I went to the shop after seeing the very affable Paul A Young on the TV, I was intrigued and I fancied splashing out on some artisan chocolate, something different from the usual stuff I have on a daily basis. Unfortunately I wish I hadn't bothered, I've never encountered such rude staff, I was gobsmacked. I wish I'd said something at the time but it took a while to sink in. When spending that amount of money on tiny portions of chocolate I like to ask questions about what it is I'm about to buy but the response was surly, disinterested, impatient and downright offensive. You'd expect the staff to have a deep knowledge and love for all things chocolate but I got the impression they couldn't care less and just wanted all the pesky customers out so they could carry on with their little group chat which I so rudely interrupted. I'm sure the chocolate is great, I did buy some but I'm not in the mood to eat it right now as I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the little Basil Fawlty that served me. The chocolates are fine. The displays are lovely. The staff... that’s another story. They had awful attitude. No enthusiasm to help. Miserable. Unwelcoming and wanting you out of the door ASAP. You’d think the day before valentines , one of their busiest of the year, they would embrace it and welcome it and act out joyous and helpful. Alas, the exact opposite. Expensive but the chocolates are definitely worth it. The salted caramels chocolates are award winning and you can taste why. They also had a lot of more unusual flavours which were really nice.

This guy knows what he is doing with chocolate. My wife and I were on a vacation to London and made sure that one day we made it by his Soho store for a couple of his great brownies. We were repeat customers on this trip, and we will be back the next time too.
