Address
Neighbourhood: City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.

We have been doing the virtual sessions that the East London Wine School have been putting on during lockdown, every Saturday at 6pm. They have been great! Relaxed atmosphere and a very enjoyable start to the weekend while learning about 2 wines each week, for example last week dry vs off dry Riesling, before that French vs Spanish or Argentinian Rose. Highly recommended!

If you need a fun and interactive activity for a lockdown Saturday, there is no better option than East London Wine School's Virtual Tastings. Sam is a briliant speaker and makes sure it is just technical enough for those who want it, and fun and informative for those who just fancy trying something different. Ending with a quiz is great, but they get harder every week!
As you a getting your own wine, you can choose how much or little you want to spend, and because we're on lockdown, you wont even have to share it so plenty to see through the rest of the evening/weekend - genius!
Thank you Sam, definitely the highlight of our week at present!

I did the WSET level 2 course during summer. It was run online due to the pandemic and all I can say was that it was a blast. You order the wines in advance so you probably don't taste as many wines as you would on a face to face course, but there is nothing stopping you from going out and getting them. It is a tour of the world of wine.
The course was run very efficiently online, I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend to anyone with more than a passing interest in wine.
Thanks East London Wine School

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review - we've really enjoyed having part of the school online due to Covid and will continue. Hopefully we'll see you soon for Level 3 :-)

I completed the WSET Level 2 course in February and think that the course is great for anyone who wants to learn more about wines. I was surprised about just how much we learnt in 3 weeks. The teacher Terry was also great, very knowledgable and made each session very easy to follow. The amount of wines and variety of wines we tasted was also very impressive. Thanks again all at East London Wine School.

I recently completed the WSET Level 2 at East London Wine School with a merit score. This result is a reflection of the excellent teacher we had for the course. Terry, our wine educator, has a great teaching style and the seemingly long days absolutely flew by. Terry guided us through many tastings and taught us how to rate the wines. We also learnt a great deal about geography, climate and geology. His tips on exams technique were spot on. I will be looking to do my Level 3 with ELWS in the autumn. I highly recommend the school for wine education as the classes are well taught, informative and fun. A huge thank you to Terry for his brilliant tution

I had a great evening sampling the fine wines of Bordeaux led by Sam. She is a true wine enthusiast, and was able to provide very knowledgeable guidance on what to look out for when trying new wines. The evening was very interesting but also lots of fun! Thank you Sam for such a lovely evening, we will definitely be back!

I have been meaning to write since I completed the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines earlier last month. I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the course. Terry was a fantastic tutor and really helped made what, at first, seemed an impenetrable subject really accessible and easy to understand (he also sounds remarkably like Hugh Grant when he speaks!) I thought the format of the course and all the materials were very clear and easy to digest too. Regardless of whether I passed the exam or not (though, I obviously hope I did), I definitely feel like I’ve learned a lot and it will stand me in good stead for future years of wine enjoyment!

My wife and I attended a 4 week World of Wines course.

A very enjoyable to way to spend 4 consecutive Wednesday evenings.

Sam and Joanna were excellent and we will certainly use the skills and techniques they imparted when choosing and tasting wines in the future.
