worth it.Only the churlish would deny a magnificent view of a much changed ,and exciting, new East end of our glorious capital. The tour guide Vega was kind, informative and assuring to climbers like me that harbour a fear of heights! Well done team up at the o 2,we wil be back

We did this on a warm clear Saturday morning in September. First think to note it is best to book on line in advance. Climbs are reduced numbers due to Covid and on our Saturday totally sold out . Check in fast and easy and you are introduced to instructor who was Matt who was fab start to finish.
You are shown how to climb in to harness and given shoes to climb up. Photos taken as you start and then you get to climb up it is steep at start but you are hooked on no pressure to rush and as long as you are reasonably fit should not be a problem.
It then flattens out as you get near top . From top views are amazing of London you can have a glass of champagne for £7 and time to take photos . You then climb down the other side and it is steep coming down . Shop at end photos not bad price as was merchandise.
Matt was good fun very knowledgeable and took any questions great instructor.

My son and I climbed the O2 as part of his 18th birthday celebrations.
We arrived an hour ahead of schedule and were accommodated on the earlier walk.
Safety briefing was informative, equipment supplied and good facilities (loos and personal possession storage)
Keelan was our guide and he was fun, chatty and made the whole experience very enjoyable.
Hard climb for the first section but if you can climb a few flights of stairs then easy enough!
Coming down was slightly more difficult because of your momentum and the steepness.
All harnessed on so felt very safe.
Loads of time at the top for photos and enjoying the views.
Would definitely recommend.

Went on a Backstage Tour with my teenage son to celebrate his GCSE results.Tour Guide was a young lady by the name of Ellie. Very knowledgeable and luckily we had some characters in our group at 2.30pm.The tour overrun was not rushed and well worth the experience. Got to take in and absorb the whole experience.Lots of signed photos, secret room, and literally backstage rooms of amazing decor.Be aware no photos allowed in the fab room but their is a lot of photo opportunities.Throughout the tour we had a lot of laughs. Probably about ten people in our group and rules for social distancing and wearing of masks was observed. We were allowed to remove masks where space allowed for photo opportunities of course. At the end of the tour one is allowed to make use of the suite to purchase drinks and chill.A tour lanyard is given at the start free of charge as a keepsake and also we purchased a lovely cool Bandana as in picture which has multiple ways for wearing for £6.00. Hubby saw photos was jealous of this golden opportunity so have booked again for hubby to experience and my son to return a second time! Hopefully he has Ellie also a talented drummer again!

We had a terrific time, a birthday treat. Slick, safe and friendly operation, and some positive adaptations for the current situation which didn't detract from the experience at all. Our guide up and over the roof was great, encouraging the kids (two nine year olds) and helpfully pointing out all the things to see along the way. You can get your camera out at the summit, but the photo they take of you at the start is a great souvenir of the climb (and you get it digitally too). Exhilarating fun!

We was greeted by Frank and what a lovey man he was, he could see who was nervous and put us at ease. Megan was our guide over the o2 and she was very pleasant .
Overall a 9/10 experience. Would have been nice to of had a bit more information about what surrounded us.
Covid wise they could do a lot more to protect themselves and the guests. You walk up in a enclosed glass staircase and not asked to wear a mask. No one was asked to sanitise there hands and trust me your hands will be dirty after the climb. The ladies that took our photos as well were great.
I would definitely recommend this experience.

First time visitors at the O2, fantastic place, even more fantastic concert. Well done the organisers and the choirs, really special our seats had a great view of the stage even if it was a fair distance away. Plenty of restaurants and bars plus shops on the upper level. Would definitely visit again given the right performance.

Highly recommend. Took my two kids 15 and 12, youngest was a bit nervous but the safety talk and reassurance, humour of our guide (Nathan) soon put his mind to rest and it soon turned to excited. If your as lucky as us and get such a beautiful day as we had you won’t be disappointed with the fantastic views of the city. Make a day of it enjoy the shops and restaurants to make it a great full day out.

No, there are no lifts. But if it's any help, it's a gentle climb, not really steep, except for teeny tiny bit, maybe around 20 steps.

I want to wear flared jeans would that be okay for climbing the O2???!!
Written 18 March 2023
I would have thought so. They supply the shoes with special grip soles. You could always take elastic bands to put around them? It depends how long they are too. So you don’t tread on them as you walk up the incline. It’s a rubbery surface. Have a great time!! I loved it even though I don’t like heights.

We have purchased a London Pass via GO City. Trying to figure out how to make a reservation for a climb using one of the vouchers. Has anyone been able to do this ahead of time? If so, how/where did you enter your voucher code when making the reservation?

Yes, we parked close to the O2 in one of their designated car parks called “Car Park 2”. They were doing Covid testing but there was still plenty of spaces. As you about to leave go to the round customer service desk in the entrance lobby inside the O2 and they can validate your ticket for some hours free parking as you went to Up@O2. Then we paid the balance at the machines in the carpark. It was reasonable. Suggest you also call Up@O2 to check this is still the case, as they were very friendly and helpful.
